I really loved seeing this today. I have wanted to make acrylics look at least as good as oils. You are great at this. Thank you.
Ich würde mir so wünschen, einen deutschen Untertitel zu haben, um zu verstehen, was du erklärst. Schade. Wie zum Beispiel mischt du die Farben.
Thank you. I'm really in search for good acrylic landscape painters. I was told you are the best. I'm trying to make acrylics look at least as good as oils. I was just at a workshop with Kimball Geissler in Liberty Utah. Do you think acrylics can look like that with enough work? I live in Vernal Utah.
Really nice study. I enjoyed watching you paint and as a fellow landscape painter. I think you do a magnificent job on this painting. It’s beautiful.✌️👍
Learned a lot. Thank you
Loved watching you and great result John.
Fantastic!
What material do you use to draw?
Fantastic work John!!! Plein-Air is a different 'kettle of fish'.
Absolutely beautiful ♥️
Pls add turkish subtitles ❤
Which paint container with lids are you using
Fantastic demo, John! Very insightful!
Thank you for sharing your talent. I originally saw this video about a year ago. Now, after another year of plein air painting, I admire your ability to create a painting of light and interest even more Thanks! Subscribed.
Beautiful
Thank you very much!🌺
Thank you for the magic! I saw in another video where you just sprayed leftover acrylics and just shut it. But are you using the sponge underneath and new paper every time? Also, thank you for showing both on site and in studio touch ups.
Beautiful. Is this acrylic?
Yes
Where can i buy one of those portable easles you use?
Wonderful painting!
You are AMAZING, and your calm instruction is so relaxing and enjoyable! Thank you for posting this Diamond in the Rough(a little Aladdin terminology there. Idk, weird, um…)
i am new here, your art is pretty. is it oil or acrylic?
excellent instruction!!! and relaxed. Your colors are so varied and spot on
Glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah this makes sense. It is like having your painting on your palette

I’m a new subscriber. I love the way you paint. Thanks for taking your time to explain what to do. Great job!
Thank you so much!
🙏🙏🙏👌👌👌 thank's for this video, it's a very good lesson
Glad you liked it
Excellent video on acrylic plein air! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Very instructive. Generous of you to share. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
isn't is just a waste of paint to do all that blocking in?
It is the foundation that establishes all the steps that follow.
A waste to block in? What are you talking about?
Enjoyed this very much. Thank You. liked how you used, a photo/video of your Pallett, The picture, and your painting/video as you worked it. So many artists/painters miss showing this, so you really have no idea as to how they arrive at the painting they are doing... Makes a huge difference being able to see your process. have watched this over and over, this is one I have saved to be able to see the process again. Thank You.
I like your work , Thanks so much for sharing your art.
You are so welcome!
Hopefully more videos ☺️
We're working on it.
Your explanation abut your palette is better than any i have seen on youtube Thank you
Thank you John, your colour scheme is so easy on the eye. What colours did you use on your palette?
Thank you Kevin - Titanium White, Cadmium Red Medium, Cadmium Yellow Light (or Utrecht brand Cad Yellow Lemon), Cadmium Yellow Medium, Ultramarine Blue, Transparent Red Oxide (or Utrecht brand Burnt Sienna)
Amazing!
Thank you

Muito bom plain air painting ja me escrevi no canal
Love it. Nice pace and successful painting. Good info.
Thank you
Thanks for sharing this. You mentioned how the drawing (or underpainting?) was already drying...was that acrylic and the remainder in oil?
when you use a lot of turpentine in the sketch, the layer dries quickly
@@emanuelhenrique1390 Very true. Hadn't considered that.
John paints exclusively in acrylic
It is acrylic.
That's true
Thanks for showing us how you paint a scene.
You're welcome
How do you keep your paint moist, especially when plein air painting?are you using a wax paper palette?
masterson sta wet
Hi John, I appreciate the video. Could you tell about the pallet you are using? Does it work for plein air? Thanks
That's my question too! I also heard you use a sponge pallet? Is that true! How do you keep every moist, especially painting plein air? Also, are you using a wax paper palette?
It’s a staywet palette. Yes a wet sponge under special paper. Moister permeates the paper and comes with a lid so it’ll stay moist for days! They work. He uses it specifically to keep paint wet for wet on wet painting techniques.
