New years eve 2023. Not a lot of snow, but we headed up anyway to let the kids try out their new modded 120 for the first time. They both really had a great time and we got to camp out and enjoy the weekend in the snow. Wanted to share for my friends and family and whoever wants to watch. Thank you all for watching.
Snowmobiling Hwy's 108 & 4 Deep snow!

FPV GoPro clips over 3 days of myself snowmobiling highways 108 and 4. The first day the snow was pretty set up from high snow levels and sunshine. the second two days the snow levels dropped and it was extremely deep snow conditions. Day 2 we ventured to lower elevation for some easier riding and it paid off big time on a really fun ride. Enjoy!

Went up on an adventure the day after Christmas to ride with my buddy Curtis and the 108 crew. Snow was deep and our sleds were hooking up well. Mostly on the road doing the pow rodeo behind the guys playing it safe, but some great full pin moments as well. Hope you all are enjoying the fresh snow out there!

Did you get some of this fresh new year powder? ua-cam.com/video/pOijVBoiKlQ/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
I've been up a handful of times this season, but havn't been up this new year yet. maybe this weekend with the kids.
Indian valley! My backyard
Is there a snowmobile trail map for the area? Are there any groomed trails?
Are you counting down the days to fresh Powder? I heard they are shutting the roads down for winter... Only a matter of time now! Little snow here and there at high elevation!
Oh yea baby! Let it snow! Let's go!
I need parts!!! Do you sell em?
Call Jerry @ willystruckwarehouse.com/
Awesome video reminds me of when I had my 2 Jeeps.
Have you had any issues with this setup? I’m interested in doing this to my 5gen 4Runner
not yet, Trucks currently at 55k Mi, and I change oil every 10k, with amsoil signature oil and filters. I've had oil tested multiple times and every time it comes back looking great and recommended to push my interval to 15k.
B.D.R production. Well, if y’all get stuck Hawk Tauh , and Spit on that Thang! 😂
What happened to this truck? Any more vídeos
Yep, time for a change.
Dónde los tienen?
where's abouts
Sierra Nevada.
Wow what a great session! What area was this? BTW nice Mustang. I have a 64' Chevy Nova. Fun old cars!
Great footage looked like nice powder, clear sunny day, thanks for sharing! Hope you get out again after this weekend dump of more snow!
Yep! Thank you. Headed up 88 tommorrow!
Wow, you hit Iron Mountain, 88 over where we like to play! Such a great Family outing! That 120 is the cutest snowmobile I have ever seen. Perfect size for your kids. Even more fun it has enough power to carry them 2 up. We just hit the trails around Bear River Reservoir today! Expect a video in a few days. We managed to keep both our vintage Sleds happy for the Ride today.
Awesome! Did they groom it yet? I know they do sometimes. Nothing was groomed yet last weekend. Awesome you guys made it out there. This little 120 has a predator 212 engine and longer track so it's got a bit more power than normal. It's perfect for them.
@@Rickydbaby unfortunately Trail was not groomed, pretty rutted out for our sleds. But whenever we could find a shoulder wide enough that was smooth we hit it and was much smoother. There was a large spot below the Dam un-ridden where we ripped it that was probably the best snow of the day!
Nice video! I just bought the oil filter adapter and the inverted mount. Probably an obvious question/answer, but does IN on adapter go to OUT on inverted mount and IN on inverted mount go to OUT on oil filter adapter? Reason I ask is because I might also incorporate an oil cooler and inline thermostat.
So... Is there enough snow yet for you to go hit Highway 4 for this season?
Not yet. Fingers crossed we get some snow soon.
Enough Snow for you? Did you get out yet? I am heading up on the 19th.
@@upcountryoffroad2906 oh yea! Just rode yesterday and today it was really good up above 8k.
@@Rickydbaby I am so jealous! Hope you got some footage. If so be sure to post it soon!
Hey Have you ever Snowmobiled by Bear River Reservoir off Highway 88? Cole Creek loop road is supposed to a nice spot, but not able to find much fresh Intel and no videos on it. OR are you mostly hitting past Snow gate on Highway 4 these Days?
Never rode down there yet. I have done some backcountry riding from iron mtn up to mud lake road/ Tragedy springs. But never done into bear river res. My buddies have and did the jeep loop from iron. Up to tragedy, out mud lake road and around down Pardoes trail to bear river and back to iron. Need a good snow year like last year for that. Theirs been years recently where it remains very thin down there by bear river with the Warmer El Niño storms.
I can’t wait to wheel mine!!!!
Wish you drive it better
Looks extra fun
Wow, Day 2 and 3 are no Joke! You know it is deep powder when you can't even see your buddies sled in front of you. Wonder if anyone makes a Hydrofoil to add between your front ski's to get more lift to float even higher in the powder.
Hahaha. Dude I'm absolutely loving the new Polaris Matryx. The sled just wants to lift up out of the snow. It's so much fun. Even then day 3 it was so stupid deep. Was a Perfect day if you owned a boost 165. We got stuck so much it wasn't even funny. Thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoyed it!
