Bob Dylan on Woody Guthrie
#BobDylan talking on #WoodyGuthrie, American folk music icon and (one of) Bob Dylan's idols of his early years in the New York folk scene of the Sixties.
Mixed clips from Martin Scorsese's documentary film No Direction Home: Bob Dylan.
About Woody Guthrie (Source: www.woodyguthrie.org/biography.htm):
Woodrow Wilson Guthrie was born on July 14, 1912 in Okemah, Oklahoma. Over the decades, his songs have run around the world like a fast train on a well-oiled track. They've become the folk song standards of the nation, known and performed in many languages throughout the world. He wrote over 3,000 songs in his lifetime, hundreds of which that have become staples in the canon of American music. He inspired several generations both politically and musically with songs such as "This Land Is Your Land".

Lovely
He had a thing for Scorpios Suze & Sara were both Scorpio
Gemini..Scorpio..social butterfly meets professional insectivore 😂..he was astrologically well matched to Joan Baez..though I prefer the scorpio connection..
@magzb2642 just on Sun Signs Gemini is Quincunx Scorpio. No real connection
The sixties were a special time. I know Bob Dylan denies that he was not the "leader" of a generation. He was , however, the the spirit and conscience of a generation. I cannot imagine that time without Bob Dylan. Rest in peace dear Suze. I loved you then, and I love you now.
Only you could tell about Woody Guthrie. Great seeing and hearing and you do this. Prayers and Blessings and Loved and please stay Safe. Respectfully and sincerely Deborah XOXOX 🙏🙏🙏🙏🤗🤗🤗😘😘
Train Wreck. The Stones cut out the last chord of the chorus and threw Bobby off.

Thank you Bobfan - so great to have a focus on Woody Guthrie and see and listen to clips of songs and hear Bob's discussion. 🙌❤️

What a chance to live at the same time as Bob Dylan !
If you're alive right now you are living at the same time as Bob Dylan.
I'm Scottish, went to NY in 2012 on holiday. Did my homework on where the Bob/Sooz photo was taken. I was set, Jones Street. Stood there posing in Bob and Sooz's foot steps. Got back home, time to check the photos on the computer, something was wrong. After doing more research i discovered i was posing at the wrong end of Jones Street. Only 100 yards out but it aint where i should have been. Now i will have to go back and do it right.
Love makes beauty
FEEL THE LOVE BOB HAD A BIG HEART ❤ FOR MANY WOMEN ❤
When Dylan came to New York in 1961 he just played traditional folksongs, he had no songs of his own. And he was was quite unpolitical. How come, that within just a few months he became the ,,voice,, of the protest and civilrights movement? Well, he met Suze ! It was her who turned his attention to the social and political world as well as art and theater. She widened his horizont immensely. I wonder, whether if we would remember Bob Dylan today if there had not been Suze ❤
Yes.... Thanks to Suze... Bob may been known just in the inner circle of Greenwich Village. ...
Don't think twice flatpicked!
"drownded in the tide"? I guess if you're Dylan, you can a-get away with that.
her duets w him are unparalleled. brilliant.
Joan was remarkably beautiful in her day.
Joan's voice matched her beauty.
Omg yeah her voice and her beauty and articulation of Dylan iconic
Thanks for posting this! I am not a big fan of this tour. I do credit Jerry with forcing Dylan to focus on his back catalog, and I think this is a factor in his performing "Frankie Lee and Judas Priest", among other songs. I think the stadium settings caused him to emphasize effect over nuance in his interpretive approach. Still, I love Dylan so I enjoy this boot.
Love Bob Dylan forever❤
Becomes history today
She deserves a lot of credit for bringing him to the masses in her shows.
That was going to happen regardless, it was a short cut for sure....Bob worked it
Bunch of commies.
Ego.
Wonderful story by Joan, some real insight into the man.
Dylan is one of the most over rated guys out there. He stole a lot of songs and tried to have people think he wrote them, because he changed a line. Of course, people think Willie Nelson wrote Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain and Pancho and Lefty, but he didn’t. Sadly, he never stopped people from claiming he did.
I love that Joan is a great cusser.😅
Thanks Bobfan! 🙌
It has always bothered me that the affair between Dylan and Baez gets all the attention when she was never nearly as important to Bob on a personal level as Suze Rotolo. She seems like a wonderful person by all accounts and Bob never wrote songs as sentimental as Boots of Spanish Leather for Baez.
Maybe they can meet up. Now
Well, impossible, Suze’s been dead for a while now…since 2011 I think
Bob Dylan is truly meant to be a traveling poet and musician to spread PEACE, Love, friendship & Unity... Past lives, Present and future. 🙏🪷🌻 His music, songs, poetry, stories telling have PASSED the Test of Time. 🙏🪷🌻 I have been wandering if his songs are being played in the Prisons, and the inmates start listening and singing
😅😅😅😅😅
Bob was an alien, miles ahead of the game. The Beatles were still not even singing She loves you, yeah, yeah yeah yet..😅😅.😅😅😅
Learn how to die before dying...this planet earth is a place of duality and conflicts... Pleasure & pain....Love & hate... PEACE & War ... Light & darkness.... birth & death.....and Samsara. 🪷The Historic Buddha Siddhartha appeared about 2,600 years ago to reveal Birth, Disease, old age and death...and Beyond Birth and death .. Every wise man must make a sincere effort How to ''End'' the transmigration of the individual soul birth after birth. 🌻He is busy being born is NOT busy dying....Bob Dylan.... Jimmy Carter.... George Harrison
🌷🌻🌸♥️ Bob Dylan no doubt is meant to be a Traveling Poet & musician... Previous lives, Present and the future, next life... 🪷🌷 ♥️ He is busy being born is Not Busy dying.... There is a Goal, a purpose for each of us as an unit Individual Soul to evolve as better Human beings beyond the material concept of life.
They were dark days, to say the very least,I really do wonder if today's times are that much brighter for a lot of people, but there is no doubt that bob Dylan and others like him, and woody before then, shone a light, so that the malevolent forces at work had and still have, no place to hide.
❤
It’s said he felt he had to marry someone of his own faith
Did he ever say or write that himself?
Just saw a complete unknown, there is no doubt Suze was his own true love❤❤and soul mate
Bob was a family friend at this time. My brother became friends with Bob and Suze in Schenectady, when Bob came up for his first gigs north of the City. He stayed with us on and off through '63. My brother and Bob remained friends until my brother's death, last September.
Sincere condolences on the loss of your brother.. must be hard.. my only sister is still alive & I think I would totally freak out if she crosses over before me..that must have been a fun experience having a glimpse into Bob's life & your brother's lifelong friendship with him. Stay Strong! Big Hugs!
Bob and Doug mckenzie ? Liar This is bullshi$. That’s the great white north. Terrible to exaggerate sad
Boy, did they ever miscast the actress who played Suze in "A Complete Unknown!" The real Suze seems to have such a richer character... and deeper heart.
Yeah, it's an awful movie. Painfully inaccurate throughout.
Great movie and performance by timothe chalamet
@@scottchristopherwilkie1664 It will work well for people who are just learning about Dylan.... it just didn't "feel" like him -- it did a good Hollywood job of tracing the outline of part of his career. Maybe it will send them to his music... and that would be great. He deserves the attention this movie will bring. But hius music will be what counts.
Agree to disagree. The director and casting crew did a wonderful job, casting each of the actors and actresses for roles in that movie.
They really looked alike in their later years.
