The official cemetery of the town of Whroo, Victoria, Australia, a mining town where the population rose and fell depending on the weather, health issues and recent gold finds in the area. The first recorded burial in the cemetery is in 1858 although the town actually began 5 years earlier there are over 400 graves, a great place worth the trip. www.australiancemeteries.com.au/vic/campaspe/whro...

Hard times for sure. When i was out in Karlimilyi (the rudall river NP) on a 4wd club trip we found a restored grave (thankyou outback graves). It said here lies (sorry i forgot name of the women) who died due to her husband's neglect. So many untold hardships...

Great video. Thank you for posting it. I still remember getting a map of the world as a present when I think I was around 10 years old. It was a Mercator projection that when you unfolded it and laid it flat it covered up the kitchen table. All the major railroads of the world were marked on it. Including this one mysterious one all by itself a long way from anywhere. The ten year old me imagined amazing things that this railway must serve to be out there especially built so far away. Years passed and one day as my wife and I took our kids to a railway museum in Ipswich one of the exhibits we saw is the original Gulflander railcar. A French Penhard I think. Anyway, the penny dropped. And all these memories came flooding back. I realised I was looking at a train connected to my childhood dreams of what that mysterious railway might be. I need to visit Normanton to ride the Gulflander. Thanks again.

It’s a great place to visit, very interesting part of our history, I to had wanted to go there most of my life it took me 60 years and even if its not the old train most of the gear dates back to that time the wife and my self had a great time in Normanton we stayed at the Gulfland Motel And Caravan Park a great place and would go back

Jim, would you be so kind as to ask the group to put up some video about the transmission and drive arrangement please. I'm intrigued that this is a mechanical drive machine. Also, the wikipedia page lists this class as having a Cat D355E engine but I'm wondering if they actually meant D353E. I'm unable to find any online reference to a D355E engine. If they could post the engine serial number, that might shed some light on the engine model.
