    No. They are entitled. They want decentralized work. Work that’s meaningful. BUT expect ‘someone else’ to make their latte, their food, their phones, fix their toilet, etc. they are being held ignorant of how things are produced and how shared sacrifice and humility is what is in short supply.

    im 18 and just graduated. as someone without a car, and no work experience, i cannot find a job no matter how hard i look. college debt is very scary, especially with it being the only debt not forgiven if you have to file for bankruptcy and it being a big loan, coming with interest rates. while cc's and trade schools are still a very good thing to think about, its hard to get their without a car, and you still have to pay or take out a loan to even attend. i just wish, that the economy wasn't this bad right as i am being throw into it. i definitely feel that the people who came before me, set me (and my generation) up for failure. they should had messed up our brain development, so we wouldn't be so painfully aware of how badly they screwed us over... they don't even let us go to college without trying to screw us over with large loans and high interest rates or having parental aide which a the majority of my generation don't have.

    Going straight into trades doesn't leave time to understand how the world works or how to analyze deeply situations or idea's. I'm all for the trades and have done some of it myself, but the amount of reading I did in college enriched me in such a way that also supported the logic behind preparing for my financial independence. So, while making good money in the trades can be viewed as a better alternative, we still need to know what to do with that money and how to mitigate risks. Corporate jobs do suck. I'm getting fired right now, but I had been investing since 2011, so I'm ok.

    The job market is trash right now. It's taking people several months and even up to a year to find new work depending on their role. I would not tell someone in this job market to not take the first job that comes along. You can always get another job. A bridge job that gives you income is better than no job.

    • @escthematrixnow
      @escthematrixnow Місяць тому

      I agree the job market is trash. I would never advise someone who has no emergency funds and/or a one income earner not to take the first job that comes along. If they have the means to be picky and if, to be honest, unemployment would pay more than the next shitty job (which nowadays is usually the case) I would strongly advise to think hard before jumping into a potentially toxic/unhappy work situation.

    When HR started only hiring women, that's when the whole profession went downhill. I was accused by HR of sexual harassment. I asked them when it happened, who made the complaint, etc. and they refused to tell me anything. I then called my head office and they said nothing was reported to them, so it could not have happened as all store managers must report any issues. My Head Office liason asked if I wanted them to investigate the Store Manager (a reverse investigation), but I refused and just let it be. HR is dishonest, so why fight dishonest people when I could just go my separate way and be done with it. I will never work for another woman again.

    My experience of H.R has been a little different. I've worked with many who are actively trying to improve things at a company, although they're often stymied by uninterested or even actively hostile management. Good HR know their role goes beyond stopping a Machiavellian manager landing them in court. Mind you. I am in europe. Things often seem less amitigeous in the US.

    I feel like this video has a ton of valuable knowledge but the repeated hammering in on the phrase "they are not your friend" has long since gotten stale by minute 3. And it's not necessarily a huge misstep on your behalf as a writer or creator, but rather the potency of the phrase being used word-for-word multiple times. Not only in the thumbnail of the video, title of the video, the description, but even several times already less than three and a half minutes in. Not trying to be overly critical, but I noticed your subscriber count and realized it would actually be really constructive to give you this advice rather than just click away.

    I worked in H.R. albeit on the technical side, dealing with websites and PeopleSoft and here's what I know. H.R. exists to keep the company from getting sued. That's it. End of story. They may have peripheral jobs like payroll and benefits but at its core it's all about legal defense. Peer reviews and performance evaluations are nothing more than documentation. Timekeeping for salaried employees again documentation. Tracking of sick days and vacation days, documentation. Think of HR more like a Legal Assistant/Paralegal than how they advertise themselves as being your advocat. Pro tip. If you ever get written up, start looking for another job.
