Not all managers are bullies however lots of them are lots of coworkers are bullies, in some workplaces they will play mobbing games, spread malicious gossiping lies, in most of the workplaces where I have had another coworker harrass me they were almost always FAKE pretend boss kiss ups yes pretending to the manager that they are the PRIZED person there and that the boss should consider recognizing them as the PRIZED person, so these types of people invent lies about you and others they want to control or steal credit, and ideas from they are known also to colude with other gossiping colleagues on the floor to further destroy you yes some of these people may even actually enjoy participating as they are friends of the bully they maybe getting some thing from the bully and are more than happy to willfully participate and thereby become even more crafty on the load of bull crap their inventing to get you fired. They might want you gone because your position might actually be perfect for their family and personal friends could easily aquire and fill oh yes this is a huge problem in many workplaces where the workplace has enormous workplace hiring imbalances (ie) one culture hiring practices by the most part 95% of that workplace will be the bosses or employers favorites culture to hire, yes regardless of workplace laws in North America laws are only laws that there is no real penalty so employers are racist too.

Have you heard of Clair Hunt? She's has some excellent videos on UA-cam regarding bullying I have watched all of them. Many workplace bullies target certain people generally high performers, not all high performer even know that they are high performers, they we think our way of working is perfectly normal and acceptable and that any employer would want someone like that, apparently not, seems like most employer like people who waste time and screw around been my experience, even such people are praised this I find really toxic and disturbing when and employer is praising a complete loser low performer while constantly harrassing high performers, expecting high performers to do 5 times more work than everybody else with no increase in pay. Tactics I have learned over the years invent stories to tell your coworkers tell them that your friend is in law enforcement they work as a undercover investigator for large and small firms they are also actors playing a roll like warehouse worker, temporary manager, school teacher yes schools need undercover investigators to work as teachers their is always sneaky people out there head gamers lots of school teacher bullies oh yes their is, bullies are everywhere in about 90% of most workplaces.

Top performer here. Warehouse worker. Managers/ supervisors cause mobbing on me. I keep leaving these jobs to enter another. What can I do? I'm a quiet, athletic, quick learn, woman. I feel I'm average looking. They try the isolation technique, which didn't work, I do not have an issue with that. Then they tried the trash talk when I am ear shot. This didn't work as much as they hoped for( earplugs)😊. Then getting other departments to do the above to me. This has been going on close to 2 years. Financial and insurance issues are involved. I've avoided and don't speak very much at all. I'm a level 1 who tends to be bullied by managers and supervisors. They use the other level 1's to attack me. They use the level 3 to attack me and incite the level 1's to engage. Does this mean , I need to be my own boss and venture entrepreneur world? Serious and experienced answers please.

I have worked at three different state agencies in all three appointing authority which is the real structure is the biggest bully of them all. So of course all of their directors are bullies. I had two constructively discharge from an agency where the superintendent, hr, my supervisor was a bully I was demoted and my new supervisor was a bully. You can't complain to anybody because all the complaints go to the bullies superintendent and hr. My last boss quit just before I resigned, my first boss just retired and they are letting her take a year of leave which is of course against policy. Just heard HR is on her way out now just to get rid of the superintendent. Think the state agency will start over and do it right? Doubt it. The prior superintendent was a bully his whole entire tenure which was almost 20

Going through this as a veteran teacher in a new school setting. Principal bullies covertly, and overtly. Gaslighting is a daily occurrence. Lying, taking credit, shaming teachers, allowing EAs to undermine teachers, encouraging staff to run to her and report any student or staff behaviour. Reading staff emails. She even gaslights and manipulates in her prayers. Meetings are a nightmare. I think I’m done after this year.

there’s a good book by Dr Niemi the bully at work. Came out about 15 years ago. Bullies pick on nice good employees. these type of individuals are reluctant to stick up for themselves. That’s the bully as even more encouraged to select this individual. Management frequently won’t look at the situation or will dismiss it. You have a little options if you’re fairly new on the job or if it’s a very small company.

Where I work , I've had two team leaders covert workplace bullying me spreading private and personal information, I thought they would just give up , but they used their position to help spread the word to most new employees, to defame me , this has now gone into the community as each person tells two people and so on , I'd imagine the stories have altered , either way there's no going back , plenty of gosting , and they have a large herd of devotees and the bystanders etc , they only hear the gossip once so no one can see the big picture that I'm workplace bullied , the Bully even turned most of the management against me , a few years back they started locking and unlocking tool boxes , it was huge ly discriminating , I crushed my wrist a little one shift ,manager took me to health centre for xray , all was ok and a month later I got the bill , I handed it to the team leader , a month later I got another bill, I took this one to the office lady , a month later I got the final notice pay or else , I payed it . I since got that bit sorted through a pay claim and mediation but now wish I'd not signed that bit off , they are cunning I am in the process deciding weather or not to proceed with more bullying tactics from them , I think they have also cyber bullyed me , so hard to get some one to speak (un written code of silence )and gain solid evidence, this has been going on 17-18 years it's wearing on my brain a bit now , amazing how one person decides to fuck someone's life so they can have a good laugh and destroy you socially . The parts man/team leader that has control over the management .

Very great discussion. I have been researching workplace abuse for a few years and have commented that there seems to be a lot of things on UA-cam regarding abuse in relationships but not enough information about workplace abuse. I was quite pleased to see this podcast making the connection. I would like to add that bullying is highly reported in nursing, schools and government positions but this doesn't mean it is less prominent in other areas. It can be extremely prominent in all areas of the workforce. The lesser reported would be lower paying jobs such as factory workers and restaurant staff whom, in many cases, live paycheck-to-paycheck and cannot risk the consequences or potential retaliation of reporting workplace abuse. I personally have experienced workplace abuse in almost every company I have worked in. I have left so many companies due to workplace abuse that I have lost count. I have finally decided to fight it in my current workplace which I have worked for almost 18 years. Thanks again for the podcast.

I don't even get paid by my boss. And yes I have had coworkers take credit for my work. Also, medicine can be very dangerous if mishandled and sometimes medical professionals do things that have lifelong consequences for families.

I too stumbled across this video. Experienced bullying and harassment as a RN by one doctor and a coworker. Its very stressful to experience this especially in a high stress environment like healthcare. I moved to another area to avoid that coworker and I had less to do with that doctor. And he could no longer abuse me as their were witnesses in the new nursing area. I’m retired now and glad to be out of that.

@@ontariotechsocialsciencean6916 I've been mobbed and gaslighting at work for over 12 years till present. Full of NPD cowards at work and will end up exposing themselves.. I'm a top worker, jealous of me big time and of my money and condo too. Defamation of character. Saying I'm a stalker, I drink, I'm crazy. All bs. Managers are scared of the bullies, they do nothing, union, police are all totally useless too. Toxic workplace in healthcare. Been working 38 years and never been suspended. Action speaks louder than words. But this crap never ends trying to scare the women at work, all the insecure and toxic women. I will never quit due to these lazy bums with no life. These 2 guys should be locked up and have the manager fired.

What can be done? 1. Start including people who use drugs in conversations about drug policy. 2. Respectable people who use drugs, get out of the closet. Especially those who don't have an addiction problem. 3. Write a letter in support of drug policy reform to Oshawa MP Colin Carrie, and both Provincial & Federal Health Ministers.
