MY Big Dry Pour Concrete Pad Spring Update
Here's the Spring update for the dry pour pad we laid down the beginning of Summer of 2023. This video is not meant to promote the technique. It's an experiment to test the technique. Failure is an option. Do your own research before doing your projects, this in not an endorsement.

BIG 138 x 80lb bags Dry Pour Concrete Slab

Cajun Country Living video for reference. Must watch! ua-cam.com/video/GC0j2Ey5NNk/v-deo.html
Some. People are just. Stupid.. I would have changed them.less money. They spent so much money and effort and it looks like shi#####. Call a Mason next time please
Good Job ! Don't worry if you get cracks, all concrete drives crack anyway , even with expansion joints .
I promise to watch this but at 1:05 i have to ask, What is the purpose of removing the concrete from the original packaging? I am just wondering it the "Cobblestone" approach is better.
not good when he picks up the first bag and goes "ugh"
I'm impressed with the retaining wall holding up the left side - and your very objective perspective - in what I was thinking as well: Dry pour does look like more work, and takes longer. However, so far it is holding up much better than the original, and certainly better than your neighbor's that is a cracked-up swimming pool. Thanks for sharing!
Why not do regular concrete pour and just do smaller sections at a time if your worried about the concrete setting to fast?
Yikes I would have paid to have this done. Plus with a driveway you definitely want a solid foundation!
So chainlink works fine instead of rebar?
Oh and people I forgot to mention this never do what he's doing.
Honestly it looks like you're wasting a lot of money! If it was me or many other people you probably should have tore out the cracked up driveway that looks pretty horrific instead of adding to it and the whole vinegar thing is ridiculous you want the new concrete to bond to the old you don't want to maybe put dile rods but what you're doing is crazy I've never seen anything like it.
great
should have put a split/corner between the pads anyways... over all seems good. def wouldnt park on a dry poor but im glad to see yours is holding. def more confident a dry poor will work for light duty pads. thank you
I agree. If you're doing a walking pad or light duty pad, dry pour is fine. A pad that is going to experience real work and weight, you need the tensile strength that a regular poured concrete will provide.
That's like an 8 x 30 area correct. Not sure how 138 bags completed that.
Those are 80# bags. Certainly doable.
it's been almost a year... can you post a video on how your dry pour worked out and how it's holding up? Thanks in advance
How is it holding up?
I need a boat ramp. Came here to see a large pour.
Looks promising! How long did you wait to drive a car on it please? I would like use this technique for the base of my small swimming pool
PLEASE, KEEP POSTING UPDATES!!!! As far as I can tell, this is the largest dry pour concrete pad, used daily, that is the oldest. I watch for your updates like a hawk. Your updates, over time, prove that this method works, and lasts, giving all us confidence that it is worth doing! Please keep posting updates as the years go on, and if you can, park your heaviest vehicle there, as often as you can, to really test it out (some of us got big trucks)!!! Again love it, keep posting updates!!
Definitely a serious undertaking. Just gonna be nice and say good job on not being afraid of hard work.
Gonna leave that form in there? What u saved, gonna pay more tarring it back up
15 years experience couldn’t watch that , made way more work for your myself , be doing it again in year , any bag mix is junk , mixed or not, get a truck. Thanks for the laugh . Hope you didn’t waste to many people time and money.
Good video
Isn't the dry stuff available wholesale by the trailer load?
Can I use this same technique on my basement floor?
I just came onto this videos and I like it and I feel like I could improve on it. I might do some small projects before I attempt something ridiculous in size like a shop
looks outstanding to me great work!
I’d rather pour out 5 yds and strike it off and broom it and be done in 4 hrs than all that emptying bags and sawing . Just saying but you do what you do !!
i never in my life seen someone use what is that chain link fencing instead of rebar???
Good job
Are you going to put expansion joints in it? It might save it.
Expansion joint would be a solution for the transition..
We're is the sun. LoL must be playing video games
It’s cheaper to have it delivered and it’s done correctly. Add it up before a comment.

Thank you! Great insight on how it held up 👍🏾 you did awesome
There is a video on it
So this slab is 6in deep, with chain-link after 2-3 inches?
Wow using chain-link fencing instead of Rebar. I love it.
Nooooo. It takes longer to cure and cracks easier.
whats the dimensions.
Great experiment, but a job that big, you would probably be better off, and less work to just call in a wet pour truck that mixes it on site and you pay for what you use. Pour it in, and screed it with a 2x4 like you did with the dry pour method. You were not going for perfection or beuti anyways. I know that it was an experiment and I appreciate that. What I believe dry pour method is for a small enough slab that you can't justify to call in a concrete truck, but where you have no experience with concrete and hand mixing is too much work. Great video!
1500 bucks? Thats enough for 4 yards in a mixer truck, basic set of tools, and a case of beer for your buddies to come help you finish it.
Damn this is an impressive finish if you ask me! This is the best finish I have seen from dry pour.
So it's been almost a year. How about posting a video of the pour to date. I'm curious to see if it lasts as long as a ready mix pour. It turned out great and hopefully it lasts. There's only 2 kinds of concrete. Concrete that's cracked and concrete that's going to crack
I 100% guarantee its toast. They dont work. I have tried. They chip away into an absolute disaster
He has an update it looks fine
@@cheeseymccheese7249he has an update video
I think sections would be a bit easier. Please don’t use a fence for your barring. The reason is it stretches and that allows the concrete to move. You don’t want the concrete to move in any direction.
Fresh concrete will never bond to existing concrete . It will stick , but won't bond
What concrete did you use
So It's been 8 months. Any cracks, any issues?
it's 8 months later... how is it holding up?
