As a big fan of Melanie Martinez I would recommend you watch the video clips, it makes more sense to the story, but I understand that it is difficult to re-record the video while watching the video clip :/

This album came out the month I started my first year of high school and I had a MASSIVE crush on a boy named Brandon who had a girlfriend at the time so when I heard the line “she was kissing Brandon I got jelly” in Class Fight i absolutely LOST IT, from that moment this album was one of my all time favorites and still is to this day

I think Melanie chose to name the song about eating disorders “Orange Juice” because of how ED is commonly depicted in the media. I don’t know about you, but in a lot of short films or movies I’ve watched when a character is struggling with an ED, one of the only things you’ll ever see them eating is an orange, simply because they’re small and easy to digest. And you’ll be less likely to throw them up. I also say this from my personal experiences dealing with people who struggle with body dysphoria and their appetite, and I do know that it’s a go-too fruit (food?) when trying to recover and gradually building up an appetite as well.