I hope this means you're sled is all fixed! Great footage. Looks like a great day out in the snow!
Yea man! Indy Specialties long rod motor is running strong. got about 90 miles on it now and it's pulling strong so far! Bring back the snow!
You going out sledding this weekend? Gonna be up highway 4 might bring the sled and take my daughter out for a family ride.
@@Rickydbaby Yeah holiday weekend, we will be trying to hit some of the trail system off Highway 88 by Bear River Reservoir. I think I found a spot where the kids can sled too while I try to Rangle the Vintage sleds. Hoping to get the 84 Safari out for a ride. Looks like good storm going to hit next Tuesday!
Looks like you caught some of this fresh powder! Any word yet on what went out on your engine?
Ring and piston failure pto side. We left it after this ride and went back to retrieve it 2 days later. Engine is in the machine shop now being rebuilt. Tons of fun. Until that. This was a couple days before the huge dump so we got it outta there just in time.
@@Rickydbaby wow, even still glad you were able to get it out of there. I have been thinking about recovery gear for dragging out a down sled. Especially since our first venture into sledding is a couple of vintage sleds, so odds are high one of them might get Fussy.
Great video! Looks like you had a ball back in the Trees! Did you guys stage at the Snow Park/ Gate? Pretty good Run almost 8 miles back to the Donnell Lake Vista, awesome view! Hoping to get up to Iron Mountain area soon.
Thanks! It was a blast. Yes we staged at the snow park. We went up past Kennedy meadows about 3 mi past and turned around. It was awesome! Iron mountain is a fun place as well!
A lot of bouncing but it's fun, especially when you're going backwards..🤣
Keep enjoying, keep riding, keep driving, and keep playing driving dirty.. And along with your dog😉
How many feet of hose did you use look like 3- 4 feet. Maybe?
I would 5-6ft to be safe. Looks like close to 4ft
Hi Rick, great video. The first Baxter link doesn’t work anymore, but I had a question about your setup/relocation. Do I need both the Toyota TR-502-BK Cartridge To Remote Adapter (Multi-Port) and the Inverted Remote Oil Filter Mount only, then run some tubing up to the inverted mount?
Exactly! The inverted mount. And multi port adapter. Then buy tubing and AN fittings. With the multi port you can use 2 straight fittings and get 2 45 degree fittings for the inverted mount up top if u plan to mount in a similar location to mine.
Thank you Rick! I already fumoto so this last mod is a must!
That was a Crazy storm weekend! Looks like a ton of fun!
It was fun. Pretty wild that we even got to get out that day. It came in and dumped another 3-4ft on top of this. Then it didn't snow damn near for the rest of the season. Weird winter. Hope we get lots of snow this season! Hope to see you out at iron mountain on those sleds!
U need to make more videos like these
Thank you, Glad you enjoyed it!
@@Rickydbaby did u use a drone or how did u get such a steady video? Am about to get a Willy’s pickup and this is the only video where someone is actually driving it like it suppose to
@@edsosa9954 a lot of the footage is drone footage. But it's about 50/50 the other 50 is GoPro footage using a gimbal. Following the truck with the atv that pulled it out.
Nice setup........ Did you need to modify anything UNDER the hood to install the new oil filter attachment point ?
Not really. Just had to drill a couple holes to mount the Baxter inverted filter unit. It's been a nice setup.
@@Rickydbaby Does the system come with all the fittings and braided lines that run down under the motor and do you add additional oil for this system ?
@@markvaughn8096 bought separate. They are an fittings and hose. I used two 90's and 2 45's. I did add a little bit of extra oil only on the first oil change and all other charge after are just the same you add before.
Love this truck. I’ve got a 53 wagon and I want a green pickup to match it.
Thanks I’m gonna install the Baxter on my Jeep. Just curious how long is your OCI and how did the oil report look
I went for a 10,000mi interval I'm two changes in now since adding this. First oil report was great and still had life left in the oil to go further. I'm running amsoil signature 0w-20.

This Baxter adapter is about $250. I was surprised with the price.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you; the $500 oil change.
Great music video
Do you think it's worth the extra money for ams oil or is there another oil that's just as good... I change oil every 5000 miles anyway and kinda figured the more expensive ams oil would be a waste to change so frequently
I use Mobil 1 on other vehicles. However on the Tacoma I change every 10k with amsoil and amsoil filter. Black stone testing confirmed good additives still in the oil and recommended to try a 12k interval. I'll stick to 10k for now.
What’s keeping you from taking a hole saw and making that bottom hole a bit bigger.
Our '59's frame would twist enough to spring leaks in the radiator. Maybe that was because Dad put that little truck into some god-awful places.
