Would have been better to with a heating engineer to re-pipe and use Vaillant controllers to allow hot water priority and remove all controls and use the flow meters to set comfort levels and have the heat only boiler running at 90+% efficiency and save the hassle and just be able to heat the whole house at lower cost of making boiler cycle heat on and off. Fuse box should be re-done as all RCBOs and the top floor fire detector should not be installed at an angle if anything, should be at the top of the slope to ensure the best chance of detection. Electrics and Heating clearly been done by un-informed individuals who have only basic knowledge hence missing out on having wired stats in every room as a basic expectation. 😠😠😠

I've got a similar issue now. I've had underfloor heating all downstairs, and everything is great. But upstairs is on a wireless separate hive control and it's lost signal, and now when I need to heating upstairs off, I have to change it on the boiler, which then turns the underfloor heating off. It's now working as one, which is causing me issues. Could you please advise 🙏 thanks

What an absolute mess of wiring and set up. Hardly anything labelled up or cable tied. At this level things should be trunked and runs should be super neat and tidy. It's difficult to see what you've done and what previous installers have done but that is a shocking mess. It seems every installer has just been in and added to a legacy set up to create that manifests in a horrendous mess of a set up. Unbelievable people pay professionals for this.

If you couldn't find a dedicated cable, but did have a cable nearby that's already in use for something else like a camera, you can always add a switch and route your WAN over a (third party gateway) VLAN, then loop it out of a LAN port on the UDM back into a WAN port. .Useful for putting a modem distant to the UDM. Don't keep that crap £100/month 3GB connection as a backup either, get something cheap on 4/5G with a Teltonika TRB device and an external antenna. I did the VLAN trick with mine to put the PoE powered TRB140 4G gateway up in a treehouse.

Hi. I'm planning to install 3 cameras with NVR. Some sources said it's cheaper and better to have 'Acusense cameras + basic NVR' rather than 'basic ip cameras + Acusense NVR'. In my case, I only want to record based on the triggered event such as human or car. Not full recording 24/7. Is it possible with Acusense cameras + basic NVR? Are there settings to let the NVR record based on the event notif by camera, not by the NVR interpretation?

90% sure the problem will have started when the smart meter was installed, most meter workers are not given full electrician training so can't legally go into RCD isolators or consumer units. Those RCD isolators can be a pain when they have clamp type connections, always coming loose when disturbed, that's why they need to be clipped in place before changing the meter 😬

A very interesting video. I love my Heatmiser system, fitted it many years ago, over 12 years maybe. Our house is open-plan on the ground floor, using a wet under floor heating (UFH), with 5 or so loops, laid in aluminium spreader plates under oak veneer engineered flooring, it is just one zone. About six years ago I added a conservatory/utility room with wet UFH, laid under screed with a natural stone tiling on top, this is a second zone. Upstairs is a third zone with ordinary radiators. The hot water is a fourth zone. We are both retired and spend a lot of time at home, especially in the winter. Using the app I change the programming daily as we go into and emerge from winter. Each year I come up with a few tweaks that I try out to refine the process, the app is simple enough that this can be done quickly. We live in the SE and thankfully our winters have been mild for the most part, we spend the winter days in relative comfort in the conservatory. I believe I understand my system well as I have fitted it and learnt about it over the years. I would hate to be plonked down in front of a strange, complex system, as you were and told to fix it before the end of the day, great work.

Wow this vid looks like what I need. Just as a rough and dirty estimate… how best to get power to a shed 1 metre from the house, then continue on to a future garden room 9 metres from the house? One cable popping up in the shed, then carrying on to the garden room? Just need sockets and lights in both, and two electric radiators in the garden room. Would 16mm2 cable do the trick?

But the system not seeing the meter. The meter displays all data such as voltage, download power, current, frequency, and so on. Maybe I require an EM115 meter !!! thanks

@@Anthony-dh3ty Hi, just a follow up question on this. For a home refurb project I have ufh setup on a single floor with 4 separate heating zones using all heatmeiser equipment - thermostats (neostat), neohub(Gen2), wiring centre (UH8-RF), actuators (on manifold). The boiler in place is Vailant ecotec plus 625. To achieve boiler modulation is only the VR71 needed in addition to the heatmeiser equipment I already have? Or do I need to replace the heatmeiser equipment with Vailant ones?

According to the wiring diagram it is a normally closed (n/c) contact so it is connected to one of the other wires by the switch, when the valve is closed, and not connected to anything when the valve is open. What is not clear from the diagram, possibly because it is a bit small to read, is whether the other wire it connects to is the orange or the grey. If you have one to hand you can test this out with a multi-meter (when it isn't connected to the mains).

Hi Guys, thanks for your positive comments and watching our videos. Apologies, but there is no part 2 for this particular job. We had 1 day to get that sorted and think we were there over 15 hours with a 2 hour drive back afterwards. Everything you see is what we had time to film. Basically you saw that system working and 1 room loop proved. All we did after that was all the programming for the customer and proved the rest of the UFH loops. Cheers Paul
