I kinda like how Mirio here is portrayed as kind of the antithesis of Deku and also harkens back to the beginning of the series. Deku was a loser because he had no quirk, but became a hero when he got one. Back then he asked All Might "Can I still become a hero, even without a quirk?". Mirio was born with a "bad" quirk that was hard to control and even harder to use properly, for most of his life he was a loser BECAUSE he had a quirk. He let Overhaul take Eri even though his quirk was probably the best counter to Overhaul. But when he lost his quirk was when he became a true hero. He proved both Deku and All Might right. You CAN become a hero, even without a quirk.

So I should tell you this since the anime didn't explain this but the manga did: So while Tanjiro was struggling to breathe. In that scene in the manga the author talks saying that humans have 2 limits. A stamina and life limit. Tanjiro was about to go over his life limit. If his sister Hanako, hadn't told him to breathe he would have died. Also Tanjiros bloody eyes came from immense anger because Daki killed the people so his veins bursted. It was explained that this anger would give a temporary power boost but it had the negative effect of causing tunnel vision so he forgot his pain, blinking and even breathing Also there was a cool line saying "If Humans could harness the power of hatred and anger...then demons would have disappeared from this world a long time ago"
