    I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

      I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.

    I agree that networking is huge especially in financial services/banking. I constantly run into former colleagues every time I get a new job. Former colleagues have also connected me with hiring managers which have led to me receiving job offers as a result. It always feels more comfortable/less risky to hire someone that is somewhat familiar via a colleague who has already worked with them before.

    How do I figure out how to save enough to buy a home, but also put money into my savings. Can you make a video based on different salaries discussing how much to save in what category? I'm 29 years old, make $80k salary, have $45,000 in 401k and IRA and pretty much nothing saved for a house. I'm investing 20% into my 401k. I'll have my car paid off in about 4 months, then I'm not sure what to do. I was thinking of upping 401k and IRA contribution to hit the yearly max contribution. I don't like the idea of putting my money into the bank for a house as I feel it's losing value there, but I'll never be able to afford a house with such aggressive retirement savings, I think. Help!

      @permissiontobewealthy 6 місяців тому

      Thank you so much for the response and information. First of all, you are doing great! And 2nd we can definitely make another video on this specific scenario. One thing I will say is look at HYSAs… they are giving 4ish percent APR right now with inflation the way it is. So when you start that account for your shorter term house goal, that can still help your money at least retain some value inflation wise. More to come!

      These amounts reference a balance over all… it was recommended at the start that the 25 y.o. Consider investing in a ROTH IRA and then we introduced the 401k at age 40…. I’d say this would be a mix of both for the purposes of this discussion. And we could take it even further in a future video showing how a 401k match would work as well. Does that help?

And until our kid goes to college, which is still about 11 years away, I was just planning to work until then. I work for the federal government, so I have good job security, and I can contribute 'more' to our future pension. This video is making me wonder whether I should consider walking away little earlier.. hmm.

      Thanks for sharing! If you don’t mind your job or love it and there is no pressure to walk away there may not be a reason to leave. However, I think knowing your numbers is really important so you know your options are. Be sure to checkout the free resources in the description to get a bit more clarity. #AnotherOldGuyWithKids 😂

    Thank you for making this video! I’m still very early into my career but already seeing gaps forming between those who own their careers and those who don’t. Can you share how you were able to balance doing your actual job but also making moves to get yourself to the next level?
