the camera is basically a tuned down a-1, it's af absolutely treads on the overhyped a6700, and ALSO on the a7rV (af and low light) the reason they say these two cameras have better AF is because they're making advertisings.
Which one would you prefer for architectural shots, and if they are going to be printed? Sony 16 35 zeiss sigma 16 28 2.8 tamron 17 28
Can you do a gimbal moves for those into land banking real estate
I have had my Sony A74 for more than a year, and I love everything about it, I shot a wedding where I had to shoot photo and video, this camera nailed it, crisp photos and video, now I also Have a sony A7R5 which is a totally dream to shoot.
If I can get the mk I for 800$ would be a bad decision? I can buy both, but dont want to spend 1000$ more if the difference its not too much for video
I have a7iii and a7iv, I noticed the a7iv heats up more and is battery hungry always, the a7iii last 2x more. Which is shocking.
I don’t get it, you say the flaw is the video, who the hell uses the video on an alpha camera? If you are so worried about it, get a camcorder.
Are you serious? :) like A7S lineup is videocentric. A7 lineup is for hybrid shooters. So many people use it for video first.
What I love about Sony is they make My Canon better and better. 😊
i think the sigma 24-70 art lens with second iteration is something to wait for.
I would love to try it. Especially autofocus. :)
Yeah that's the real competition. Even the first one was pretty solid, weight aside
@@martin_wood Also I was going to go for A7cii but i am tempted to wait for A7v
Sorry but I gotta be that guy. My work is primary photo related and I’m not nearly as well versed in the video world however I feel like if you are an experienced videographer your main work horse is not gonna an a74 but rather whatever the most recent A7S model is or something along those lines. Obviously the average person watching this video is probably more geared toward seeking video advice over photo advice but simply making a click bait title making this whole camera seemingly irrelevant by today’s standards because of one set back for videographers specifically when this is one of the best bang for your buck photography cameras is just kind of nonsense. Very informative, just falsely ambiguous.
Yeah, I see what you mean and thank you for feedback. I really appreciate such conversations. My point was, that this should be (and is) a go to camera for hybrid shooters for great performance in both worlds. An experienced videographer, who also shoots photos (50:50) can pick this over FX 3 or A7SIII. Now to the title. There are videographers, who shoot most things in 50/60fps so they can slow it down in post (weddings for example). For such person, the APS-C crop in 4K 60p can be a huge drawback and maybe even dealbreaker, even if photo and other video features are TOP. It depends on the shooting style, but in general, it is considered to be an issue for many. So is the title pure click bait?
Thanks Martin for these useful tips! 👍 I will try to implement them in my drum covers 🥁

Dude, please do a video on how you setup your lighting in this studio, WOW!
Hey! Thanks for watching. Im glad you like the lighting style. I no longer have this studio setup (black walls), but sure. I could do such video. I would say that for me its 3 or 2 point lighting. Key light, rim light and a practicle light (lamp, candle, anything).
Thanks bro. Big time
You’re wellcome. Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it.
Wow I learned a lot watching this video thank you so much.
Hey! I'm glad to hear that. Thank you for watching. I really appreciate that and also the feedback. Good luck with your photo journey :)
No one cares about your opinion.
Which camera is your main video camera ? Which camera did u use in this video to film yourself ?
hey! thanx for watching. My main camera is the Sony A7IV and I've shot the A-Roll with it also.
@@MartinNemeth wow thank you for tune answer! Incredible quality for the a7 IV. Which lens were u using?
@@JermaineTyron thank you :). I’m also pretty satisfied with it. My main lens is 24-70 F2.8 GM II.
Hey Martin, I love your videos man, I am a photographer and videographer also which I do with my iPhone, I would like to get a camera and shoot like that kind of stuff as well, I was thinking Sony aIII with 50mm lens, help me about this man thanks
Hey! thanks for watching my videos :) I really appreciate that. I think that if you're buying your first camera and lens, I would go with a zoom lens. Something like 16-35 or 24-70. You will be much more flexible than with just a prime 50mm. When it comes to the camera body, it's all about your budget. Most cameras are great for video and photos these days. That's why I would pick a lens first and then think about the body.
seems that most owners of Sony A7 III , IV, use it for video ... don't you shoot photo ?
Thank your adding some balance of opinions on the iPad Pro! Currently in the market for one, and this help confirm my choice!
Hey! Thanx for watching. I’m glad it helped you. :)
I just upgraded from the a7iii and wow is all I can say. The camera feels soooo premium! The a7r5 was more camera than I needed and the price of the 4 was just right. I have noticed some slight heat issues when browsing menus in movie mode but not a big deal at all.
Hey! Thanx for watching and I’m glad you like the camera too. It’s great for me too. :)
Does it only overheat during recording or photo aswell?
Yeah, my a74 came with ver 2.0 installed, and it overheated when I was setting up the menu while I was inside my house/room temp. I haven't pushed it much outside, but did use it on some low 90 degree days with high humidity. It hasn't given me a heat warning since that first time - although I'm still worried about it?! I'll definitely be buying one of those new clip on fans that I've seen around the social webs.
🔥🔥 the app looks great, thanks for the info
You’re welcome :) Hope you are doing great.
I shoot 4k on a 1080 timeline with no issues. I freaking love this camera. Hybrid that does it all. No complaints here
I’m also using it on my projects. Really satisfied. Thanx for watching.
i come from a fujifilm xt30 and was looking for a full frame upgrade and i was looking for a7siii or a7iv. i mostly do music photography and recently i'm starting with video aswell, you think a7iv would be a good choice?
Hey! thanks for watching. I really appreciate it. If you're choosing between these 2, you have to ask yourself if you want to have good photos and good videos or if you want to focus mostly on video. For the first case I would recommend A7IV.
