addendum regarding Diablo II 1.00 Multiple Shots Lightning Enchanted combo begins at 2:44
thank you so much for the uploading this, so many memories brought back! In my opinion, the pinnacle of DOS games that I played! Spent soooo many hours playing this! But, gotta be honest with you, when I finally was able to finish it, the ending was so anti climatic, lol!! that image with the warrior pointing to the sky with the sword was impossible to erase from my memory! I cannot thank you enough for uploading this, nor I can express how amazed I was at your gameplay! Kudos!!
Man, I hear you regarding that ending screen :D But back in those days, one was so happy to finish a quality (and difficult) game, it almost didn't matter what the ending was xD For me personally, the single biggest disappointment of GODS is the final boss -.- Thank you so much for the comment :)
Oh lord, thank you for the upload. Great memories 🤩Question, how do you get the "jump" potion at 2:54? Whenever I try to play it your way, it wouldn't work. Any help is highly appreciated :)
Thank you so much for the kind words :) I believe the jump potion appears ONLY if you solve the puzzle at 1:32 (perhaps you also have to FIRST take the trap door key at 2:46 - at least; that's the way I do it) Hope this solves the issue :) P.S. should this fail, feel free to report back and I'll try and be of more help :)
@@Koontzily Thank you for your quick answer, I'll try this and let you know :)
One of the best games EVER on MS DOS. Amazing video.
we are in absolute agreement :D Thank you :*
Diablo 1 addendum starts at 1:48
Amazing playthrough! I have some questions: How do you guarantee that the shield at 9:30 appears? Is it because you press the lever from a higher ground or is it timing related? You bought a shield at 55:46 but then it didn't show up in your inventory, what was that about? What's the condition for the 1:03:42 key appearing?
in these old games there may be multiple requirements per event (I will not go into details). Regarding the shield at 9:30 - I cannot remember if it requires the activation of "Speed, Lives and Score Bonus" at 8:57, but am confident the shield DOES NOT APPEAR unless you double-flip the lever at 8:41 :) Regarding the 2nd question - that is not an invulnerability shield, it is a DAMAGE REDUCTION shield (read the description in the dialog box at 55:47 - you may also notice this particular shield is slightly LARGER than the invulnerability shield; that is to say: the inner surface of the icon takes up more space - hope this addendum makes sense xD). Your 3rd question is a tough one.. To tell you the truth, I'm not sure :/ All I know is: if you leave "Pestle + Mortar" at 1:01:53 than go about other business and return, the Key appears. If I had to guess, I'd say Its almost as if its some kind of an unspoken counter-speed bonus, as the countdown for the Key starts right after collecting the "Speed Bonus" at 1:01:50 :D Hope my answers are satisfactory. Should u have any further questions do not hesitate to ask :)
addendum regarding Diablo II 1.00 "Poison Enchanted" effect begins at 2:05
OMG! perfecto

What a 'great' sound quality :) ~ Amiga version player
Amiga version has a different feel, depends on what your into :D I wish the PC version was as fluent as the Amiga version, the PC version is a tad slow (to say the least) :)
@@Koontzily Yep, Amiga version was great but not the greatest possible - I'm not a big fan of the choppy scrolling, looks like ST version but there wasn't any blitter in the ST. Was it software scrolled?
@@AdiGO6578 I don't know the answer to the software scrolling question, sorry :/ Just to reiterate as well as clarify: I absolutely LOVE the PC version, I just wish it was 30/40% faster - practicing a walkthrough in this innate speed can sometimes be very unpleasant (and harder, because your actions must be much more deliberate, rather than comfortably automatized :D)
@@Koontzily Is there any technique to make it work faster in DOSBOX or something similar ?
@@Koontzily I think that You can make that for Amiga version under UAE (WinUae is the most configurable version) by modification of system clock.

addendum regarding Diablo II 1.00 Multiple Shots Lightning Enchanted combo begins at 1:28
back when i was highschool, i saved this game in a diskette and brought it to the class, my teacher was very angry that he will punch me if he ever see it again haha
At 48:30, what does this giant treasure chest do? Is it something for the boss fight like the giant gem from level 2?
it does nothing, just gives a tone of treasure :D for whatever reason, it can be picked up, yet cannot be transferred into next world.
@@Koontzily Thats quite underwhelming ^.^ I saw someone pick it up, thats why i was curious, what it does. Until now, i never managed to get it.
@@Suthriel the frustration is understandable, these old games can sometimes confuse the f*ck out of you :D the same goes for the Jewel at 40:38 - CAN IT BE PICKED UP? I have a video semi-proving IT CANNOT (I just kinda don't have the patience to do an audio commentary so its not uploaded yet)
@@Koontzily That one looks like the thief would pick it up, if that teleport key would not spawn in. I have a Gods Viewer (for showing all maps and items and events and puzzle triggers), where that second teleport key is linked to some events, so maybe this one is optional, and the gem would be the consolation prize ^.^ That viewer however does only show, how to spawn in that giant gem in Level2 and this treasure chest in Level3, not what you then have to do with them, like dropping the gem in the boss room.
