I should know being a 40 obsessive, but is that distinctive whine when given full power the traction motors or the turbos? You can hear it very clearly on here. It’s like the power unit becomes momentarily quieter and then that beautiful whine/scream comes in, but then dies down again as the thump of the engine returns.

Used to love watching them go past whilst I was walking to school.... Running the Merry go round to Ratcliff power station. They'd crank them up going through New Basford, what an amazing sight and sound. 20177 was my first engine number, will forever have a soft spot for the class20.....
