The Front Acre
United States
Приєднався 2 кві 2021
After years of searching and praying and dreaming, God has finally given us a 1-acre property to start homesteading. There are plenty of mini-homesteaders out there that you could watch, but their stories often start after they have been at it for a while. We wanted to share with others how we got started from the very beginning! We hope our homesteading journey is both inspiring and informational for others who are still dreaming or just starting out on their own homesteads.
The Goats Have LICE & How We're Treating Them
When immune systems are low due to seasonal changes, sickness, or pregnancy, goats are more prone to get parasites. Which is what happened on our farm this fall! Follow along as we share our experience with goat lice, what we think contributed to them getting them, and how we chose to treat them.

You are doing all the right things. Like you said, do best for your herd. 🇨🇦
Hopefully and prayerfully you can get things under control again. Those little devils are relentless! ❤
@@nanascraftingcottage3620 thankfully they really aren't bad. Honestly, probably just the few here and there that are always present but you never notice. But since I keep hunting for them... 😆
@ absolutely! 😂
Maybe need pantyhose or knee highs will come out better.
@@cindymccallum7011 oh, that's a great idea. I didn't even think of that. 😋
A little thing you could do is buy camping lanterns, fans and maybe a usb charger that use your power tool batteries. In Ethiopia they roast their coffee in just a little iron or steel looking pan over a little fire.
@@edevans5991 yes, I definitely said "roast coffee" in the video, but I meant "Grind coffee" 😆 Great recommendations! Mike actually started looking into adapters to run things off his drill batteries. 😊 Thanks for the tip.
Great job!!! 👍🥰
I LOVED this message, Amanda!!! It is SO very true that God ALWAYS takes care of us and He will NEVER leave us NOR forsake us. All we have to do always, especially in hard times, is lean on Him and He will carry us through. This year has been difficult for hubby and I as we lost my Mom last December 13 and have our oldest son that has pretty much disowned us, with knowing why. You being a Mom yourself would understand how hurtful it is to not be able to see one of your kids. But, we have left it in God’s very capable hands and He will carry us through. Hugs and prayers to you and your family, Amanda! You are loved and appreciated. ❤️ Pam
@@nanascraftingcottage3620 thank you for sharing that. I will pray for your family. Just keep leaning in to God's new mercies every morning. ❤️
@ AMEN!!! Thank you, Amanda, I greatly appreciate you and your family. I am SO happy I found you!! ❤️🤗❤️

“Cue the crazy” 😂😂😂
@@kimbeale797 Crazy Daisy! She's always good for entertainment. 😆
Cute babies. Maybe having those other babies around her during and immediately after delivery distracted her and ultimately led to her thinking all the babies in there were not hers. I think she should have had a private space to birth.
Your goat is absolutely adorable and has such a playful spirit!
@@LuluCrazy1 she's definitely a special goat! Lol she keeps us on our toes. 😉 Thanks for watching

@ To treat a baby goat with pneumonia, you can: Administer antibiotics: A veterinarian can prescribe antibiotics to treat bacterial pneumonia. Broad-spectrum antibiotics are more effective than narrow-spectrum antibiotics. Naxcel is a prescription antibiotic labeled for goats and is considered the drug of choice for most bacterial pneumonias. Reduce fever and inflammation: Give an anti-inflammatory drug like Banamine to reduce fever and inflammation. Treat congestion: Give an antihistamine like Benadryl syrup to treat congestion. Provide access to food and water: Make sure the goat has ready access to food and water. Keep the goat away from other goats: Keep the goat in a dry, well-ventilated area away from other goats. Consider euthanasia: If the goat is severely affected, you should consider euthanasia. Some signs of pneumonia in goats include: Fever, Difficulty breathing, Coughing, Crackling sounds in the lungs, and Nasal and ocular discharge. You can help prevent pneumonia by vaccinating your goats and managing your herd. *I hope this helps your baby! 😊

How many birds do you keep in this?
@@thavenom4087 it's roughly 80 sq. Ft., meaning if you went with 1.5 sq.ft. per bird, you could easily house 50+ birds. But that's pretty close quarters. We had around 20 in it to start, but after a few weeks we moved the pullets into the main coop to cut down on how much food they were going through in the tractor every day (we were having to refill multiple times per day. I recommend bigger feeders.) So most of the time there were about 10 cockerels in there with PLENTY of space. We could get away with not moving every single day if we needed to. With bigger feeders, 20 birds would still be quite comfortable with room to stretch out.
Oh my you have beautiful hair
