Is It the UK's Most Stunning Shopping Centre ?
This was lovely. Such a nice way to wrap up my Thanksgiving weekend. I enjoyed the chats with all the vendors it looks like a lovely market.
@@katzablot599 glad you enjoyed it
Love a good market.Went on a coach trip to York market. We couldn't get near to a stall so looked round the rest of York 😅
@@denisepeters8551 it gets really busy, so I'm not surprised
What a brilliant video! I was born in Hartlepool. Recently discovered that my great great grandad was killed in the bombardment and my great great grandmother was seriously injured, sadly dying later.
@@StuBar2 wow, just glad you enjoyed it
the pier is pronounced (huff)
Thanks for letting us know
If those walls could talk !!
I dread to think
Great video, thank you. Whitby Abbey is possibly the most majestic ruin in England, on its clifftop location. Was there in 86. The old keeper of the youth hostel at the time, was fed up with all the talk of Dracula, and gave us a lecture on the Synod of Whitby at the Abbey in 664 ad.
I bet you really enjoyed that lecture 😄
How lovely! I loved your Christmas market videos last year.
Going tomorrow to visit York Christmas market to get video ready for Sunday. York Christmas market is my favourite, feels christmassy compared to others which just seem like markets that happen to be at Christmas
@ Yay! Looking forward to it.
Whitby Abbey is incredible! I appreciate the facts you shared. So interesting!
Glad you enjoyed it
Worst Goth Weekend ever. Slowly, but surely becoming a fancy dress parade.
Everyone is allowed their view but personally I loved it
Enjoyed watching, thanks for posting 🦇👍
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for commenting
I went in 2013 when it still used to be about the music but now it seems like a fancy dress party for people who are not even into the subculture which is deeply upsetting 😢
@@robertpetre9378 there is still the music
There def is still music as we was there seeing The Gospel, Skeletal Family, IST IST, Black Doldrums, Then Comes Silence, Katatonia, Peter Hook peforming all of Unknown Pleasures and Closer albums and at the Brewery Westenra and 2 more bands. It feels like it is only the night scene the true conception of the weekend happens... plus some of the indoor markets as well
Its not close to being the biggest in the world, WGT is, in Leipzig
Maybe so, just what I reaf
Jet,not jade, but nice video.
Slip of the tongue...🤓
I’ve come back to this video because I just booked a walking holiday in Northern Ireland for next June and I think this is the airport I’ll be flying into.
If it's city airport, it's a lot easier for passengers but most go through Belfast international
@ I believe that we have to connect through Heathrow, so it goes to the City Airport instead.
Wow! This looks like so much fun.
It was, something totally different
Going for a day trip to Rippon this weekend is there anywhere you recommend we visit ?
@@scottigertiger6430 the cathedral is free, and the crypt is worth a look. You also have the workhouse museum and police museum. If you are wanting to go nearby, thornborough henge, as old as stone henge. If you look on the English heritage site, worth a drive out, but being honest, better in the summer

Hartlepool never looked so good. They've done a lot with it over the years, good video and hope you're ok after your fall.