Loved how you shared your insights and transparency about the learning curve. The final film look you achieved was stunning 😍
Hey! Thanks so much for watching and leaving feedback. Yeah, it’s definitely not a “one click” grading but I like it and I use it to this day. :) I have moved a bit forward with it and now I only use Dehancer for grading my S-Log3 footage. :)
What about Canon R6 Mll ?
Good tips, i didnt know How to make a painting from image, its a bit conplicated.
Yeah, it took me a litte time on Google / UA-cam to find this solution :). Another example, that proves, you still need to do your bit of work even with AI.
I believe Sony has to change its strategy... it worked for the last 10 yrs but it needs to create more true hybrid models. Especially a mid-tier hybrid is totally missing. Obviously Sony is pressuring a user either to buy two bodies or to buy the A1 or the A7IV but at this point in time the best option would be to create a model in between the A1 and A7IV to cover the hybrid gap. Other companies are becoming way more hybrid and that's an existential danger for Sony. If they are wise they will see this, if they are arrogant they will not and maybe lose market leadership at some point.
The real problem it’s overheating
Hey! Thanks for watching :). I never had any issues with it. I guess that during summer, on a direct sunlight it might overheat after some time.
Does it only overheat during video recording or photo aswell?
I don't think it's a problem in photo? I guess if you have to leave it turned on, and are shooting bursts the whole battery life - but that's probably more demanding than video...@@ThrillSeekersYT
@@MartinNemethin the power settings change the power off temp to high and it won’t have any problems
I have both these lenses. I found myself in a great location and after many years using Fuji and GM lenses struggled with the lack of aperture ring on my Tamron. It was enough of a struggle that I could only think to myself "how I wish I had an aperture ring." Later on that shoot I had a shot that needed an instant switch to manual focus. No such switch on the Tamron (you could use the hold button, but I have that mapped differently). I missed so many shots on this one day because I am so used to manual controls on my lenses. So I bought a used copy of the GM ii. Expensive, but so is every other part of my kit. I use it every single day, and it's how I make my living, so it was a worthwhile purchase. Now my Tamron is my permanent streaming lens. And sometimes if I am traveling and want the lightest possible setup, or I want to carry a less valuable lens, I have my Tamron. Image quality between the two is almost indistinguishable, except for the higher saturation of the Tamron lens.
Hey! Thank you for watching and sharing your experience. It’s exactly what I like about the number of possibilities we have these days. One might not need the aperture ring for example and save some money and for other people, this “detail” might be a game changer. :) Wish you many great shots.
Jeffrey, Please help me to understand the issue with the lack of aperture ring, I have the GM II and never use it, I prefer to use the dial in the camera to manage aperture, easier and faster, am I missing something ?, I can understand fully the AF/MF switch. BTW, I am not a pro, and after testing these two lenses, I am unimpressed with he GM, to the point that probably I will return it and keep the Tamron.....when I got my GM 135 1.8 . it was a big WOW ...the 24-70, did not impressed me at all
Its better the canon r6 mk2 no crop video
Hey, thanks for watching. Much appreciated :). From my perspective, I live in Sony ecosystem (2 bodies, lenses) and I am not really unhappy with Sony overall. I cannot imagine switching to canon just because few specs (like no crop) and changing everything and even the "muscle memory" with menus, buttons, layouts :). If you are with canon, sure, I would not recommend the A7IV. Wish you great day!
Canon's dynamic range is kinda worse, then Sony
@@gardkop1812 good to know. I can’t compare it myself.
@@MartinNemeth if you interested to that comparison and don't know exact experiments with sony's and canon's dynamic range, there's good videos from Gerald Undone, where he literally on numbers showing us, what these cameras are capable of
3:53 I think you should make side by side comparison. It is very difficult to see the difference if you compare like that. Anyway thanks for the video.
Hey, good point. Thank you for watching and leaving feedback. Much appreciated! Hope you’ll have a nice day.
Great photos 😊
Thanx! I always try to push myself :)
Honest review👍
Thank you! :)
Cant the crop be fixed by just moving back
Sometimes, but indoors and in tight spaces, this might caute some issues. Especially if you already have only some prime middle range lenses.
It's not about changing the focal length, but about worse image quality
does it lower res or whats the issue with image quality? @@gardkop1812
@@gardkop1812considering that many folks use zoom lenses for convenience when shooting video, and that the center of the frame is always sharpest-I disagree and see no quality loss in aps-c on my a7iv in 60p.
einer der besten Kameras. Sony a7iv ❤
I like it too. :) Great camera.
Some times, it looks to me the F4 is a bit sharper in the middle……
Hey, thank you for watching. It is much appreciated. I came to the same conclusion, which was shocking to me, because I liked the F4 version a little more than the GM.
@@MartinNemeth the decision of buying one off them , should be very well balanced , I don’t think i have a situation we’re i need to shoot f2.8, with 70-200 lens. The price, the weight, and the overall use of it, must be taken into account. But for me in particular the sharpness is a big one.
@@Alberto.LIS.Morais yes, i know what you mean and I share your oponion. It is a special focal length and I also cannot find much use cases for F2.8
What about the r5?
May be great, but I don’t have any experiences with it. :/
R5 has less megapixels and the RF lens costs way more that body itself ,if you intend to buy a camera over for photos only as he says in the video , a7iv is a best choice in the segment I think , and I too decided to buy a7iv , and one more thing is sony has a huge amount of 3rd party lenses for affordable price....🙌
Which preset is you favourite?
Right now, I really like the Fuji Color 100.
@@MartinNemeth ✌️👍
I actively leave this lens at home so i don’t neglect the other ones lmao
Haha :) I have sold some of old ones, so I dont have to deal with that :)
