    Are all branch representatives at Schwab fiduciaries?

    • @HawaiiAdvisor
      @HawaiiAdvisor 9 годин тому

      No, not all Schwab branch representatives are fiduciaries. A consultant who offers “guidance” and recommends products or services is generally held to suitability standards, not fiduciary standards. If you’re looking for a fiduciary, you’ll want to look for an RIA. Schwab has their own RIA called Private Client Advisors but they can also refer you to a smaller RIA that pays to be on Schwab’s platform. Hope that helps!

    I’m on SSDI and my husband started collecting his SSI early at 62 . Do I qualify for spousal benefits? Thank you

    • @HawaiiAdvisor
      @HawaiiAdvisor 2 дні тому

      Yes, you might qualify for spousal benefits, but it depends on your SSDI amount compared to your husband’s. If his is higher, you could get up to 50% of his benefit (adjusted since he filed early). Check with SSA to confirm!

    I will be 62 at the end of June and plan on filing for SS , what month in 2025 should I begin the filing process to collect on my first available month?

    • @HawaiiAdvisor
      @HawaiiAdvisor 3 дні тому

      If you plan to start collecting Social Security benefits as soon as you turn 62, your benefits would begin the month after your birthday. Since you will turn 62 at the end of June 2025, your first month of eligibility for benefits would be July 2025. Social Security pays benefits one month in arrears, so your first payment would arrive in August 2025. To ensure your benefits start on time, it’s recommended to file your application about 3 months before your 62nd birthday. In your case, that would mean filing in March 2025. This allows Social Security enough time to process your application and avoid any delays in receiving your first payment. Thanks for watching 🤙

    • @HawaiiAdvisor

      No, you do not need to be a U.S. citizen to claim spousal benefits from Social Security, but there are specific eligibility requirements depending on your residency, work history, and citizenship status. Thanks for watching! 🤙

    I used to invest in Vanguard and it has the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. Fidelity’s customer service is the best. Schawb is great as well. I used both, and stopped using Vanguard because of the customer service.

    • @HawaiiAdvisor
      @HawaiiAdvisor 7 днів тому

      @@KA-NV Your experience is pretty common, I must say. Vanguard pays all their crewmembers on a salary structure, so many say their customer service reps are overworked and have no incentive to go the extra mile. Fidelity, on the other hand, compensates their branch reps with incentives to hustle and produce high client satisfaction. The tradeoff is that Fidelity can feel a lot more “sales-y” than Vanguard. Both are world-class but imperfect companies. Thanks for watching 🤙

    How would a pension work in these scenarios? Benefits or tax liability?

    • @HawaiiAdvisor
      @HawaiiAdvisor 7 днів тому

      Great question! A pension can impact Social Security spousal benefits if it is from a job not covered by Social Security (e.g., certain government or foreign jobs). In this case, the Government Pension Offset (GPO) rule may apply, reducing the spousal or survivor benefits by two-thirds of the pension amount. Tax liability is separate-Social Security benefits and pensions are taxed based on total income, potentially increasing taxable income if thresholds are exceeded. Thanks for watching! 🤙

  • @russellkaplan1818

    I started collecting my SS at 68. By wife does not have 40 quarters and has a MA State teacher's pension. She could not collect a spousal benefit because of GPO. I am not 77 and we are now filing for her spousal benefit due to the new SS Fairness Act. My SS benefit is now $2600 per month. At the time of my starting to collect it was only about $1400 per month because of WEP. I continued to work in the private sector after 68 and a few years ago hit my 30 good years and WEP went away. Will my wife's spousal benefit be based upon my WEP reduced initial benefit?

      meant "now"

    • @HawaiiAdvisor
      @HawaiiAdvisor 9 днів тому

      @russellkaplan1818 Hi Russell, your wife’s spousal benefit should not be calculated based on your WEP-reduced benefit, rather her spousal benefit should be calculated based on your current Primary Insurance Amount (PIA), which reflects any changes due to your continued earnings and elimination of WEP once you achieved 30 years of substantial earnings. Since your PIA now reflects the removal of the WEP reduction, her spousal benefit will be based on your updated PIA-not the reduced benefit from earlier years. If you’d like to discuss specific strategies for navigating this, let me know. Thanks for watching!

    I inherited an IRA from a parent who passed away while performing RMDs annually. I have been required to do these RMDs each year for the past 9 years (except during Covid pandemic) but was not aware of this 10-year rule. Now I am on year 10. Do I need to empty the entire account this year?

  • @gbinman
    @gbinman 22 дні тому

    The only change I heard was that some distribution must occur each year. I inherited a IRA from my stepson in 2020. At the time the rules suggest 10 tax years, so I took the first distribution of 10% in 2020. Since I have learned that perhaps I could have started in 2021 which to me is a trivial issue. I adjust the amount each year to approximate the 10 portions, though as the account increases in value the numbers are different. One thing you could have mentioned is what happens when a beneficiary IRA that is being distributed is inherited. If I should pass away, my wife would have to continue taking distributions with the original 10 year time frame, not necessarily the amounts but the 10 year period.

    Their core expenses are $7,500 per month? What is that for? For my family in the U.K. living in a medium sized detached house, Electric, Gas, Water, Mobile Phones, Landline/Internet, Car Insurance, Property Insurance and Property Taxes all come to about £1000 per month. Food is whatever you choose to pay but from say £400 per month for two people. It would be interesting to see a breakdown of the $7500 to see the differences in living expenses between the USA and U.K.

    Hi Daniel, I’ve been analyzing your channel and watching your videos, and I’m really impressed by the value you provide to your audience. Your content has so much potential to help viewers, but I noticed a few issues that are holding it back. For example, optimizing searchable keywords, titles, and descriptions can help your videos reach the right audience. Without proper optimization, even valuable content can get overlooked by the UA-cam algorithm, especially for newer creators. This means your videos are not getting the visibility they deserve. I specialize in helping creators like you overcome these challenges. By researching the best keywords (most searchable) that your audience are searching for, improving metadata, and optimizing your channel for the algorithm, I help ensure your content gets suggested to the right audience, driving growth and engagement. If you’re open to discussing strategies for growing your channel, I’d love to help and connect.

    I was thinking about credit cards not holding you accountable for fraudulent purchases too but I do do something similar. I actually use a cash app account to make my online purchases since it's fast and easy to transfer money onto it and I can just put the exact amount I need on there right before I make a purchase. So there's never any money in the account for longer than a few seconds and it's a prepaid card so there's no possibility of someone overdrawing it
