I have a 3412 engine that looks just like that one. Would love to know what all you did to it. Do you have the build information - what pump settings, injectors, turbos, etc..?
it was a complete rebuild by Caterpillar , i exchanged my for this one.

@@Darth-Nihilus1 Its just shocking how much CAT has lost in market share during that same time frame. They had a nice little rivalry back then with Detroit Diesel. Now, you can't hardly find a Cat in a truck. I guess they found their home in construction equipment.

The length of a 3412 from the face of the bellhousing to the front of the crankshaft pulley is about 66". Width is about 37" and height from the oil pan up is about 50". From the exhaust manifolds up the height is about 23". The industrial and generator style engines like this one have the turbo on the back of the engine which may interfere with the cab. If you get the engine from the Cat wheel loaders they have the turbos on the side which makes the engine wider but may be a better fit for a truck.

This will permanently twist frame, axel driveshaft & gearbox all at once. I have seen those v8 730hp scania's with 3500nm tq sheeroff axels. This will sheeroff axel if you drop the clutch in 6th gear

if you switch out the crankshaft to something aftermarket does it eliminate the chance of crank walk?

Just get a 6 bolt bottom end and a 7 bolt head.
if you get the 6 bolt, better get long block, the head intake and exhaust are bigger, but you can get decent power in a 7bolt anyways, just don't shortcut on the little details inside the motor.
I went 6 bolt block and rods, weisco pistons and a 7 bolt head.

@vladvechtomov that chips ecmlink v3, it's an engine management chip that allows you to tune everything with a laptop. Costs like $550 depending on if u need an EPROM ecu or not the cost rises
