Other than for very small children this is fucking ridiculous.

this is generally used for children yeah, but if an adult says this appeals to them why not do it?

Actually there’s a lot of complex things happening in this sort of therapy that makes it often more effective than just talk therapy, even though it seems simple and playful to you.

. . . and. . . ? What's her contact info? I'll take her to the pub for a laugh and a spritz. It's WAY cheaper and laughter is the best medicine. 👩‍💼🙋‍♀️🍵☕

Omg this is so beautiful & sad at the same time. My heart when she put the dog on the tray next to her..and said "I'm closer to my dog and friend than my parents..but my dog is closer to my parents" 😭💔

The person in this scenario who needs severe psychological help is the counselor. Giving a child that age a stuffed animal to play with is a sign of mental illness.

ohsnap31 the client is not a child. The stuffed animal is a metaphor. Listen tot the video again

You're the one that may well need help. Ignorance by way of self-righteousness isn't something to display for the world to witness on UA-cam. That's not the sign of a "healthy" human being. The client in this video is not a child, for one. Secondly, the process is known as externalization. For example, if I were your therapist, I might ask you to describe "the problem"---your ego. I'd ask you what color it is. What it smells like. Is it slender or fat? Is it male or female? I'd ask you to name it. We might come back with something like the Fat Red Rancid Bitch named Xena. That's externalization by way of position mapping. Now we have an avatar for your ego. Hence, whenever it flares up, we can see it for what it is---the Fat Red Rancid Bitch named Xena---and invite it to excuse itself from our conversation and your life. Cool, huh? :) All the counselor's doing in this video is using a stuffed animal (not a "toy") in an attempt to shortcut this process. I don't agree with this way of position mapping. But her intentions are noble.
