Jesus, this is a throwback for me. I remember my buddy Jeff, whose sister was/is? married to AJ (i really don't know), and I traveled out to the studio when they were recording a split with Long Beach All Day when Dave from the Vandals was still their vocalist and they were like a super group of LB skate punk players. I was 13 and I remember AJ and Dave being fucking rad and super nice. Dude that was 30 fucking years ago! Seems like they used to play much faster, then again last time I saw them was at Todd Barnes memorial show with TSOl and the Vandals at Java Lanes and that was 23 years ago, so i may remember it wrong. Actually Close Encounter is played at tempo, I know that because I still listen to that song.

I always feel sad for the singer, they work so hard to sing a nice song, and its either a cell phone mic or a pa system that makes it impossible to understand the words. And in the end its only the words of the song that separate this performance from 1000's just like it. Can we understand that? I say thank you for playing.
