restoring an old barn padlock with secret lock mechanism
Hi there, today i'm gonna to upload a new restoration video, it's about restoring an old barn padlock with secret lock mechanism. The padlock was not used since long time. I bought it from an antique dealer. It has a secret mechanical lock system. I think that it was exposed to dust, water and also sun light. I used many restoration tools such as dremel too, angle grinder and cordless drill.
I also used different consumable materials such as sandpaper and red german paint.
So enjoy watching how to restore an old barn padlock .

I have a vintage Saxony clock, made in West Germany in 1959 by H.A.F. Cant figure out how to operate. Has similiar back. Hole in middle. How to set the time ?
Tolle Arbeit🤩
Dankeschön 🤗
I now understand why things cost so much to restore… ❤
Many thanks, we Always try to make it better 😎

Raridade hoje em dia 👍

I had to stop watching after you started using the dremel, you lost a lot of definition and patina. Very rough work. All edges rounded and rolled. Not good
Maybe i will make it in another way in m'y next restoration projets
Great job 👏 keep going man

Es un penn me imagino de 1950 😊
No it is an old Mitchell, french model
Very interesting, but after the restoration, you failed to show the dynamo working.
I will do it in a similar other videos.
Amazing restoration! Well done! 👏
Thank you very much!
What is the spring steel for?
it is to maintain the moving part exerting a holding force.
A few things to keep in mind when repairing clocks. Keep in mind that none of this is meant to discourage you, but instead to provide knowledge for future repairs as it should be a valuable skill to be shared by all. First, the pivots do need oil. A very small amount off oil, but it's neessary to make sure it lasts and runs well over time. Clock oil is recommended but a sweing mahine oil works okay as well. Second, I noticced the beat wasn't as smooth as it should be, implying there was something wrong with the balance wheel or hairspring - it wasn't a "tick, tock, tick, tock", but rather a "tick-tock, tick-tock". Third, is that most clockmakers will keep the original dial even if it's weathered or otherwise damaged from the ages; old dials have character and swapping them out is generally frowned upon, though it is your clock so you do you. Fourth, is that the finish on that clock body is kind of bad. You can see that while you did try to polish it, what it really needed was a light panel beating to knock the larger kinks, then a sanding up to maybe 2000 grit and then a final hand polish. You would also want to nickel plate the body to avoid it being tarnished and stained, then maybe a final gold plate to bring that colour back. The face ring needed a higher polish, as well. Time and care are your friends when creating a new surfface finish. A final point is not to mess with the bell. Even if the bell is pitted, painting it or using filler would dull the ring on that bell and ruin the sound. Perhaps a new nickle plated coat? Criticisms aside, I love how you made a new part using a drill in a vice as a lathe. If you want to pursue small parts for repair, then you can get much higher quality parts with a mini lathe and they are not very expensive - they can be modified to become very good workshop items.
Thank you i will keep in mind your advices for further restoration projets.
Can you explore me how many of turn of coil, identify the N and S of magnet

I am going to refurbish mine own as well . Thanks and keep up the good work.🎉🎉
Enjoy it and good luck 😎
fantastic artist
Many thanks.
You make very good
Thank you buddy 😎
Great job! Thankyou for the video 15:40 15:42
Hope you enjoyed watching 😎
Strange, this is a Kosmos type side draft burner, I've never seen a flame spreader over a wick.
I got the item like it was. Really no idea about original form.
Curious on what type of solder that is being used?
It was brass metal.
@@RestorationInside right, but the solder is sticks, never seen solder in stick form, I use a 60watt or 80watt iron with Kester #44 rolled rosin core solder on my lamp repairs, and it’s hard to work with.
Wow, 1:28 see here where they had stitched longer wick on to the short part to get longer use of the wick. Wonder when the last use was? 1900’s?
No idea
hello gentlemen thank you for your video great work what is the name of the liquid you used to clean the copper coins and how long should I leave it in?????😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you, i used vinegar and salt mixture for cleaning brass metal parts. the cleaning process lasts 24 hours in this case. It can be more or less time, It depends on how much dirt is stuck on parts.
@@RestorationInside OK bro thank you so much ' you are the best seriously
Where did you get the new sticker from btw ?
I got it simply from a sticker printing service after giving them the desired drawing as a sample.
@@RestorationInside Thank you for the reply
That is brilliant thanks for sharing ur skills 👍
My pleasure 😊
Beautiful work mate
Thank you! Cheers!
i didn't tested it on a bike yet.
@@RestorationInside Well, it's for nothing.
You do a good job, but PLEASE, blue the parts instead of that spray and don't fill the metallic parts with putty, if they have big pits, weld it instead and let the time marks stay, so your job will be perfect ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much, i will make so in next similar projects.

The gap is too small, that's why the inside is somehow clean
That solderwork was not ok...You do not need to hard solder these lamps..Soft solder is way enough and much cleaner.
I will make it so in other similar youtube restoration projects
Excellent improvement restoration
Thank you buddy, much appreciated.
I just found one of these at a thrift store for less than 5 dollars. Perfect condition, someone took good care of it, only missing a few parts. Looking forward to restoring it. 😄
Good, you have to try, and make it new for one more use.
Yes you have right.

Lol.
Wery Good.
Many thanks.
E a montagem?????
I will record it in next similar projects.
Gosto muito deste trabalho escrarecido.
Thank you buddy, much appreciated
What equipmen you used to braze the bass, and repair the carck in the brass
It was brass metal rod
Awesome restoration!!! Enjoy watching you repair old clocks. Most people do not have one like this. I love them.
Thank you buddy, much appreciated
You do nice work !!!
Many thanks, much appreciated.
Thanks, i Will try better in next similar project and take care about points and advices you've mentionned below.
Nicely done! Really liked the outcome. You definitely deserve more attention in YT.
Thank you otina i try my best 😎
Very good job 👍. Congratulations!
