Well done.!!! Good safety advice too, and a very strong cornerpost set-up! - Unlike what some other fencing contractors make which obviously don't have that "seriously strong design" that you create with the 4 inch diameter 10 ft long (4,5 ft or so in the ground?) and the cornerpost and 2.5 inch diameter brazing pipe welded to a 3 inch diameter gal pipe rammed 6 ft into the ground.!!! 🙄👍 No need to worry about termites or grass fires, or virtually anything else destroying that post and braze set-up.! I don't know how you can see to weld the pipes with all the toxic fumes and smoke coming from the welding-rods as well as the vaporized zinc coatings of the pipes.!?😵 PS. Your comment regarding auto-darkening helmets has been noted, so now I shall go back to the old "fixed tinted type of welding helmet" as I don't want to encourage glaucoma.!!! Regards from Niels.🙄

I think this video is really helpful, but I also found it a little confusing when it comes to marking and cutting the pipe...such as where exactly do you put the pipe clamp...it looks like it's placed to line-up at the bottom of the knee brace. Secondly, it appears you go to make second dot on the side of the pipe 1/2" outward, but you don't clearly show it...however you see the second dot when you go to cut the pipe. And when it comes to cutting the pipe, you don't say if you're cutting the top or the bottom first...however you can see the two dots on the side and know it's the top. And lastly, it would be nice if you showed doing this same thing but with an exposed stubby (above ground) where a person is welding it up just like the vertical post. I think it's great also that you point out to be smart and to have water and a fire extinguisher available! I'm sure once you do it, it's a no-brainer...but for us beginners, a little more detail would be helpful. Thanks again for this video...can't wait to try it!

Why is 9 gage wire wrong for bracing with? Is it because it's low-tensile, or "stretchier"? I would have thought that the thicker wire takes longer to rust, and can also hold more load when double wrapped. Thanks! Great video!

You young guys and your fancy post-driving machines make this old man envious. Only machine we had on the farm (for "planting" fence posts) was a 3-point mounted , PTO-driven post auger.

Drink milk after welding galvanized metals right away! Respirator is a good idea!

Two problems with this tool. It buries the staple deep and hard plus when the glue on the staples is a little messy it makes the gun misfire and it’ll cut your wire every time. And that sucks.

The test patch…. Long distance posts… I know this is super old it but looks like that would work for alpaca, minus the hot wire on top. Have you had any clients try it? They don’t really challenge fence line so I’m thinking this spacing would be fine. How’s the fence holding up? Wish you were in Eastern Washington

I swear I've watched this video at least five times! 😊 It has SO much useful information! I am making a deer fence so I can grow fruit trees without them getting devoured. In the video you mention that it's possible to use just the gripple tool to tension a shorter length of fence... How short exactly? My longest run is 80' and I'm wondering if I can skip investing in the strainers and board. Thank you very much!

I wouldn't ever presume to teach you anything but the Milwaukee M18 portable is hard to beat.

It is always enjoyable to watch a craftsman work.

I would have tighten, then tied it down to a good post. Once you cut that fence, you will always have a weak spot there. I like your chain pullers though. I always pinch my fingers using come-a-longs.

Why not leave the brace pipe clear of the ground 6-8 inches, so you can weld right the way around and coat it with galvanising paint? I say this as a boilermaker and pressure welder for 40 years, and a farmer who likes great steel fences. Edit: and mate, you speak of safety, but no eye protection when cutting (most important things you own)?

Yeah, your eye and ear protection will help when your head is 3 feet in the ground after slipping off of those forks. Have to say I have never seen net wire stretched up that high. Stay safe out there. Or at least go home not hurting.