@@Suthriel there is a way to make a different thief jump up there (which I managed to accomplish in the un-uploaded video mentioned in my previous reply). However, he just circles the Jewel without picking it up. The Jewel is most probably there to "ensure" that the thief picks up the Teleport Key and stay on the platform. This way you are forced to use the Attract Monsters Potion (which you can easily botch by leaving the room too soon and the potion gets removed from your inventory) :)
addendum regarding Diablo II 1.00 Multi-Frost Nova variants begins at 1:12
Freindship Freindship.. Again??
xD
This game is like love and hate at the same time when I played it so often in my childhood, it is very fun but so slow.
yeah, but only the PC version is this slow, yet it's the one I love most :D I love the speed of other versions but not the aesthetics
Nice video... until I saw necro died in the end... Why...
from a different playthrough, it just happened :D but don't be fooled, there will be deaths as well in this series, makes things more fun (but none of the deaths are deliberate, rather a set of unfortunate circumstances or some bad plays on my part)
actually, the more I viewed the episode, the more I began to realize you are right, so I cut the Necro death at the end.. Directorially it doesn't make sense, so thank you for the comment :)
@@Koontzilyno that's not what i meant... I was meaning why necro had to sacrifice himself, usually necro use minions to absorb damage.
@@CW91 I know that's not what u meant, I still removed the necro so, again: thank you :D I died there because I was seriously running out of mana and in 1.00 you CANNOT buy mana potions at vendors!! It was a very tough fight, many more monsters than I was ready for xD
@@Koontzily ahhh okay... NPC shops don't sell mana potions in v1.00? That is brutal...
это моя первая игра, которую я прошел в 1992м году на компьютере. спасибо
Для меня это не первый раз, но я запомнил его на всю жизнь. Спасибо за комментарий :)
🗿
Does this game have any sequel?
not to my knowledge :)
There wasn't a sequel, though both this and Magic Pockets were so big as games that any potential sequels thereto might've had a hard time living up to those standards. 💡
Excellently played! 👍 I had this on the Amiga 500, and Richard Joseph's remix of Nation 12's "Into the Wonderful" has to be one of the best intro themes (for an Amiga game) of all time. 🙂
tnx for the comment, I do appreciate it :)
@@Koontzily Any time. 🙂
Took me thirty years after buying this game in 1992 to win it.
man, its a relief having it off my bucket list :D
Besides the Lightning Bolt (which you didn't take for the gold chest bonus), you didn't show the Magic axe weapon (power 3), which is a tertiary fire along side your main weapon and fireball, I find it useful to kill the snake offsprings in Level 2 since the axes move along the floor. Superseded by the Hunters in Level 4
yes, used to play with the Tomahawks, decided however I didn't really need them :D
Here's another trick, use the Invulnerability shield just before you enter the First Guardian's room, walk past him and fire at will, since he doesn't turn around, his attacks won't harm you at all
Bro it's crazy using Sorceress to fight using melee, the Frost Nova upon death almost killed you... Keep up the spirit tho.
@@CW91 the invisible lightning bolt after the frost nova almost killed me :D these early releases were really a game of its own
@@Koontzily yea lightning damage is crazy too... Especially the beetles in Lut Gholein.
@@CW91 yeah, not so much (you'll see in episode #12 :D), although, depending on the mods, they can be quite tough
At 52:27, I remember if you're too slow to flip that switch on the left, the World Key will be pushed into the spikes, and you have to use the trap door key to obtain the bombs in order to destroy the said spikes (which will be removed later as well), thus sacrificing your tertiary fire (Hunters) for nothing, that's why the hint is important: Use your trap door key wisely
Have you tried playing it the second time after defeating the final guardian? Enemies are harder to kill (Journey into the city again if you dare, this time it will be harder)
yes, I have tested it and am sort of getting my head around the idea of recording a 2nd playthrough but I'm not quite up to it yet xD been working on a different project for some time now and am finally publishing episodes while trying to get my personal life in order :)
@@Koontzily I'm not sure the other platforms, but for the PC, the game won't let me finish the 2nd playthrough (you cannot defeat the final guardian even though his energy bar is empty)
@@liangseng7474 can't help you there :D P.S. buried somewhere in the comments (reply probably) was a link to someone beating the final boss on his 3rd (or 4th) playthrough, don't remember if it was a PC version though :/
Fun fact, you can keep the treasure chest that appears at 48:26, though unlike the Magical Gem in the previous level, it doesn't seem to do much other than waste your inventory space
yeah, I know about that one, and yeah: it doesn't do anything, only keeps up space in the inventory :D
😔Sorcerer does not deserve to be melee fighter. Please let her cast spells from a range.
It'll happen soon enough :D the early melee aspect does give the normal fight a slightly mid-class Kung Fu movie vibe xD
Original Diablo 2 without LOD expansion.. Nice
EXTRA original :D more to come :)
This is my first time ever hearing about this game. It's giving me dragon's lair for the NES vibes
that was sick and all but what was gordon freeman doing
not sure if this applies to "playdemo" option, but the "viewdemo" option sometimes reveals underlying models we do not see when playing the game live, be it LAN or online. Gordon is one of those models CT and TT are built around :)
I played this as a child for months and months, one summer holidays that's all I played. But I remember being so frustrated in parts of the game... watching you play made it so effortless... I want to play this again. Is this in the public domain now ?
