I couldn't disagree more, I've never been more into Game Pass than ever thanks to Game Pass. I use my Xbox more than my PC for games now (and not just because my PC is getting a bit old). I think Game Pass is fantastic, it introduced me to my favourite series, Yakuza, and has allowed me to play games that I wouldn't otherwise been able to play due to a lack of money. We've had situations like Hi-Fi Rush devs being shut down, but that said, that's apparently more to do with leadership changes and sales, than Game Pass. Game Pass isn't the reason Hi-Fi Rush flopped, it was the lack of marketing and the fact it was a very niche product. I doubt that Hi-Fi Rush would have been as successful as it was, if it wasn't for Game Pass allowing a massive audience to try it out and get word of mouth out there.

Doom was ALWAYS going to PS5. This has been known for a long time. When you buy it on PS5, Xbox gets paid. When you buy CoD on PS5, Xbox gets paid. Most of the CoD money comes from MTX. So if you are paying full price for that game, you are less likely to buy anything in game. Put that game on Gamepass and you are far more likely to have people spend that money in game. So putting AAA games on Gamepass makes perfect sense. What you don't get in game sales, you make more back in subscriptions. It's how it has worked for a long time. If you buy the game at $70, you still need to buy a subscription to play multiplayer.

5:47 I think there were social media posts from Japan saying how weird it'd be for Japanese villagers to be welcoming and unsuspicious of a giant black guy who somehow managed to suit himself in full samurai armor without being accompanied by some sort of entourage. It'll at least be worth seeing if they do anything interesting with the character's circumstances or if he is another interchangeable hero.

I'd argue Gamepass isn't even good for gamers, especially in the long run. It's running into the same issue Netflix has. Ballooning licensing agreements and onslaught of originals/youtube reviewer bait as filler content that continue to fail either in profit or metrics, then canceled (as a studio) prematurely. The fiscal strategy is stocks and attention, not per project profits. The value proposition was always about baiting a userbase with an "inconceivably good deal" to then sneak up prices along with inflation. The only positive of gamepass and microsoft is that it occasionally gets a project platformed that likely otherwise would take much longer or have less polish, but as evidenced with the layoffs, they see no problem taking the competent (Tango Gameworks) out with the trash (Arkane. They were forced to make Redfall out of their comfort zone, but Death Loop wasn't really championing its roots, either.) On console you're kind of pinned into subscribing cause of online play, but for PC it's just another streaming subscription service.

People dont buy games anymore look at ps games specifically. 100 million consoles and games rarely crack the 4-5 million mark. Majority of people play games like roblox, minecraft, fortnite, sea of thieves (huge player base in ps now) and cod. So dont single out xbox and its gamepass. At the end of the day who cares if companies make money, nobody buying games anyway. Let them cater to you (gamepass) if they make money or not who cares, play your games enjoy what you want. Gamepass as you said a great deal and good for for most developers, can get a cashout for their game onto gamepass and get royalties for people playing the game. I say they need to expand gamepass onto steam and epic games since not everyone has the console and people dont want to use their launcher. Console side of things, idk the future with new hardware they are planning (possibly the handheld rumors) there are also rumors ive heard that steam and epic games are coming onto the platform, idk much but i think their still going to be in the game for a little while longer and trying new things. Now games, they a big publisher obviously they are going to do put games multiplat which is good, more access to the game, more sales, and also less piracy if they dont do restrictions like what PS is doing. Also one last thing, where did you hear 10 studios shutting down i just heard the 4 studios. And also on the 4 studio i cannot find where they explained why they shut them down (specifically arkane and tango) they said they are looking at studio to see how they do and the future of the studio, so then why shutdown tango. Apparently they wanted to hire more staff for a hi-fi rush 2 (omg i wish they didnt shutdown 😭) which is fine but thats the reason? But also arkane wanted to do the same for a single player game, but looking further into the studio apparently a lot of staff and leadership of the studio left during development for Redfall, and the same had been happening for Tango which is maybe the reason for a mostly empty studio and needing to make cuts, but really its mostly speculation on the closings until they give an actual reason to why they shutdown

I just use Game Pass as a modern day Blockbuster. Get it for a month when there's a few games on it that I'm interested in, then cancel it and buy the one(s) that I really liked. Also, in my case, I already own 95% of the games on Game Pass that interest me, so it's an absolute waste of money for me to keep renewing it - especially if I'm not going to be utilizing Game Pass frequently enough to warrant buying it every month. I'm basically pissing money away and getting nothing in return if I'm not constantly playing games with it. The amount of people who keep renewing Game Pass every month just to play the same 4 or 5 games blows my mind, and they are complete fools. It'd be cheaper in the end to just save the money and buy those games. Same goes for streaming services, where people keep renewing Netflix just to have The Office or Friends on in the background, or keep renewing Disney+ to keep putting on Marvel movies that are 5-10 dollars a piece on DVD. It's great if you are a newer gamer who doesn't own a bunch of games yet, and you are playing a ton of games on it, though. Even then, in the long run, those newer gamers are going to be spending more money than just buying their games new or used. How so many people can't see or understand that is beyond me.

Even if Xbox was the standard I’m pretty sure they’d still allow these games on as many platforms as possible because Microsoft is a software company that happens to make a console. It’s also the same company that was known to buy out competition just to shut them down, they want a monopoly on pc os and on the console market. Since they failed with hard ware they’re taking over software, they have the money for it.