Its 2kg of chicken for £11.99 not 1kg :)
@@kevinm-fr4wl 🤓 it was a long day
I'm not sure which prices were supposed to shock me ? and I fail to see the point of this video, as anyone who has shopped at Aldi in the last 30 years will already be aware of their prices. They now have over 1000 shops in the UK.
@@tectorama not everyone watching this is from the UK.
Used to go as a child on holiday. Must be over 50 years since I last visited 😢😢 Ps. It doesn't seem to have changed much
I don't think it has.
Wow. The prices are incredible. I need to go to my local Aldi and see if they compare.
@@katzablot599 that would be interesting, to see the difference between UK and US
forget about going to the south this year like unsafe and expensive london come to yorkshire and be safe have a great time and don't get ripped off with expensive shopping when you can get the same thing cheaper here in york and other great towns and cities
@@christopherwithers6813 I live not far from York, so definitely agree
You can not compare the two ALDI's if they are from two different countries as they nowadays cater a lot for the tastes of the countries they are in. If you really want to compare ALDI Nord with ALDI Sued then you'll have to go to Germany. Go to a ALDI on mainland Europe you won't find, as an example, things like pork pies and sausage rolls to name just two. I was recently in Germany and popped into Lidl and a heck of a lot they were selling was different to what they sell in the UK
When you compare it doesn't mean you are doing like for like, but seeing the differences, so comparing UK to Netherlands is a good comparison, to show differences
@@beantravelling The way I see it you were trying to compare ALDI Nord with ALDI Sued in two different countries. Of course there are differences simply for the fact that the Dutch have different tastes to the Brits. The very basic goods are exactly the same in both Nord and Sued, in the UK, Germany, France The Netherlands etc but there are quite a few differences between the countries. And as I previously mentioned Germany, both chains have the same products produced by the same companies but there are also big differences between the two simply because of the regional different tastes. ALDI Sued wouldn't sell some breads or sausages two name jyst two that ALDI Nord is selling and vice a versa.
Lidl and Aldi are roughly similar in the Netherlands. They are both considered to be "cheap" supermarkets. Most other supermarkets in the Netherlands are just slightly expensive. Compared to the UK supermarkets in the Netherlands are well stocked and offer a wide range of products, especially in the food sections. Almost all supermarkets offer the named brands and their own. Obviously their own line of products is normally cheaper. And no silly US overly strict rules about purchasing and identifying yourself.
As you will see on the video coming, Aldi UK has many similarities to Netherlands. I don't understand the comment about 'Compared to the UK supermarkets in the Netherlands are well stocked' what does that mean?
so much cheaper than UK
You will be able to see for yourself with the video coming Sunday
We have Aldi in the US, too. I have never heard their history before. That was interesting. I don’t know which version we have here, but I know that the center aisle at the one in my town is similar to the one you saw. Very jumbled. I don’t go there very often.
@@katzablot599 it's Aldi sud. The same as in the UK. Do you think it would be interesting to do a similar video in our local Aldi?
@@beantravelling I think so. When I travel to the UK I enjoy going to the grocery and seeing how it’s different from ours.
@@katzablot599 might just do that this week

I have got photos of the boating pool paddling pool and roller rink the good old days when I was about 8 years old
Hopefully this brought back a few memories
My advice as a Dutch person; Book a hotel/bnb outside of Amsterdam. Make Amsterdam a day, and then enjoy cities outside of Amsterdam. Amsterdam is worth it, but it is definitely not a good representation of the country. It is a tourist city. The Netherlands has a lot to offer and it's all a short train-ride away.
@@LalaDepala_00 we stayed at kaatsheuvel. Totally agree, it's a place to visit for a day or two in our case, but not a resort for holidays
I’m getting ready to meet up with a friend who just got back from Amsterdam. I’m looking forward to hearing her impressions and comparing them to yours. Also, the cheese shop looks amazing.
It does have a darker side, but unless you look for them, it's a great city, just have to be aware there are pickpockets
I think you gave a good assessment of the value of this place for anyone who is considering it. Very helpful.
@@katzablot599 thanks, next week's video is Amsterdam
Does what it says on the tin..no frills, no swathes of fancy shops, bars etc...10 minutes in a taxi from home....new terminal under construction...viva LBA!
@@MarmiteSpencer as you will have seen, totally agree
There is the old lighthouse on the high street that you can visit and there is also Spern Point where the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust has a visitor centre where people can go birdwatching. Its a place that is good for walks along the coast.
Remember getting to Spurn Point on a School trip
Pretty ghastly place nowadays unfortunately
Compared to Rhyl, it's good, in my opinion
We were there a few months ago didn't enjoy it is as done down hill alot
Everyone will experience things differently. For us it did all we needed,
York is high on my list of places I want to visit. Thanks for the walk around the town.
It's one of the most popular destinations in the UK well worth visiting
What about the lighthouse museum, it’s the big white tall building you can’t miss it or at least you did. What about the fishing heritage of our town, and the coble boat unique in our shallow waters.. Do your homework.
The museum was closed, the boats are not unique but are used all along the Yorkshire coast and the whole point of these is to show what someone visiting a resort sees,
If u turned up the Rd next to the life boat there are public toilets. Further along the sea front past the life boat museum there are 2 hotels the park hotel and the Claxton. Where u parked now has lots of toilet facilities for everyone to also the becon has public toilets in to. The area is going through some regeneration so we don't look fab at the mo. The boating lake also has a coffee shop.
The one near the lifeboat place were closed when we visited. A long walk back to the others
