never can get enough of steve perry. i'm 60 years old. i was in 7th grade when steve perry joined journey. i enjoyed journey before steve perry joined the band. i liked their original jazzish type sound. had a feeling that they would do okay, but not great because it wasn't the "mainstreet" type of sound, but still great. when steve perry joined the band, the sound of journey changed. the original singer was good, but steve perry was on a totally different level. he made journey from being good to being great. no disrespect to the singer before steve perry. steve made journey more main stream. all the band members were gifted and had the right chemistry. it took me a "hot" minute to get used to steve perry as the lead singer for journey, but i think they made the best choice for their musical careers.

People always talk about how great all the other rock singers are (Freddie Mercury, etc) but often forget guys like Steve Perry. I think he may be the greatest of all time.
