Drascombe (Devon) Lugger off Wembury Bay, Plymouth Sound, Devon
These were early days with 'Tafelta', a 19' Drascombe (Devon designed) Lugger built by Honnor Marine on a breezy day in April 2014. I'd recently bought Tafelta from Flood Marine, Omagh in NI and had her shipped ‘unseen’ to Heysham Docks via the Isle of Man. The first time I saw her was on one misty March morning at the Ferry Terminal and it proved to be a good buy. She was immaculately presented and arrived with a bottle of Bush Mills Irish whiskey generously stowed aboard to settle the deal.

An exceptional day for early September 2014 and a few moments that just happened to coincide with the graceful passing of the Pilot Gig crew of 'Wasp’ taking opportunity at High Tide to do some light training from the ‘Yealm Gig Club’, presumably comprising of some of the more ‘active veteran’ members from the nearby creekside villages of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo. Wasp was built by Dave Cur...

A great video! I like it very much! Thanks for uploading! Greetings from Germany!
Beautiful!
Wow, Hello my friend.. All the best to your channel and hope you have a wonderful day !!!
looks like you were having a lovely time! do you remember what the wind strength was?
Hi Thanks for your interest. Yes it was F5 to 6, but as with anywhere in The Sound it can vary wildly. In areas shielded by the headland it can drop significantly and even change direction. I didn’t realise the mic was picking up so much wind noise.
@@evanofelipe eh, it adds to the vibe of the video I guess. :)
@@simtalkayak I posted this 8 yrs ago just after I recorded it and because of the wind noise I decided to dub it with music and got several several sarcastic comments critical of the my choice of my choice of Classiical (Wagner’s ride of the Valkyrie) hence I re loaded it au natural
I had to stop watching, please please please lose the music. It spoils it completely. Why can’t we hear the sound of the wind and waves?
You have a point, but the camera’s exposed to quite a lot of wind noise during gusts once I get beyond the headland off Wembury Point, however lets give it ago and hear what viewer think with out music in the back ground.
@@evanofelipe I didn’t see this before you removed the music, but thanks, quite often Utubers forget what they are making film for and spoil an otherwise great film with loud music. Great video with the sound of wind and waves, thanks.
Youi ought to dredge the estuary of alll the silt that tin mining caused over the centuries. The bigger the volume of water going in and out each day, the less dredging needed in the narrow channel
nice pics - and nice to see some dredging that won't result in damage to the environment :)
Glad you liked it - thank you
Were you hunting the great white whale or why the music? :D Thanks for the video, great pictures!
Lovely boat, lovely day and beautiful scenery! All spoils by completely irrelevant music, it's sailing for Gods sake. What's wrong with sound of wind and waves!!!
I’ve been sailing Drascombes for 40 or so years, of various size and rigs and found them all very sea worthy. This was one of my earlier sails a few years ago and good to watch when I was laid up hospital for several weeks. There’s nothing like being out at sea in a brisk breeze. I sail a lot around the Yealm Estuary. It’s beautiful out there.
Lovely. I could watch that for 10:01! :)
Glad you liked it
@@evanofelipe I sail a Cornish Cormorant 12 ft balanced lug. I like the look of Drascombes, but it's a way down the line before I have either the experience or the funds!
I have a KDL55W8000C, when I go for initial setup it got stuck/hanged, i tried several of times by force restarting, the best position i reached to location set up , when i entered location it came back to first screen again. I also tried by connecting google, but it sticks to "connecting google" pls advise what to do?
Here's a more efficient (presumably much more costlier) vessel doing the same job : ua-cam.com/video/IA1g2So0Kjg/v-deo.html
My car's rear view cam is showing blue screen on the lcd..plz tell a fix
WELL i HAVE TRIED THIS METHOD 3 TIMES NOW. MINE REFUSES TO FACTORY RESET,
This worked for me! I had the same issue on my C300
You can use any power source other than the lighting. Are you sure the wiper motor is always live and only comes on when the switch is activated and closes the circuit? Most cars the switch is live and power only gets to the motor when the switch is activated. What do you drive? I can look it up...
Thanks Sly, your comment is very helpful and your suggestion of using relay will most likely to solve the problem - thanks for the link.
Yes the problem is that the sensitive light wiring is not designed to power up a camera and/or monitor. You need to use the back up light wire simply to activate a relay. The power needs to come from the fuse box or battery. Use a simple relay as per "example adding driving lights" found in www.12voltplanet.co.uk/relay-guide.html On the relay, 30= battery +, 85= ground anywhere metallic, 87= power to camera and /or monitor, 86= back up light positive. When the car is put in reverse, the relay will active the camera. Simple, effective & cheap. Enjoy.
+Sly LeBlanc could I get the power to the camera from the rear wiper motor.CheersI've been told about using a noise filter might work? any ideas
Thanks Nazir, the problem then is, actually knowing which camera will works with the LCD Screen
Glad to hear it helped
Thanks for the video, I have the exact same model and had to check if my instrument was working correctly. Turns out it wasn't so I opened it up and fixed it. Bad contact with the LCD foam.
My basic, albeit rather 'unsatisfactory' fix was that I simply connected it to a live ignition contact when the engine is fired up and it worked fine without any interference. The 'downside' is that its on all the time when the ignition is turned on, but the 'upside' is it doesn't really cause any distraction when driving and gives me a rear view on the road. I actually doubt its caused by any fault on your Skoda, but rather due, as in my case to some electronic interference within the circuit management system that indicates when bulbs fail etc. Incidentally, I have Mercedes factory fitted Westfalia electric retractable tow ball and trailer Euro socket and I wondered if that was a factor. I still find it strange that the camera functions perfectly OK when not wired into the braking circuit. So the quick answer to your question is that I haven't as yet solved it.
Awesome!
Beautiful video. You really captured some wonderful moment.
After several wiring configurations of the camera, including changing the 'ground' connection I believe that my interference was most likely caused by the sophisticated electronics fitted to the Mercedes that detects when light bulbs are not lit or 'blown' or lighting circuits are not complete. Whenever I used the reverse light circuit as my power source I straight away experienced the interference pattern as shown above. It would have been nice just to have the camera activate only when reverse shift is engaged, but without fitting filters it may not be possible. In the meantime I'll have to be content with the LCD permanently on when driving.
By disconnecting the reverse lighting + positive source to the camera and connecting it directly to the + terminal on the battery (fitted with 5amp fuse as a precaution) I immediately eliminated the interference and saw that the camera worked fine at all engine speeds, but obviously remained 'on' all the time. This indicated that the problem probably lay 'only' with camera wiring set-up. So I located an ignition controlled circuit in the boot of the car (Mercedes Benz C180) this also worked fine and had the benefit of closing down the camera when ignition was turned off, but still meant that the camera remained on when the car was running.
My back-up camera was installed with a separate 4.3" LCD Monitor, powered from the ignition circuit under the dashboard and connected via AV cable to a standard Rearview camera, powered quite separately to the reversing lighting circuit that was 'earthed' to a negative (ground) fixed to a chassis point in the rear of the car. This system worked fine and the LCD automatically came on when the reverse shift was engaged, but the camera screen immediately broke up and produced visual 'interference' every time the engine was run above idle speed (As shown). I originally did not know which component was affected or susceptible to the interference.
+evanofelipe So did you find a solution to this problem? I installed a wireless reverse camera as well, and a 5" LCD screen which works fine with the ignition key turned on and the reverse gear in place, but as I turn the engine on the screen works for 1 second and the picture goes blank with interference. I suspected the voltage of the circuit is at fault? I hope I can find a solution with my 2012 Skoda Octavia. Thx
