Hole in the Rock 20 We get to the end of the trail
Переглядів 6721 день тому
We reach the end of the trail we can ride. I wonder what it would be like to do as they did in the early 60's and ride down all the way to the river. One day I'm going to hike all the way down just to see the wagon wheel ruts, the built up road, and the additional dugways those intrepid explorers carved out of the rock. It's an incredible feat they accomplished, and as rough as it was on a bike...

Riding in these canyons and draws is really neat.
It was really fun to do this ride!
Whoever was the guy who performed the route recon for the pioneers was probably not liked a whole lot. Enjoying the series thus far. If I missed it in the comments in previous videos, was the bypassed Cottonwood section passible or not passible? Or has it been repaired since your ride?
To my knowledge it isn't repaired, and there aren't any plans to repair it. I think they have determined that the bypass is the new access path. I really wanted to go see if we could get through it on the bikes, but we ran out of time. I want to head down there with the UTV and see what it looks like.
would love to ride this. where is it??
This is the southwest side of Factory Butte, in the Swing Arm City area.
@@3granddaddysoffroad95 ok... Utah. nice playground!
What trail is this? Good content.
This trail starts out on the 48th street motorcycle trail. The parking lot is off the Sunset peak road, and a little beyond the Upper hulls trailhead. We took 48th up to the Curlew Gull Jeep trail, then picked back up the 48th and took it up to the ridge road. There are multiple trails off the ridge road you can take down into the many gulches in that area. I was surprised at just how quickly you could be on a single track from the city.
Thanks for the video. Have you ever ridden Bowery between grand prize and Germania? There is a locked gate now so that’s the only way to make a loop. Any info would be appreciated.
We were hoping for a quiet salad
Sorry Andrew, we're kind of meat and potatoes granddads. Enjoy the Quinoa!
@@3granddaddysoffroad95 Thanks. Would y'all like to go lithium bikes?
Gotta commit
I like how dirtbike riders always openly enjoy their friends mistakes 😂
It doesn't happen often, so I was going to enjoy this as much as possible.
A friend would try to help. A True Friend Laughs so hard he can't help!! always nice to know who your True Friends are. Believe me, when the shoe's been on the foot he's received the same kind of "help"!!
Maybe he would of done better riding the log across 😂
Ya, we couldn't get on the log going this direction. It has a turn on the north end that screws the approach. Much more fun to watch Doug turn turtle.
Brrrr. When brap goes to crap.
Did you ride most of this in low range? If so, which gear did you prominently used?
yes, we rode all of it in low range. with 4 inches of travel, the suspension will not let you go very fast. But low range will climb every hill on the entire loop, but just barely. We would use all 4 gears in the low range but mainly 1st and 2nd. Makes you feel like its 1972 again.
After watching your video, it just occured to me that throughout all the years I've ridden in Moab & Hidden Canyon, I've never ridden it in the direction you did. If I make it to Moab again I'll have to try riding it in this direction. However, I'll only ride "The Pickle" downstream so to speak. Sand looks moist as well. I've only got the fluffy dry sand which is fun for me but others wallow in it.
We’ve ridden it both ways on bikes and in our side x side. It’s a really fun ride with lots of variety. With all the sand this one has it’s always easier early or late in the season. Normally I ride a 450 down here, but for this ride I was on an FC265. It was perfect for the conditions! On the pickle… I usually take the bypass.:)
That's my son all right!
Crazy ash riding!
Great Rollercoaster ride, got a little tight there in a couple of places. Thanks for taking us along.
Awesome lookin trail. Thanks for taking us along. Can't wait to get out there next year.
glad you liked it. We've run this trail for more than 20 years now and it's a lways a good ride!
Hello great material very nice motorcycle ;)
Thanks! it's been a fun one. You should head out there and try a little. It's a fun place to ride.
Looked like some fun route finding desert trail.
Did you know, there’s a fly stuck to your helmet? EEuuuah!🪰🤮
😂😂😂
Blew me away. What a ride.
Sheer terror! Thanks for the help getting down that one. 😅
It's only scary at the start, then when you get over to the edge so you don't go off the ledge, then when you have to miss the big rocks in the middle of the trail in the loose stuff. No biggie, just a little hill to drop down.
p̳r̳o̳m̳o̳s̳m̳ 😕
Really Cool seeing the old bike out and running. 👍
I’m a real fan of the old Honda ct. Love it!
