    Be Honest!! Out of all due respect, I have owned both the road glide, new and sold after putting on 40,000 miles, and now the sport glide, that road glide is possibly far too big for you? Be honest. How many times have you dropped it now? Or do you not ride it? I dropped my Glide about 6x, low or no speed, in 6 years. I’m slender athletic and 5 10” tall, 160 lbs. strong. But small as a RG rider. You look way tiny on the bike. I’m wondering if a Honda Rebel with a good aftermarket fairing, which I have considered myself, would be the safest and most thrilling for you? I’ve been riding 25 years. About 200,000 total miles. Is it wise for guys our size AND age to be on an almost 1,000 lbs bike? That’s why I swapped out. And I wanted to feel the road again. Be able to hold the bike up on rain slick surfaces. And I’d done my 40,000 miles on the bike so I was good. Thoughts?

    • @ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal
      @ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal 10 днів тому

      Thanks for sharing your opinion. I've been nothing but HONEST with my viewers! I would like everyone to know that I have not dropped my Road Glide, nor had I dropped my Sport Glide before moving to the Road Glide. If you followed my channel, you would know that I ride my 3 bikes a lot. I ride year around in Michigan. In addition to my Road Glide, I also have a Kawasaki KLX300 Dual Sport as well as a Kawasaki Versys X300 adventure bike. Next, this man will tell me that those bikes are too tall for me and that I should look at a Honda Grom instead. For anyone who may be reading this man's comment, I assure you that the 2024 Road Glide is super well balanced, easy to move around the garage, and handles extremely well at low-speed maneuvers. Mind you, that assumes that you have the proper training and practice in doing those things. Best wishes to all...

    You really only need to take off 2 Allen bolts, and 2 push pins to get enough access to the connector. No need to take any fairing off 👍🏻

  • @PatchedBandit
    @PatchedBandit 11 днів тому

    It should be said that it's smart to vulganize those connectors and not just leave it open. It will get wet frequently which does corrode over time if not shielded properly.

    Watched a few of your videos now and im also in Michigan, out of the grand rapids area. Seems like my wife and I might have started riding around the same time as you and your wife? We started about 2020 ish. Your wife still riding with ya? After trying quite a few bikes, starting with a cm450a to a rebel 1100 dct. My wife ultimately felt most comfortable on a ryker. Its always cool seeing someone from Michigan on UA-cam and going thru the same evolution. Be trying out a bunch of motocamping this season and hopefully into the u.p. 😁

      Great to hear from you and thanks for watching. Yes, Laura is still riding. She has her classic 1975 Honda CB400F that she rides as her (close to home) road bike, and last fall she traded in her 2023 Honda CRF 300L dual sport bike for a Honda NX500 light adventure bike. She will be riding the NX500 on our longer rides and touring trips. Best wishes and safe riding... maybe we can cross paths sometime...

    Ive done a bunch of the Amazon parts and dont have any complaints, especially for the price! I currently have a very similar setup to what your talking about on my mini bagger rebel 1100 project. Much like your sport glide. I have it all setup for touring here in Michigan also! I dont have the exact tour pack your referring to but its absolutely awesome looking and working for the price. Im in the grand rapids area if you ever wanna meet up and compre 😁. I have mine mostly setup with all quick release stuff to go from naked to touring but im realizing probably need 2 different bikes 😂

    I'm trying to decide between a CRF 300 and the NX 500. I'm in my late 50s and haven't ridden in many years. Plan on mostly on road but some of road. Nothing extreme though so maybe the NX 500 makes more sense?? Not a lot more money and seems far better for the road.

    • @ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal
      @ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal 13 днів тому

      Go with the NX500. The NX is a more complete package and 10 times better for on road riding. The NX will do gravel and dirt roads all day long and will have no problems with logging roads either. My guess is you are not riding single track. The CRF 300L is a bike that is offroad focused but it's street legal so you can ride it to the trail head. Best wishes and safe riding...

    Did you have any luck with the doe decoy? Looked pretty good from the video good luck hunting

    • @ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal
      @ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal 14 днів тому

      I did have a nice doe come in and give me a good 20-yard shot which I took. She ran 40 yards and was down. She was so focused on the decoy that it gave me a perfect shot. Later the same season I also had a small buck come in which I could have shot at 15 yards, but I passed. I've used the decoy for 3 seasons off and on. I primarily use it during the rut hoping to draw in a buck. I did have a mature doe not come into the food plot because of the decoy this year. I also had 4 other does come in and feed for 45 minutes alongside the decoy this year. I could have shot the does at 15 yards had I wanted to. When deer come in with the decoy out there, they are so focused on the decoy that you the hunter are not in their sights. Best wishes and thanks for watching...

