South African here, if the World Cup is in South Africa the traveling crowd will enjoy themselves, but 100% you won't even get 10k in the stadiums. No one in SA knows that there are 2 different codes of rugby. And I can't see SA Rugby Union allowing a rugby league world cup being hosted in their stadiums. Saffas don't even know what the NRL is.

I genuinely think there’s only 2 options for the World Cup and it will be USA or PNG/NZ in terms of fan base or money. The Americans has so much potential and PNG and NZ have the fans.

In regards to Rugby Austrlia finance, they will be hoping the profits from the Lions tour and 2027 WC bails them out. Union is a very niche sport in Australia and they are banking on Suaallli bringing over NRL fans. It didn't work when they signed Sailor and Rogers or when they signed Falaou...I can't see Suaallii being the saviour they are hoping he will be.

I don't think the WC should be in SA, I can't see them getting crowds bigger than 5k. Why not the USA ? They don't know the difference between the 2 codes, people will come to watch 'Rugby' We could get crowds of 10k if marketed properly...then we could het that 1% of the market that the NRL is chasing 🎉

I like the idea for the world cup being in SA as far as a central hub location for both hemispheres to get to & they some amazing stadiums as well, but SA is 100% a Union country, so not sure what the take up would be like. I think for the best tv coverage & atmosphere etc. it needs to go to a Pacific Isles country.

Great show chaps. Loved the Pacific Championship, the Tonga fans were absolutely magical & brought an unrivalled atmosphere to that final ...we need to start something like a European Championship or similar in the northern hemisphere (and actual stick with it!) To start building IRL up over here, sadly & frustratingly I can't see it happening though.

I said on the podcast last week how the first test was a positive throwback to the late 80s early 90s. If you get a chance, have a little look at this GB v Aus game at Wembley in 1990. Brill attendance, great atmosphere, passionate players and a bit of biff - everything you need. My opinion on venues is: 1st test in London - Spurs or West Ham. Unfortunately not Wembley (the game has lost the love for Wembley). 2nd test in the Midlands - Brum, Cov or Nottingham. 3rd test in the north - Wigan or maybe Old Trafford. Wherever the games are, the RFL need to make it so that fans want to go i.e. affordable and a proper event.

The solution is to build a national rugby league stadium at Odsal in Bradford. It could also be used to host rugby union internationals in the north.

Btw keep an eye out for Jeremiah Simbiken from PNG, he's a gun 2rf and would kill it in Super League. Moreso than Tai we feel. He's been a little quiet for PNG so far in these championships.

I would have it in Wigan or St Helens for at least one of the test matches. I'm not so sure about having a test at Wembley, even if you get 50-60K the ground will look empty.

Last year the pacific championship was a fizzer, no one knew about it and it wasn't promoted. This year they have promoted and hyped it. The NZ V Kangaroos game played in sth Island sold out 2 weeks in advance, the final has sold out mid week. Tv ratings are up 40% on last year. For some context, Aus v Tonga rated higher than Wallabies v Sth Africia, Fiji v PNG rated higher than Wallabies v All Blacks. The pacific championship has big potential, not quite Origin level yet but headed in the right direction.
