While I'll admit that a lot of things are seemingly outrageously expensive, in a lot of cases cheaper alternatives are available. Printers themselves are very cheap, but the manufacturers make their profit on ink. I get my cartridges refilled. I refill water bottles at home. Phone hookup cables are often available in Dollar or discount stores. I recently needed a cable for my headset. They asked $19.95 at a computer store, $1.98 at Princess Auto Baggage is where Airlines derive a lot of their income. And yes, they constantly think up new sources. Coffee is cheap, but it's made by employees who want to get paid, in a building that likely costs a lot for rental and utilities. Some businesses also seem to insist on making a profit. Some people actually make most of their coffee at home. Yes, textbooks are expensive. Some can be acquired secondhand, but a lot of them are good for a very short time. It takes a lot more time, effort and research to write a technical book than a novel. Fast food requires research, ingredients, labour, an almost invariably expensive location with utilities, franchise costs and hopefully some profit. Luckily I've never been dragged into any of their outlets. Meds are expensive, but a lot of them have required a lot of expensive research. They are manufactured in expensive (sterile, very controlled) environments. Yes, some have been around for years, and any research costs have been recovered. One way to get in on sharing some of the outrageous profits is by buying their stocks. I've never been a member of a gym. I've always been very active and I've always been in pretty good shape doing things that not only keep me in shape, but I've really enjoyed doing. Yes, roaming is very expensive. It's often cheaper to get a local plan when vacationing in a foreign country, The thing I'm trying to say is that there are often more cost effective alternatives. I prefer to brag about the good money-saving deals I've had than brag about how much I've spent. Just saying.

1 and 10 are interesting because they may share a common deliberate misunderstanding and were popularized by anti-theists and redditors. Interestingly, in my church history class there is a time called 'the dark ages' which refers to a stretch where we have very few Christian philosophers. or at least its 'dark to us' and that is also what 'Dark Ages' meant by some academics. It's 'dark ages' to our eyes. it didnt' mean some 'dark' bad times but meant we, today, we don't have a light on that time. our pages are 'dark'. and this wasn't even true by the 2000s when UK and Euro archeologists were finally getting 'their lights' to illuminate those middle-ages. There was plenty going on in Christendom and some of their things were so very clever, actually funny stuff, wacky inventions, all kinds of things. This idea of a 'dark age' as if we knew that when everyone became devoutly Christian then great stupidity and ugly evil darkened minds etc was almost exclusively popularized by your 20th century 'atheists'. Who.. also loved saying "ya and people thought the earth was flat'. no they did not. Where did that come from? The only best detective work says it came from two popular atheistic writers, one in France and the other in America who corresponded often enough. Its said the French author lets him in on this idea, this kind of plot that he will include in his book the misinformation that people thought the world was flat. You see? the author is suggesting he can make people believe that in the old days 'everyone thought the world was flat'. He did publish a book in which some characters mention this is what people used to believe. This seems to be it? Readers would then pass on to their friends that even though it was in a fictional novel it must be true that in real life people did think the world was flat. Some academics even tried to prove it by finding things like, for example, an old document where a writer referred to the 'flat expans of land stretching to each horizon'. "So they DID think the earth was flat". but no, they were just using it as today a writer describes the 'flat expanse of the prairies'. anyway, good enough but keep in mind there isn't anything great coming out of Islam in the middle-ages (that's a persistent myth' but yes they did capture a lot of Greek and other knowledge and had lots of Jewish, Christian and other academics and mathematicians. however.... by the time 700 and 800 roll around they were suppressing the hell out of it

I forget which X:Men it was, but there was no reason why the young Magneto would not have crushed Kevin Bacon's skull one minute after doing the same to those German soldiers. And in "The Dark Knight", there is no reason why the cops could not save both Rachel and Harvey. They have patrol cars with shortwave radios, don't they?

@YouShouldKnowGetInformed Please think logically. Rose nearly froze to death and she was out of the water and wearing a coat that was soaking wet. Jack wasn’t wearing a coat. He would have succumbed to the freezing air temperature and died, especially since he would have been soaking wet too.

Not a few of these jobs still exist. Alchemist apprentice is the forerunner of the laboratory technician and I would argue that Alchemy was always risky. The knocker-Upper still exist. Yes, its called an alarm but does the same job even if it is a machine. Professional mourners certainly exist.