    I loved your Sport Glide mods and videos. I will be purchasing one in a few months. I will be adding the Memphis batwing for sure and am also considering the lowers. Thank you for the effort in making these very informative videos. I was curious about the lowers ( soft and hard ) Do they effect the engine cooling at all? I live in Australia and it gets quite hot during our summers here, I am concerned about overheating the engine.

    • @ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal
      @ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal 14 днів тому

      I never had an issue with the bike getting too hot. I was on a 3-day trip riding 8+ hours each day with temps averaging 95 degrees and the bike ran great with the hard lowers on. I just opened the vents. The lowers still provide wind protection while letting a bit of air flow through. I'm sure you'll love the Sport Glide! Best wishes and thanks for watching...

    Small world. I see you bought the socket from Ocean County Powersports. I worked there about 5 years ago. I used to pack and ship for the e-commerce side of the dealership. That just blew my mind. I'm planning on getting either a black nx500 or a black cb300r or maybe cb650r. I had a cbR300r for 7 years. Sold it in 2023. I miss how light and peppy that bike was. Nx500 might be too heavy for me but I like the idea of being able to tour.

    Running chain links end to end with hooks. You can mount some ring mounts for the hooks. Your ratcheting tie down hooks can easily hook on to the chains. It can do the job and more versatile. When done with the chains. You can unhook them and put them away in the tool box. VERY CHEAP! You don't have to worry about getting the tracks clogged with mulch, gravel, dirt, leaves, etc.

      @ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal That was a joke. I haul too much yard material, gravel, firewood, and dirt. It will be a battle to clean out the clogged tracks. I've been using chain links for years. Snap on when hauling something that needs to be tied down. Unhook and store when not used. Now you're ready to haul anything messy. 😁

    Featherweight polyfilla or one time dap wall filler. The fluffy white filler seems to have a white glue base that sticks like snot, is slightly flexible, and does not shrink. Resistant to water as well.

    I don’t have a touring chassis but I did buy some parts through Advan Black. If I had hindsight then that I do now, I would’ve saved my money and ordered through Amazon. I also tried returning unused parts to Advan Black and it cost me a pretty penny to ship them plus a 20% restocking fee. Amazon takes returns no questions asked and it’s free drop off to your local drop off point. Pros: I’ll say I like the paint quality of the part that I got. Fairing was well packaged and flawless on arrival. Cons: I think I paid double in the long run. Customer service does not seem to be a strong suit.

      They talk a good game but I was completely ignored after 2 separate messages left asking for help. Thanks for the feedback…

    Totally creates demoralizing wind buffeting for all motorcycles and particularly this model bike. Mine are still laying 3 miles from my house where I ripped them off and threw them in a cornfield.

      Thanks for the heads up. We'll be road testing them soon and will report back to the channel if we experience the same issue. None of our other motorcycles have had an issue with this.

    Tried a King tour pak last riding season for the first time on a week long ride and it was very convenient. I used a back pack inside the tour pak which made hotel stops really easy. No straps or concerns about weather. King tour pak easily and securely fit my helmet and boots when we stopped for the night. Going to be hard to give up the tour pak now.

      I keep waffling between the chopped size and the king. I really like the ability to put a helmet inside the tour pack and go into a restaurant and not have to worry about the gear. Thanks for the input...

    I picked up my 24 NX500 Nov 1st. I've had to order some OEM parts from Europe (Like tinted wind screen) due to lack of US market. I feel your pain! I also own a 24 CRF300L.

      I think the availability of after-market parts will begin to pick up once the bike has had a little more time be rolled out here in the US market. Best of luck, and thanks for watching...

    I like tour packs for a few reasons. 1 it doesn't look temporary. 2 the ability to increase lighting. 3 security and weather proof.

      Thanks for the input. The weatherproof and security aspects are two big reasons that I'm considering a tour pack. Best wishes...

    The HOGWORKZ tour pack lid broke after the one-year warranty, I called to see if they could help me, and no luck. I even wanted to buy the lid, but they told me no. So, I went back to a Dry Duffle Bag 25L

    I took my tour pack off and replaced it with a sissy bar and travel bag. Extreme weight savings. Tour pack: 58#. Sissy bar and travel bag: 18#, 40# saving.

    Why not have the best of both words? Get an Advanblack chopped with the rack ? They have a new style tour pack support with wider base, and splurge for the newer liner with pockets, also the Reaper light bar. Voice of experience, wife has the chopped, with liner and light bar. I fabricated the mount myself because at the time there was no mount available. Her tour pack mount allows her to sit perfect in the seat with the pad for comfort and places the weight more over the axle as well, Safe Travels Todd 😎
