PERMA the Wellbeing model of Positive Psychology
Positive Psychology is descriptive, not prescriptive. This means it doesn't tell us exactly what we should do, but it describes the traits of people who experience high levels of wellbeing.
The PERMA model however provides a framework against which we can evaluate our lives, in order to identify where we need to invest our time and energy.
This is about conscious decision making - rather than just waiting and hoping for happiness to happen to us.

    Why do all the benefits just sound like things that are advantageous to the capitalist class that owns the material resources? Looks like the equality act 2010 is missing a key protected characteristic: poverty. How about we recognize poverty as a protected characteristic and seek to equalize distribution of material resources to make an economically just society?

    Ironically, DEI is the epitome of exclusion and bigotry. I work in public schools in California and it’s nothing but anti White, anti America and anti anything not liberal. The material and function is absolutely racist, as my Black, Brown and all colors in between colleagues and friends believe. We’ll fight it all the way… (no replies read)

    We’re doing nothing but talking good game. White Supremacy or Eugenics are about exclusion. If you don’t attack exclusion, then you are attempting to fix and assembly line after the product rolls off the line. As Bishop Desmond Tutu has said ‘You can keep pulling bodies out of the stream, but pretty soon you have to go upstream and figure out who keeps throwing the bodies in?”

    what a load of BS. - equality -v - democracy - you can look up these stats for yourself - Blacks in the UK = 3-4% - OK - so why are around 80% of the people in TV ads black ? Is that not discrimination? Transgender - wait for it - 0.15% (and that's being generous) - so why is this even being discussed in schools, the media, TV etc etc. Gays - 3% overall - male + female - so, again, why are we discussing it ? Why, in the 21st century, do MINORITIES rule our world - its ludicrous - in the UK we supposedly live in a DEMOCRACY - dont we ? Remember - Positive Discrimination is still Discrimination - which is ILLEGAL - so how can it possibly be mandated ? In a democracy you go where the vote leads you - no exceptions - but try telling that to our politicians.

    There is a flip side to all of this. What about those people with protected characteristics who exploit that fact to bully others. I have seen (and personally experienced) several instances where people have used a characteristic such as race, gender, disability or sexual orientation in order to deflect appraisal of poor performance, use it as a trump card to get their own way or have even bullied others - then pulled the card out and made a false allegation when their poor behaviour is questioned. I am a line manager and have had training in protected characteristics and the equality act and how to ensure those with protected characteristics are treated equally - but none of that training covered what to do in the reverse situation I have described above. Bullies come in all shapes, sizes and characteristics.

    "We have a duty to foster and embrace Equity, Diversity and Inclusion."...Why?...who said?....why do I feel like we are living through the Cultural Revolution as it played out in China . This is all very net and patronising ...and imposed. Try having a different opinion to these ideologues and see just how much diversity is tolerated. As for implicit bias....that usually goes only one way and implies white people against minorities!....if implicit bias exists then everyone has it....ask a devout muslim if he thinks kaffirs (non-muslims) are equal to muslims (according to sharia law that is not the case)....and on and on......we are adults and we do not need ideologues telling us how to behave.....that should happen organically ....otherwise everyone will be walking on eggshells scared of offending each other ( by the way no one every died from being offended)...this is all about control .......ps if you want equity get off your butt and earn it like we did in olden days.

    The narrative of D.E.I. assumes facts not in evidence, that minorities are victims of systemic discrimination, and that simply isn’t true. Diversity is about recognition of minority groups based upon arbitrary (racist or discriminatory) markers, AND CATEGORIZING INDIVIDUALS INTO GROUPS BASED UPON IDENTITY RATHER THAN MERIT. Equity is about equality of outcomes rather than equality of opportunities. In other words, it is NOT merit based. It is identity based, and this is NOT fair. It seeks to distribute favourable outcomes based upon identity, rather than merit, and this a disastrous recipe for failure. Inclusion is about using discriminatory practices to EXCLUDE individuals from participation based upon merit or competence, and to INCLUDE individuals based upon identity in spite of lack of merit or competence, AND THIS IS PREJUDICIAL AND DISCRIMINATORY. D.E.I. in a nutshell.

    Does equity also apply to senior citizens? I have frequently suffered discrimination in the workplace but I'm afraid to leave because not many new job opportunities for seniors. Companies often won't even interview someone my age (67). Where can I go for help with this kind of discrimination?

      hey don, depending on the type of job you work, reporting this to HR, if that is available, is a good start at solving discrimination in the workplace.

    "When we think of" you don't seem to think because active discrimination seems to be OK long as you're a protected Race/class right? if you want equality you can't have Protection this is backward thinking of people who don't want to improve so LOWERING the bar. it's really stupid to believe SUCCESS can be Drawn from a pool of weakness, maybe we shouldn't tax the protected classes eh you know some jobs only exist because the need for WEAK PEOPLE exists so it pays to make sure week people STILL exist so you can profit from them.

    Say no to DEI. It is just a front for vast new racial preferences, thought police and commissars. By "equity" they mean forced equal outcomes, not equality of opportunity (which they say is racist). DEI is cultural Marxism based on race, and fundamentally un-American. Remember: equal people are never free and free people are never equal. Focus on equal opportunity for all and let the chips fall where they may.

    The only relevant parts are the concepts of equality and "equity". The rest is abstract nonsense. Equality means treating people equally, as individuals, not discriminating against them based on "protected" characteristics. Equity means the opposite of this, treating people differently, discriminating against them based on "protected" characteristics under the pretext that they are inherently "privileged"/advantaged in some way.

This has nothing to do with discrimination, ignorance or racism. it has more to do with having similar interests and being with people that have the same moral commitments that you feel comfortable being with.       Because often, minorities can either experience some form of discrimination or be overlooked and essentially made to feel unwelcome or historically have not been welcome or had access to certain areas. It's not necessarily about forcing anyone to do anything, but highlighting things we may not have thought about.

    Intersting. Unconscious bias ? When i go to a foreign country i would respect their culture and values . Maybe when we accommodate other ethnicities, they could show the same courtesy. But then this DEI is really about deleting our culture and values isnt it .

      A museum recently in the uk went inclusive . They erased all of the british history . Inclusive gives cover to purge and censorship. Dont be fooled .

    As far as women and all their yelling about equality.  When was the last time you ever saw a "cart girl" at -10 below at any shopping center?  When was the last time you ever had Jane the "Roto-Rooter girl" cleaning your drains?  When was the last time you ever had Lilly-the "cable girl" fixing your cable or dish?  When was the last time you saw "Pam the Plumbs"-crack, bent under your sink?   When was the last time you ever saw Sally the power company gal climbing a power pole?  On and on you get the picture. They only want the pay, not all the job opportunities that are available!
