That's cool the game came out. Zelda's fans will be very happy 😁. I like the games but cannot ever figure out the puzzle's on my own.
can it run at 60fps stability?7800x3d run at 50-60 fps 4k
Yes, as you can see in the video, too. It's weird though because that CPU is generally the best CPU for games; Maybe in this case with Yuzu it's because of the slower frequencies that matter more than cache (?) or maybe it's the version of Yuzu, I was using the early access but I can't remember which version exactly, so just try using the latest one available (v4176).
Which version of totk is this? and have you added any mods or extensions to yuzu? it would be better if you had shown the settings of yuzu, and mods/updates if you had installed.
It was version 1.1.1 and no mods were added besides the 60 FPS mod, I also used default settings on Yuzu, I just changed the internal resolution upscaler at 4K output and used SMAA Anti-Aliasing + Anisotropic Filtering: 16x.
Did performance improve?
I've just retested the initial part and taken a couple of screenshots and, by the comparison of the two, it seems like they """improved""" it a little, but while playing, it didn't feel like any real improvement, mostly because the performance is still "meh", like, you still get huge drops now and then, here and there (like, you're standing still, then you look 90° to your right and lose like 30 FPS or so, weird things like that); Imho: It's still very unstable. Also, the average FPS you get are still enormously unacceptable for a 4090; But really, I mean it's enormously unacceptable on any card, anyone of us should get like triple the performance on a game like this that looks like a game from 2015 and has literally no form of Ray Tracing or any new technology like Lumen/Nanite/stuff like that; doesn't even have HDR... bruh... . Anyway, I'll post here the two screenshots I've taken comparing the old patch VS the new one (I also updated the Nvidia Drivers -using DDU like I always do): 1) ibb.co/mCnb6PP 2) ibb.co/wYqp9pk But, again, the game is still an unacceptable, technical mess and I don't think it can ever really be repaired because the problem is the engine itself that was already broken/a mess when they initially launched it years ago, and now not only it's still broken/a mess but it's also as old as my grandpa trying to run on the new hardware... 🤦♂
Satisfying walkthrough really good work
Tysm! 🙏😊
Here's a screenshot just to show off the actual difference in FPS that I get when I'm not recording: ibb.co/xG7m6d6
If you run the game at lower resolution let's say 2K, would the FPS go higher? Could you test in 2K? I don't like to play at 40~50FPS.
Hi, welcome and thanks for your comment. As you asked, just now I've updated both Yuzu versions and did some more testing and what I can tell you is: The Yuzu Mainline latest update (v1345) seems to be doing much better in general, it keeps up the 60FPS all the time (doesn't go any higher because the game is capped at 60FPS by default and thus far there aren't any mods to unlock the FPS besides turning on Turbo Mode on the emu itself which is pretty bad, though) and also the stutters seem to be almost gone now. I re-tested all the initial part from start 'till I got the missile back on Planet Tallon IV and I've litterally got only three small stutters, but this was without recording (I use the same PC for both recording and playing), then I also tested it while recording and it kinda went all back as it was in this video, but I say kinda because it still felt like a good 20/25% improvement in general stability/optimisation. Same thing applies to the Yuzu Early Access latest version (v3408), comparing both versions I can't really notice any difference anymore. Oh, I almost forgot, as a resolution I've tried a bit of both 2160p, 1620p and 1080p (4K, "2K" and FHD), pretty much every res felt the same/great when I wasn't recording, but also felt kinda the same when I started recording (there were very tiny improvements when lowering the res while recording), though the FPS was still staying at 60FPS in every situation (without counting the stutters that you get when getting close to doors). So, as long as you don't record and play with the same PC (at least comparing it to my PC), you're pretty much fine; the game runs smooth as silk now. In my YT videos I try to use OBS Studio completely max out on every settings for the best visuals possible, but now I've also tested lowering just one setting by two steps (the Encoder Preset output to "P5" instead of "P7/Max") and I've noticed a very good improvement already while playing and recording, though, still not as good as it is without recording, unfortunately.
@@DavideN_92 Thank you so much for your very detailed response. I really appreciate it. I am currently choosing which CPU to buy and one of my biggest reason is to be able to run Yuzu (metroid, zelda2) at 60fps. As long as resolution is higher than switch console I would be happy so 2K resolution would be more than enough to make me happy although most youtubers focus on 4K settings for some reason. I am debating between 7700X, 7900X, and 7800x3D. If I were to run X versions, I would most likely use ECO mode because I heard bad things about their temperature and power efficiency. Have you ever tried ECO mode and see if the performance dropped on any of the games or emulators?
@Joon Kim Sorry for the late response. I never really tried emulated games on Eco Mode but I did quickly try it on one PC game ("Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered") but only at 4K and 1080p, simply out of curiosity to see if there were any differences, and I remember that the only real difference was at 1080p, I was getting like 6/7FPS less in 65W Eco Mode at 1080p (I only tried 65W though, which is the minimum you can choose in the UEFI). At 4K on the other hand the difference was very marginal, I was getting maybe like 1/2FPS less; so few that I couldn't really notice. Also the difference in temps was like 10/15C°, getting around 70/75C° max at stock. In the end I personally ended up not using Eco Mode because I also tested it in Cinebench R23 (Multi-Core) and the difference with 65W Eco Mode was around 7000 points and with 170W Eco Mode was around 1500 points (my CPU at stock usually scores around 38700/38600 pts, as a starting point reference). That said, if you have to buy one, I would really suggest you wait 'till April and buy the X3D version, at least if you're only planning to play videogames, watching 4K videos/movies and browsing for the most part; just because the much bigger cache of the X3D model is gonna help store much more data inside, ready to pass it to the GPU to render, making the whole proccess faster/less heavy on the CPU, thus giving you more FPS on AVG but also, more importantly, on 1% and 0.1% Lows (pretty much it makes the GPU express itself at full power, without "any" bottleneck, and the lower the resolution, the more important this becomes -though, even at 4K these days it has become a pretty important factor). By the way, let me know then which one you'll end up choosing; even the 7700X is a little beast, so as long as you don't overspend on the rest of the components, you'll be making a great choice either way! 😁
