Astrophotography Processing: The Rosette Nebula A Beginners Guide#astrophotography #astrohelp #astro
Astrophotography Processing: The Rosette Nebula A Basic Guide Processing with ASI Studio and Adobe Photoshop 2023
The Rosette Nebula (also known as Caldwell 49) is an H II region located near one end of a giant molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way Galaxy. The open cluster NGC 2244 (Caldwell 50) is closely associated with the nebulosity, the stars of the cluster having been formed from the nebula's matter.
The cluster and nebula lie at a distance of 5,000 light-years from Earth and measure roughly 130 light years in diameter. The radiation from the young stars excites the atoms in the nebula, causing them to emit radiation themselves producing the emission nebula we see. The mass of the nebula is estimated to be around 10,000 solar masses.

    Glad I found this, I’ve been banging my head against the wall for over a week trying to figure it out!! Another question… Did you remove the carousel from the EFW and screw the camera to the EFW body from inside? (Or, do you just screw the camera into the EFW… seems the would be easier to breakdown)

  • @davidjennings2733

    I tried this combination on my WO Z81 scope. I used the same rotator, 6AIII Focal reducer and field flattener along with the recommended 55 mm spacing for the zwo ASI533mm pro camera and was not able to achieve the proper inward focus. Setting my focuser to 0, all the way in I was then able to see the shape of stars, still out of focus. I had to remove the 16.5mm and 21mm spacers to get the camera to focus on the stars. However, the edge of the shot shows the stars like footballs, so obviously my camera distance is off. I was wondering if you experienced any problems with inward focus and not being able to achieve the proper focus without removing any spacers between the camera and the FF/FR. As it should be 55mm regardless. Your thoughts or experience with the same setup would be appreciated. I also made sure to set the FF/FR to 5.2 ish.. lol

    Oh man, I wish I'd watched you do that before tonight... I only had one screw in the far hole, the focuser locking one, and I needed to move things outboard a little as the stepper screws fouled the saddle on my mount... Putting it all back together I've managed to strip the thread in the locking hole 😢 Had I realised that near side grub screw was just a hole blocker I'd probably not tightened the lone screw up so much. I've had a walk around the garden to calm down but have been in a funk all evening due to my stupidity. At least now I know there's one more hole I can use so I don't have to disassemble the focuser and redrill the stripped hole. I might do that in future if I feel brave 😂

    • @Astro.Q
      @Astro.Q Рік тому

      Oh no, that's a pain. Get a Zeus precision book that will give the next closest thread size. I'm guessing it may be imperial to save taking out too much material. Fairy straightforward to do. Or if not, definitely black it off to stop rubbish getting in the foucaser. All the best and clear sky's Ryan 👍

    Hey Ryan, nice video!... Is it necessary to precisely polar align this mount or just roughly alignment is enough? I have a mount without goto system, and I don't enjoy the process of polar align 😅. I would like to have something simpler and this mount looks nice

    • @Astro.Q
      @Astro.Q Рік тому

      I've roughly polar aligned for the moon in eq mode, and it performed well. When I say roughly, I just pointed it north using the stellairum app. And done the 2 or 3 star alignment on the skyscan app. This works fine. Or you can use a laptop or an asi air. I haven't done this yet, but I may do once the clouds go away. Would that be something that you would be interested to see all the best, and thanks for watching Ryan.

It's pretty special seeing Mars and craters on the Moon at the same time, well done for getting out there, it was definitely an early morning to remember! :) Tip for the channel side of things and I know it's tricky to judge sometimes, but if you have backing music for the length of the video, set the volume lower than you think you need too. The other thing I've picked up the hard way over the years is that it's quite engaging when you only have music at key points during the video E.g. talking to camera (no music), B-roll (music tapers up in volume then fades out) start talking again. When you think about it it's what they do in TV and films :D Clear skies fella!
