I like the small signifiers in this scene; Michael looks over his right shoulder checking on his sinister 'guard' (I don't know what else to call him, a guard wouldn't leave Michael, I suppose he's his hired gangsters odd job man) in a sort of 'you hearing this?' way. Left shoulder look; 'There's our proof, you know what to do.' You never see them converse but he's watching Michaels business closely.

Michael was absolutely right. True brothers should always stand by one another in any argument with an outside party. The Corleone family were being extremely generous to Moe Greene. With a little more control over his vanity, Moe Greene could have gone on to enjoy a happy retirement.

Michael is plainly testing Pentangeli, after Pentangeli had become rebellious about Michael's dealings with Roth, shortly before the attempt on Michael's life. I'd say Michael isn't sure at this stage whether Pentangeli was or wasn't mixed up in the attempt. Him telling Pentangeli to pretend truce with the Rosatos "That way I'll find out who is the traitor in my family" contains a veiled threat to Pentangeli, who eventually does get tricked by Roth and the Rosatos into actually betraying Michael. Cross and double cross, with "ordinary decent criminal" Pentangeli the victim of both sides.

from 3:43, Moe Green's fate was sealed. Michael politely makes Green understand that he's out. He could have name a price, take the money and maybe hope to retire in peace (even with the skimming and the slapping situation). Instead of this, Green keeps arguing which is a big mistake : 1) You just don't say no to a Don. Johnny Fontane could tell him about it. Whatever the Don wants, he'll takes it, no matter how 2) He makes Michael understand that he has a deal with Barzini, Corleone's archenemy 3) He despises Corleone family which is not to be done (EVER) 4) When Michael offers him to settle down the beef and apologize himself for skimming and having slapped Fredo, Green stands on his positions 5) He leaves no choice to Michael but to waging war against him. even if he thinks that Corleone family is really done, you should never declare war to someone who has nothing to lose yet 6) Points 1 to 5 are good and legit reasons to get murdered, based on Mafia's "code" The scene sums up why Michael was the best heir.

This scene foreshadows Fredo's Stupid betrayal of MIchael and Michael's subsequent having him Killed. in Godfather 2.
