With this situation, if you were to give her a contract with the possible ramifications signed by owner, that should remove some of your liabilities. It is ok to tell a customer no. If you know the consequences of their decision will lead to negative results, tell them that as a professional you cannot follow their request and keep their property in proper condition. And in conclusion: Contracts. Contracts. Contracts. Everything in writing.

Oh yes I've been in similar situations not with lawn care but with landscaping and with carpentry and yep definitely been up and down that damn it they are far and few between but yeah they exist.

I like grass cut tall, but i don't water my lawn. This chokes out the weeds and lets the good grass grow. Something to cut when the rain stops in the summer too.

I wish i heard this a year ago when i started. If youre out there wanting to start a lawn business. Look no further. This is the video you should be paying attention too. Don't over complicate yourself with other services. Build a route first. Make sure you are consistent across all your marketing materials(shirts, logos, websites, google, FB). Thats it. Look good, speak well. And a little bit of drive and you've got the golden ticket. So stop scrolling through videos and comment sections on the youtube. Get off your a** and change your identity now! Youre a business owner, not a bum.

I do biweekly cuts and budget billing also called level payment plan for 9 months of service (20 cuts/10 months of payments) or 23 cuts year-round with 12 monthly payments. I explain to customers that my method helps them avoid a 50% billing increase in 2 months during the season, like the $45 x 2 cuts per month= $90 versus $45 x 3 cuts= $135 which can throw their budget off.