Thanks for the vid. I'm going to buy this from Baxter for my 2019 TACOMA . Where did you get the hoses & fittings and what is the length required? Any other mounting info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the vid. I was hoping to see the filter actually being removed (to get an idea of mess containment). You said the oil drained back into the engine from the filter. a few questions about this... 1) When you restart the engine after the oil change, do you fee like it takes a second or 2 for the oil to fill up the (longer additional) oil lines AND filter (since filter is mounted right side up now, with no real way to pre-oil the filter). 2) Do you have a rough guestimate of how much oil (if any) is actually left in the filter housing after the filter drains back into the engine (as you spin it totally off? 3) Does the oil ever overflow from the adapter (making a mess in the engine bay? 4 ) Do you have to wipe the oil out of the adapter before putting a new filter back on? Your fast reply would be greatly appreciated as I am thinking of ordering one of these VERY soon.
Hi there. The oil filter has an anti drain valve built in so no worries on oil draining back down into the engine until you actually unscrew it. When you unscrew it it just drains into the housing and down the hose. So there is some small amounts of old oil that remains in the hose and the bottom Baxter adapter during an oil change that there is no way to drain/remove. Haven't had any mess or spill. I do get a paper towel and just quickly whipe the inside of the filter mount before installing my new filter.
@@Rickydbaby Thanks!
Awesome 😎 views 👍 looks like fun 😃
How is it that your 3gen tacoma has the oil filter on top were the motor is and my oil filter on my 3 gen is at the bottom of the motor
Check out the title of the video it explains how, "baxter oil filter inverted mount"
I seen how its install. But on your video u have it ontop were the motor is instead at the bottom of the motor
@@teddymuscio7419 it’s a kit that replaces the cartridge filter and plumbs it up top to the inverted spin on filter. When he checks for leaks you can see the two 90 degree fittings from the relocation housing. Look at 5:08 in the video you can see the two hoses and fittings that connect to a replacement housing below. The entire setup includes the bottom housing as well as the top inverted mount for the spin on filter.
Yes i seen that in the video. I was just amazed that u can change it to a cartridge then paper filter.
HI RICK I HOPE ALL IS WELL WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. I HAVE A 2019 TACOMA SR5 ACCESS CAB WITH THE V6 I REALLY LIKE THE BAXTER SET UP YOU HAVE .I JUST WANTED TO KNOW DOES THE ENGINE STILL GET THE REQUIRED AMOUNT OF OIL FLOW REQUIRED FOR PROPER LUBRICATION. AND HOW MANY MILES DO YOU HAVE ON THE BAXTER UNIT . PLEASE ADVISE THANK YOU AND HAVE A BLESSED AND WONDERFUL DAY
Hi there, Thank you for the kind words! I'm really loving the Baxter setup so far. I just got back my Oil test sample and was advised all looks normal and well and could even push my 10k interval to 12k as there is still additive left in the oil. Great info to know. I've got about 15k miles on the Baxter setup thus far and the only issues I had was I had to replace the hoses with a higher quality hose after about 5k miles as I had developed a leak in one hose. after that I've had no leaks and no issues.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO RESPOND IM GOING TO GET THE BAXTER BLACK SPIN ON REPLACEMENT INSERT WHAT KIND OF FILTER TO I GET FOR THAT . CAN I USE A TOYOTA FACTORY SPIN ON OR ? . PLEASE ADVISE. I HAVEN'T A CLUE
@@Rickydbaby I'm keenly interested in knowing what you chose for the interconnecting hoses and how you routed them. Thanks for sharing!
I forgot to ask, how much extra oil does your truck take with the filter modifications? My 2020 takes 6.2 quarts with factory setup
I installed my setup based on Ricks helpful video. I use about an extra 1/2 quart.
Seems like the first change with the Baxter was about an extra 1/2 quart but after that no extra added oil is necessary on each change.
@@Rickydbaby That's due to the initial extra 1/2 quart doesn't have the means to drain from your system
@@Accuracy1st yes exactly!
Nice. I use amsoil as well and have the latest fumoto drain valve that has larger drain bore but haven't installed it yet. I was hoping you had a "how to" video on mounting the inverted adapter. I just learned of the Baxter products tonight and plan to make purchase next week. Thanks for the video!
Hey there, Check out this thread where toward the last few pages myself and others have posted some useful info on how we installed our setups. Hope it helps. www.tacomaworld.com/threads/it-got-real-baxter-adapter-spin-on-filter-oil-change.582655/page-14
@@Rickydbaby Thanks for the link. I have a question. With using the inverted system/relocation, and you remove the spin on oil filter, all that used oil drains down the hose to the original canister location where the Baxter adapter is located so that portion of oil isn't changed when doing oil change. About how much used oil is left in the hose and where the Baxter adapter screws in to the canister location?
@@Accuracy1st That's a very good question and assumption. I initially just assumed the oil would make it's way back into the pan, but I believe you may be correct that the oil drains down and collects into the original filter location. I'd have to say it's probably about a 1/2 qt of oil.
@@Rickydbaby I just ordered my adapter Monday. I was trying to decide if I wanted to use the inverted relocation mount as well for convenience. I spoke with Mr. Baxter and he did tell me about 1/2 qt residual oil does not drain during oil change. As such, I opted to go with the one piece adapter to fit where the canister is located and will be using Purolator BOSS 14670 filters
