I had my old small dogs first before I got my German shepherd puppy and they already got along with one another if you want a German shepherd and you have small dogs get the puppy German shepherd so they can grow up with the small dogs mine does well with my small dogs she understands they are small and sometimes my German shepherd puppy thinks she is small and tries to be a lap dog

I remember as a kid we were at the beach and my parents went one way and we the other around a place that still had water after the high tide. And our Tervueren ran the entire time checking on one group than back to the other, they really have this herding instinct to be there if something happens. Our Tervueren shepherds were sometimes nipping visitors in the butt to see their reaction. Or her dominance as a warning. Just a little pinch but it scared a handyman and so. When they show their teeth growing they are scary. The one we had when I was young kept everybody well behaved at parties when my parents where away. She just looked at somebody being too wild and showed her teeth and they were terrified of her.

3:27 I have a 3yr old Groenendael...very velcro... extremely obedient & very easy to train...very alert & in tune with me. People tell me he looks like a black wolf. He has an off switch too. 😎 His intelligence makes him a breeze to train

Ive got one, very easy to train, great with other animals and especially great with kids, extremely gentle and kind but very protective too. I have two German shepherds and a catahoula and realy see no difference except he doesn't bark as much as my shepherds. Great dogs but i find catahoulas just a bit better.

Why are they referred to as "both breeds" when they're the same breed with different coat variation? They all originate from the same black herding dogs that is thought to be the origin of schipperke as well and originally the color varieties of belgians weren't tightly defined. In fact when the breed was in the 19th century categorized as belgian shepherds, it was divided in three varieties: long, short and rough coated. Not by color and there were multiple variations known back then, nobody just considered them different to each other. Groenendael and tervueren weren't even considered separate variety. Furthermore in Finland if a groenendael gets brown or grey coated puppies, they are registered as tervueren. And if malinois gets tervueren puppies, they are registered as tervueren. That's how different the "breeds" are. You can easily find tables demonstrating all the belgian varieties that can be born in a litter. It should be pretty obvious that they are not different breeds if say groenendael parents can get tervueren puppies and so on. Anecdotal comments about individual personalities aren't very strong data on the varieties being different. I feel like this video is confusing exhibition lines versus working lines with varieties. Because the video is describing exhibition line qualities as groenendael qualities and working line qualities as tervueren qualities.