Oh Yay!! Now that’s how it’s done.
That trail is so steep and scary. Even on the video. I’m sure it’s much worse in real life.
It'll make your heart race a little that's for sure. It really is awesome though!
Where are you going to recharge your electric bike? Oh ya, a currant bush. I’m not sure if any of those grow around there. Good luck.
There's always hope that the sun will save me.....
You made that trail look to easy, riding a KTM. Next time ride a tote goat down through there. Now that would show your skills. Ha! Ha! 😂
No way! i rode a tote gote in the 60's! no way I'm going back!!
Looks like fun, sounds like fun. 😆
Its a little short, but it's really a fun way to get back to the ATV trail.
I think I can hear the echo from your aluminum skid plate. It might have a loose bolt.
Its certainly possilbe after 4 days of riding up there!
I was told from one of those Florida circles track riders. That is just billy goatin around. Oh well😂
I just got back from Florida last night and I would rather "billy goat around" in the mountains than deal with salt water sand getting into every fastener!😅😂🤣🤫
@@3granddaddysoffroad95 Yes sir, nothing there but sand and cactus.
I really have been enjoying your video.
I appreciate that, Thanks!!
Wow! You have out done my ability to keep up with watching your videos.
Sorry. I'm just uploading our last trip. 3 days creates a few videos.
Wow very beautiful trail. Nice touch of color having the leaf stuck to the camera.
Glad you liked it. I set that up special you know...
@@3granddaddysoffroad95 I knew it. I just knew it. Thanks for thinking about me. I’m just an lonely old guy who rides motorcycles.
Wow what a view.😮
Hi, it`s not the Behind the Rock. You are riding the service road. Behind the Rock is start about a miles from here to North. This is a camp site rout.
Hey thanks for taking a look at the video. If you read the description it says the "Behind the Rocks area". We knew it was along the service road, as you can see us ride the road for a bit, we just thought it was fun that there was a little single track beside it for a ways. The actual start of the trail is off HWY 191 before you make the climb up the hill to where the service/camp site road starts. We prefer to access the BTR trail off the sharp left hand corner when the service road heads west. There is a nasty off camber climb at the actual start of this trail. We aren't that good of riders to do it. We're old Granddaddy's after all.
@@3granddaddysoffroad95 I saw those single tracks when we came back on the service road. How long are they? Do you have more video about it? We just finished the hard section on BTR, yeah that hill is hard.
@@endurowarrior The single track is really from the sand dune area to about halfway to the main highway. They aren't much, but more fun than the road. 6 years ago they didn't exist at all. We're hopeful that these are part of a larger effort to get a few more motorcycle single track trails in the Moab area. Hopefully the powers that be down there will continue to add sections to what's been started and allow those of us on off road bikes to enjoy that area without the fear of a jeep or SXS running over us. (LOL) We ride down there 6-8 times a year, and BTR is always a favorite.
@@3granddaddysoffroad95 awesome, I think Green River area has a single track, and we did a lot at San Rafael Swell, the color trails, and Sovereigns.
have ridden it many times always lot of fun
This was a first for us. We've been back a couple of time since and it's a blast to ride up there.
Marten cr In the Selway bitterroot?
Awesome video 🔥 if you have time, stop by my channel to 🙌

I am surprised ya'll ride side by side as much as you do. I wonder all over two track. Lookin forward to your version of Top of the World! I wish your videos were available prior to our March Moab Adventure. All I could ever find of the Dome Plateau area was Jeeps and quads. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for subscribing! We tried that to see if we could keep the pace while taking whatever the road threw into our lane. This of course was all to see if we could not take out the other lane as well. It is really fun on that kind of trail.
These caves were awesome. We didn't spend nearly as much time exploring here as we should have. Maybe next time since we know what to expect. Thanks for sharing.
We missed this trail as we had an ATV in our group and I don't think ATV's are allowed to start at the old Dewey Bridge. We accidently came down from near the end of this video but turned around when we realized we're going the wrong way. Nice to see someone else's ride perspective so thanks for sharing these videos.
I''m not sure which one it is to start with. I do know this section is up from the right fork off the dirt road in Hobble fork canyon. you can actually start this trail off the pavement parking lot about 2.7 miles up this fork. Parking is on your right and the trail is clearly marked. About half a mile away from the overused gun shooting area on this fork.
do you know which trail you started on? or give me an idea how to get there?
