Respect for all Indians who have served in the military. Iwo Jima would not have been taken from the Japanese except for Codetalkers contribution. IRA Hayes, a Pima Indian helped raise the american flag on Mt Suribachi. American Indians have been warriors in all this country's wars. This, after land thefts, schools where impetus was to kill the indian (boarding schools), abuse, smallpox-saturated blankets and to this day, some of these reservations have NO running water. When covid started, PPE was not available in medical clinics on reservations across the U.S. WE NEED TO BE GRATEFUL, yet most americans know little or nothing about this.
