E46 M3 SMG Review (2024)
People always ask me what it's like to drive an e46 with the SMG transmission. Not really, but I got a new camera so I thought I would shoot a practical SMG review on the way to cars and coffee.

It would be really easy for one of these companies to make them have a 2 speed gear box. All you need is a planetary gear set with a clutch to lock it into high gear.
O ring? Don't know what it is but try using a gasket and oil resistant Permatex in a tube
How are you..congrats on this build..i bought a chineses kit a while back and just couldnt get it to run no matter how much i tinkered with it..very impressed..just bought a phantom 85 for my shwinn and cant wait to install it and get back into it..does this bike still run? What have u been up to?. Cheers and be safe
Hopefully by now you’ve finally got the set screws in place.!.
Wouldn't go back if I could.
Do you still have to pedal
Not really. It's still helpful to pedal from a dead stop but the engine can move the bike from zero if you're in first gear.
The cactus look like toothpicks from your altitude. Great adventure despite the mishap.
was it hard/heavy to pedal back?
your head gasket should be turned 90 degrees to let air go through the fins. great bike though!
Can the jackshaft kit work on one piece crank
Don't think so.
@@kelso840 oh
Is this a 5 speed manual? I personally have a 3.3 xterra 5 speed and have been thinking about supercharging it
Yep.
I have a 04 3.3L automatic I was thinking about supercharging it any good recommendations for superchargers?
@@Just_Another_UA-cam_channel_ the setup that came with this engine package.
@@kelso840oh so it’s the factory supercharger nice bro
it looks like when the clutch kicks in , you're involuntarily force to pedal is run????????????
How did you manage to connect the hoses for the supercharger bypass valve and to the supercharger bypass solenoid. I tried to s/c a 2001 xterra n/a but couldn’t figure out where to connect them
I'm not running a bypass solenoid. Lower port on the bypass valve is exposed to atmosphere.
Ohh so a shift kit is how you get the power to the pedals can this give it a higher top speed? Do the peddles spin fast with it or can you keep them still ?
The pedals are on their own freewheel that comes with the kit so they only grab in the direction you pedal in.
Thank you
The simpler the mechanism, the better.🎉
I wanted to get one of these but mom said no flying
SickBikeParts is now inactive. RIP
Is this the vg35?? Where did you get the super charger !? I have an 03 pathfinder er with 260kms No rust Pretty damn clean Want to do soemthing like this
vg33e engine, yes. Go for it! I suggest buying a used supercharged engine and swapping the parts over if you can.
I got that same better sound out of just doing the stock air box resonater delete. Took just the big resonater out of the drivers fender. I left the other little one on for now. Also running a k&n box filter, dont think that matyers though. Id be running a regular wix filter but the k&n rubber part is thicker and actually seals in the box.(the factory boxs tend to not clamp the best and they bow and distort in the middle (mine did)
If you send down the area that the Post starts sits in end clean A play a little grease in there it will pull smoothly.
lol the best part of this video is the Dog . 😅
Need to bring that haircut back.
Thankyou
Cool!
This might be the future of the internet.
Doggy
Thanks
I actually would be surprised if that didn’t leak considering how old a rusty it is
Dude you got the engine in their sideways! You got that all cockeyed the engine needs to be straight readjust clamps motor mounts! The drive chain are on a bind!
I had one of these on mine and it was just the finickiest thing I ever experienced. I finally tossed it after riding down the road at about 40 the chain on the jackshaft decided to explode
re seat the grabby guys . I love it .
Oh yeah 😎. "Jack Shaft"?
Literally had a e30 also working on bike in the background
Looks dangerous, don't ride near road, that'll lock up when it breaks soon !!
Ahh, you thought it would be easy! It's a BMW though, it can't be easy
it just looks over thought but thats just me. the star thats drawn with all the rectangular lines is easier to to draw than the other one but more complicated from the looks of it lol if that makes any sense at all.i retract this statement well thought out great job
Having a tensioner on the drive side of chain is asking for trouble
Why are your handlebars catywampus
Everything about the bike is catywampus. Adds character.
Before and after top speed
About the same. The engine is running rich and starts bogging up top.
I think I've seen a few ppl use like a banjo plate to mount the tensioners on for a cleaner look but whatever works for you is all it has to be! these engine kits are always fiddly and sometimes fussy but you get a good idea what they need after the first one you do
How fast does it go
How fast does it go
I opened your video to motivate myself to make bad decisions 😅 but now all I see is that E30 in the back 😍😭❤
That bad boy is scary but dude you are going for it .
Seeing this monstrosity, if I ever buy one of these kits, it's gonna go with a 3 or 5 gears within the rear hub, so it's not these tiny little chain that takes all the torque.
The set stew can be purchased most large hardware store
I know. They all rattle out. Hose clamps worked better
I always buy 2 of everything. Sometimes you just have to experiment.
How's this holding up a year later?
Still runs and rides fine. Don't ride it much anymore.
Do the pedals rotate the hole time
Nope
@@kelso840 god can you imagine lol
what size engine is on it?
It's a standard China kit. 66 or 80cc.
@@kelso840 so you got the larger motor,, here in west virginia we have to keep the 50cc to ride on the main roads and be legal , 50cc and under no license required. larger you have to have a motor cycle license.
the hole in the gear is threaded for a set screw. it would stay on and you could get rid of that hose clamp
I went to war many times with the set screws. Hose clamp and woodruff key turned out to be the most reliable solution.
Great explanation though as I didn't know anything about it either and went through a have always been good at tinkering on 2 strokes got that thing mean in the engine to really run when you change the car braiders the 1st thing and intake just like on anything for 2 stroke you put a different pipe on it that makes one heck of a difference after you get a good carb for it and it has a good intake The engine kit suck my horse I can't remember the full name Crazy Horse I don't remember but anyway that is I feel the best set up for the generic setup engine compared to that other stuff they're making now
