Here I show my newly created seed starting station that will save me so much time and effort. I’ve previously used a plastic tote and worked off the floor in my basement.

Foggy start to a full day of transplanting. Tomato sales are under way and I’m swamped!

Here’s a look at the transplanting process in use at the homestead.

This is how I’m doing it lately. Later when I’m open for business I setup out front and can sell and transplant at the same time.
Transplanting has been going well! Sales of plants to start soon.

It’s that time again, transplanting season. As I complete my transplanting I have to juggle where to put them. Over the next 10 days we will see temperatures dipping into the 40’s at night so my little heaters will be earning their keep. If I hold 50 degrees inside my makeshift greenhouses I’m good.
Bed building at Kelly’s Garden.

Been spending time building a garden at a friends house. Kelly wanted a garden so I started building this one for her. About 2,000 sq/ft and looking great so far. Next step will be wood chips in the walkways.
Therm-a-Trol part 2, Fujitsu mini-split A/C, third attempt to fix line set pass through leak.
Переглядів 559 місяців тому
Atfter a third attempt to seal the line set where it passes through the red brick exterior of my house, it is obvious that without a section of the line set sloping downward and away from the house that water will continue to leak into the house. The first attempt to seal this pass-through was at the date of installation at which time there was NO sealant used to close the gaps around the line ...

When water is given a path gravity WILL find it and a leak will develop. Here a simple downward lead before an upward lead would cause water to find its low point outside the house and drip outside the house. The second indoors video shows the leak after an attempt to apply more sealant around the opening outside the house. To fix this properly the existing sealant should be removed then additi...

I made it through the renovations reasonably well!

After having spent as much time indoors as I did during the Covid lockdown days it was time to renovate. There where. Red oak floors under years of carpet and tiles. The wool looked terrible but it has been restored. Lastly is the ac system that’s making an amazing difference in the quality of life indoors!

The seedlings are looking great, Bill. Great looking garlic too. The fog is a welcome relief from the heat, I'd guess.

Lots started up your way, Bill. I've tried the peat pellets but like making my own mixes better. We get large bags of perlite, vermiculite and blocks of coir, and they last us a few seasons or more of indoor mixes. Last time we got any was pre pandemic and was well under $100.

    • @ionahomestead
      @ionahomestead Рік тому

I’m not sold completely on the peat pucks but I’m trying them for a herb garden of sorts. I have some smaller 3 way flower pots that can hold small seedlings in each of 3 lobes and one in the center. Im going for a parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme concept… now all I have to do is get all 4 of them growing…seeds went into the pucks this week and I hope to get them growing big enough for end of April. They are quick to fill a tray with!

Yes, it will give me more options. I did go ahead with buying a greenhouse kit from Amazon for around $250.. Danny at Cajun Hydroponics bought a similar quality GH from Amazon too, after beefing it up a bit the cost might run $400. That’s a lot of $2 tomato plants but I should be able to offer more options to my customers. I find that they only typically stop by once, if I have what they want then I have a chance at selling it to them on that one visit, else they go to home depot to get it! I’m also thinking that flowers could get started outdoors in the GH if I can have standby heat. More to follow!

You may be able to use those hoops for the 12 foot. Just push them in a bit more would make them taller in the middle but the sides may also be higher. Once to get one there you will want a bigger one! Lol It's getting close brother good luck with the season. Take care! Gro Dat!!

I’m getting a little crazy but I’m thinking of pushing a side hustle on building raised beds for locals. Bill’s Build-a-Bed! I’m going to use this as my demo garden. Hopefully the kale will overwinter well and have some early growth in the spring.