I also played this as a child. Had to revisit it decades later :D the file I played from is ancient, but u can play it here (I pre-searched so its first on the list; its a SEGA version, but if you're up for a DOS version, I'm sure you'll find it easily, they got everything there): www.retrogames.cz/vyhledat.php?search=gods&vyhledat.x=0&vyhledat.y=0
@@Koontzily oh sweet I didn't realise it was available on Sega. I can use an try it on my emulator. Thanks heaps.
@@basdfgwe no problemoO my good sir, have a great time reliving your childhood :)
@@Koontzily I've been trying to get my retro game emulator going, came back here to get the rom and then realised that you can actually play it through the browser - my mind is blown.
@@basdfgwe at least some good has come of these modern times!!! :D
Really great play through. I have learned so much! Gotta ask, what do the weapon power potions do? Is it a permanent increase to damage? A temporary increase? Or possibly only for the level or while you have that weapon? Thanks!
This is all I found on the subject (though, to be honest, I didn't dig that deep xD): "Buying or picking up a power potion increases the damage done by ALL of your weapons. The same effect can be achieved by getting multiples of the same weapon. Considering power potions effect all the weapons, they are obviously a far more economical way of increasing weapon hit points than buying or picking up multiples of the same weapon" the link from where I copied the text: www.lemonamiga.com/games/docs.php?id=731
@@Koontzily Thank you good sir. I saw you pick up multiple during this run so was thinking I should probably do the same. Tried digging around myself and checking the manual again but there does not seem to be any info. Might do some tests to see if I can work it out.
@@alexweaver1982 I'm all for testing :D Thank you so much for the support :*
Incredibly, watching this feels even more satisfying than actually playing the game because it's played so perfectly.
And the faster speed you watch it, the better it is. 1.5x has a calming feel to it.

I've played Gods a hundred times and I've watched tons of playthroughs of it too through the years, but I've never seen anyone play as skillfully as you. I've only watched the first 20 minutes, but so far you've taken no damage (unless for time-saving purposes with a health item lying just around the corner) and you have found some bonus/secrets that I never knew existed. Hats off to you!!!
Thnx for the compliment :) Gods is one of the first PC games I ever played, it is very dear to my heart :) also: take your time, I don't expect anyone to watch the whole thing in one go (I wouldn't either :D)
@@Koontzily I almost watched it all in one go 😂 one of my first dearest of games growing up! Thank you for showing your flow and mastery, I enjoyed every little and big bit of it 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
@@Lance_MadCat thank you so very much :) I'm in the planning stages of doing a 2nd playthrough which should be interesting as monsters have more hp, but I don't want it to be the same as this video, rather a semi-speedrun. It should be out sometime round mid December, be sure to stay tuned :D

Hey, thanks man :D hope you're walkthrough goes well, post a link in the comments once u upload it :)
For those that want to replay it. I believe you still can replay it. There are tutorials on how to set up what needs to be set up so you can play it. I think they would still work on Windows 10-11. It's been a while, I don't remember the steps.
Perhaps a Win95 virtual pc would be all you need(?)
@@SirPaulMuaddib I personally played/recorded it on DOSbox (don't know if the information is of any help, just saying how I did it) :)
My apologies for highjacking that video, but how does one beat the final boss on the 2nd or 3rd playthrough? I reached him, but was unable to do anything meaningful. The top left spot didnt seem to work as the worm couldn't be killed in time. But so was the bottom left spot. The worm could be ignored, but whatever he shoots out of his mouth couldn't be killed in time either. Maybe my problem was that I basically speedrunned the 2nd playthrough? On a related note: I don't understand weapon power in this game. Like at all 😅
I can't give u a 100% answer as I haven't yet even BEGUN to practice the 2nd run :D however, I'll tell u my idea: From 42:25 onward, I would keep the axes and power them up on every possible occasion; this would mean some parts of the Underworld will take much longer than if u had the maces (spots like: 51:29, 56:36, 1:05:21 etc. ---> if u don't take the Familiar at 59:33, the spot at 1:09:37 will require multiple jumps to get the final axes as only fireballs will be able do break the stones). This, of course, might cost u some bonuses but what the heck, bonuses are not the point of subsequent playthroughs anyway xD ALSO (and this is important in regards to your question), the following is a quote by the user "BenWilkinson-ib5yx" who posted an interesting comment a few months ago: @BenWilkinson-ib5yx 'At 39:17, if you jump over the bomb then head up the ladder it will remove it and you can head back down and get it for the rest of the game. After power ups its very powerful. If you time it right you can drop it from the top ledge on the final boss to kill the snake each time it attacks' ...so, this is also an option for defeating the final boss after the 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. playthrough (P.S. I also do not understand how weapon power works in this game, but I trust it :D)
Thank you very much for the in-depth reply! Taking and keeping the axes early sounds like a pretty good idea. I hope the bombs aren't the only possibilty though as I'm likely going to butcher the timing :) I'll let you know how it goes (once I actually get around to it)
