Making boxes part 1: milling slabs to boards
Okay here we go….just came across your videos by chance and I subscribed because I like your style, presentation and shop….and that’s just from one video. Looking forward to watching more. Thanks for posting your work.
@ericerf6837 thank you I'm currently making a shop tour/ update video is has been 1 full yr since I started building it out hope the video entertains as well
That's a good looking door. My guy.
@JoeJoe-yp4xz man can't wait to show you guys the finish and I just started building holders for the shop doors and it's insane lol
@newworldcarpentry this about to be crazy
@@JoeJoe-yp4xz lol I'm having more fun with my shop doors than the mahogany ones
Looks awesome, this is the first I'm seeing of this project. Is that mahogany?
@TheMixmastamike1000 yes and thank you I believe the last 7 shorts and last 3 videos are covering the project
Niiiiiice!
Whats a titis a morter and a daydo?
@@iamkyaihra3654 dados are the long grooves on the board a tenon is the stub part we are making in the video
Solid work.
@@T.C.-st8uz thank you
I like
I like this.
@@JoeJoe-yp4xz gotta love a portable router table
I like your shop setup. The recliner is awesome
@josef9001 most essential tool lol
Do you use knives or a helical cutter? I hear they give a different Finnish products.
@JoeJoe-yp4xz these are straight knives I wish I had a helical head but I'm looking into a knew shop planer and putting the Dewalt back in the truck for the jobsite
Nicè video. Thanks for sharing. I have the Dewalt jobsite, but a fella can dream..
@mikecline8281 the Dewalt jobsite saw has an arbor long enough for a dado set I probably would get a 6 in dado set tho
I show this to so many people. Its unfortunately in situations where i need more straight edge than i have available but this is in fact a great way to make a crowned board straight.
Thank you more exposure definitely helps and I plan to make a jointing jig but I don't see myself keeping a 8ft long one on hand so a simple rip of plywood and hot glue works great
Bro this process.. you put out terms and processes like it's nothing. It's so good
I'm trying to take it slower in the long videos to answer more questions
@@newworldcarpentry your doing good for me.
Good work my guy as always.
Yea lol it always hurts milling stuff seeing how much becomes sawdust lol but i have a problem with keeping scraps
That's cool, man. It's wild to see how much material was removed when you cutting.
Hope your Christmas was good my guy.
Merry Christmas hope you enjoyed I was actually up all night applying finish to these doors
Man,that's a lot of saw dust. ..
I constantly forget to dump it lol
Hope your Christmas is a great one. I like the video not too long, just the right amount of info.
@JoeJoe-yp4xz thank you a solid script and better mic I think I'll be cooking and thank you boss I'm spending mine trying to finish these doors but hope you have a awesome Christmas
Very cool..
Nice job man
@ericerto8250 thank you my new favorite method for straight line ripping
Very very nice. Man I have been waiting for these vids. Lol, it works better because it's actually FLAT. LOL, I love it.
Lol it being flat really helps
your openess is refreshing. Keep it up. Oh, and it's always good to have a good buddy .
Yea lol he laughed and gave me advice
How loud are those things?
@JoeJoe-yp4xz hmmmmmm not sure actually it's maybe as lod as a shop vac
Them door them doors.. yes sirr
@@JoeJoe-yp4xz definitely a huge bonus to the shop
it makesm e want to go ditch my peg board and do freench cleats....just one question....is all the weight gonna rip the hinges or bend them?
@IxNxI I have 4 hinges currently with the plan to add a 5th and I have 3in screws in the door and 2in in the jamb vs standard 3/4in screws and french cleats are awesome I was wondering if 1/2" would work and if so what about osb and if you build your holders right it think it's plenty strong
❤
Yesss sirrrrr them doors killa!!!😊
Thank you I got a ton of holders to make
Bro this is awesome. I am excited to see the Playlist on the custom door.
Lol doors almost done but this mic is ass I need a second camera guy and editor
Keep Going!
Thankyou definitely need another mic lol I actually think recording Into my phone is clearer
What are the measurements marked on leveler and are those measurements standard sizing?
They are the old hinge located off the door jamb I turn my level into a story pole
Very nice. Keep it going my guy.
Big dawg. Do you prefer the pneumatic nailers / stapler compared to battery styles? Or dose it matter?
@JoeJoe-yp4xz I will say because I only have ryobi nailers I rather air but I have about 5 flex batteries I'm looking at their nailers for shop projects or quick on-site task because the better nailers flex Milwaukee sink nails awesome they are heavier so maybe the 18ga might be a constant carry but 15ga for casing or crown on a hole house I don't see me running the large battery guns but the 18ga and pin nailers are small enough I would put on my belt
@@newworldcarpentry I got cha.
@newworldcarpentry hey boss. I have a couple of accent wall ideas from pintrest. I'd like to see you would approach the projects. If you don't mind, doing a video on it. if you get a chance.
@JoeJoe-yp4xz you want me to give advice on the specific accent walls send them on my ig
@newworldcarpentry ill try i have to set my IG back up.
You seem so sweet❤
Lol why thank you not a comment I've gotten b4 on one of my vids
@newworldcarpentry most people don't pay attention to things like that 😅
@synciezx well I definitely appreciate I do think of myself as a nice guy lol
Nice work
Ohhh s#$t here we go!
Lol man I definitely want to edit a video showing how far the shop has come in a yr
I’m going to make a comment to help and support. 🫡
@matthewjohnson2133 always appreciated thank you
YOOOOO. my dude. Your shop plans are killa. Definitely looking forward to see you shop evolve. Keep it up.
Thank you lol I didn't know how to to work the mic I'm going to make another tour video
@newworldcarpentry things definitely sound better when you held the cam. But keep working on it boss you'll get it.
@JoeJoe-yp4xz lol I figured it now I need to decide what the next long video should be
I can tell your a finish carpenter. your approach to carpentry.
Why thank you
Amazing vid!
@@RomanCraft-h8n thank you
if i may make one unrelated suggestion (but good work on the doors) Wear proper shoes man, if you step on a nail or a hammer fals on your foot or you try to stablelize a piece of work with your foot and something goes through...it could cost you that foot. I say that talking from experience..
@IxNxI I definitely appreciate the concern I do plan to make some wooden clogs I have steel toes but I want something I can slip into and ik there isn't an excuse to not be safe
nice, but that missing spacer block at the end just makes it feel lazy and unfinished and unsimetrical
I will say I was being lazy considering I did take the time to cut them all the same length what I did tho not perfect I just aligned my spacer with the one above and the next cleat with the edge of the spacer so they are roughly in lined lol 😅
@@newworldcarpentry great work none the less! I like it!
Now that looks good, my guy. DAMN!!!
Thank you and got to get rid of a lot of my osɓ scraps and now ik 1/2" osb is strong enough for french cleats
@@newworldcarpentry the black white and wood look is very good contrast
@JoeJoe-yp4xz I was debating on staining just the styles and rails leaving the plywood behind the cleats raw but I'm not sure yet what do you think
These turned out really nice
Yea these doors are awesome and didn't break the bank
Awesome work man.
Thank you I set out to build a unique and cost affective door I think they came out awesome
Man that's a cool idea.
@@JoeJoe-yp4xz the next one really makes use of the use and cheap scraps
Damn brotha you a pro at this👏🏿👏🏿💪🏿
Thank you stay tuned I really love how these doors turn out
I'm up late working on the next door build just finished cutting all the tenons
Very nice.
My high ass thought Niggas With Carpentry...I'll see myself out.
