Scapa Flow 2023 - Battleship Week

Another great week up in Orkney, Scotland. We had the boat to ourselves so decided to do a battleship week and skip the light cruisers which are also sunk in Orkney. 4 dives on each battleship, the majority of the time being spent inside.

Dorothea Quarry Dive - 21/11/2021 - Full loop on BlackTip DPV

Great dive at Dorothea last week, lots of divers there. After a quick look at the 60m Tunnel I had a scooter over Henry's ridge which was the deepest part of the dive ~65m before scootering around the perimeter of the quarry ending back by the 6m crane base. Great to see so many people at he site even though the temperatures have dropped recently. CCR: JJ CCR DPV: DiveX BlackTip Tech Camera: Go...
Seals Dive - Scapa Flow 2021
Переглядів 1503 роки тому
Between dives in Scapa some of the divers decided to have a swim with the seals at the Barrell of Butter. I had my drone with me and there was low wind and good visibility so gave it a go.
Dorothea Quarry - Drone Flight and DPV CCR Dive - 18-07-2021
Переглядів 6443 роки тому
Perfect conditions for a drone flight around Dorothea quarry with 10 miles visibility before descending into the quarry itself for a full lap at approx 45m on the Divex Blacktip DPV. Air temp was 30oC with water temp 6oC making kitting up and de-kitting a sweaty experience! Visibility in the quarry was about 20m once you descended past 25m but very dark (as usual) throughout.
First flight with the new drone -DJI Mavic Air 2.

Dorothea Quarry - Car Stack Dive - March 2020

Nice dive over to the car stack at Dorothea Quarry in Nantlle. I forgot how far the swim was from the entry point to get to the car stack. But at least you get to keep warm on the swim back while doing deco. Water is very clear this time of year.

Fabulous area. I have stayed in Arc 2000 many times, loved it.
Fantastic! Thanks for posting. Looks cold… but great visibility
This must be after the big snow. Beautiful. Which village do you recommend to live in?
We stayed in 1600, I think if we went again we would probably go for 1800 as it was a bit more lively.
How deep it was?
Polynesian was the deepest at 65m
Could you explain to me why divers mainly guys with rebreathers use this small type of fins?
They’ve become less popular recently, the main reason was the ease of use above water, they are so much easier to walk in on a pitching and rolling boat. But a downside is that they aren’t the best to frog kick in. I had them for years but have moved back to paddle fins
@@phildunny the question has been answered! And also what a video, some banging shots on it. Cheers 👍👌
Hundred Years since this High Seas Fleet were scuttled at nearby Some island in Scotland. 52 Kaiserliche Marine Ships were laid at this place; Scapa Flow, Scotland.
Damn lot of cars 😮
???????
Looks like insurance dump site???
I was snorkeling in a quarry once and swam into a car once. The tires were in great shape so I got the jack out of the truck and took the 2 rear tires off it
WOW! they FOUND car 54
I love these diving videos but seeing that abyss of darkness all around and then coming up to anything under there scares the crap out of me. I could not dive due to a fear of panicking underwater.
Ja, so do i. And i think it is cold and quiet like death down there. I think i would panic down there
You might be surprised if you try it. When I'm snorkeling along the shore of Lake Erie, if I see anything man-made on the bottom it always is exciting, seeing such a strange thing out of place.
I felt for him with that jellyfish lol
I saw a quarry on a video one time that they couldn't get to the bottom of because of the bone chilling cold but just some of the stuff they did find before that I bet it would have been an epic dive.
Are you going to get the cars out
Scary why all those cars there?
So slow.....
Where is this?
Great vlog Phil, we must've ski'd the Trass on the same day, I too could see nothing! Check my video and see if you're in the background
Couldn’t see us but we could have only just missed each other by the looks of it and I agree that last bit on trass14 was sketchy!
I am there Right now
Nice Video!! I am also heading towards Zell am See in a few days to ski, which ski resort did you visit? Do they offer ski equipents rental services? Thank you!
Schmittenhohebahn was the lift nearest to our hotel (Daxter) but we did 2 days in Kaprun also. There is a free bus which runs every 30mins.
Why?
Here's a new acronym for social media: RBMC = Really Bad Music Choice. This video has set the standard for RBMC
The free UA-cam stuff is somewhat lacking in choice
I find this really creepy
I think I saw my car in there… If i send yo guys the keys can you retrieve it for me? Thanks
Would not surprise me at all if this was also a makeshift graveyard for humans also.
Use cars for sale lolo
Hey this is to the one who thought it was my work ,shhhhhhh....
I'm surprised no one got hit in the head with a car where they were down there
My God humans are filthy creatures 😫
My first guess is their Stolen, but that's unlikely. People don't Steal Cars so they have Something Cool to Dump in a Quarry. It think it's more likely a Junkyard that Somebody wanted to disappear sometime in the 80's.
Should drag them up half stolen other half Fraud cases....
The light blue car with white wheels and chrome hubcaps seems to be a classic car - a rwd Triumph 1500. Such a pity to see it dumped.
it`s a Vauxhall Victor FB or a Vauxhall Cresta PB kinda of difficult to tell with the camera darting about.
If you notice the white vehicle in front of that blue triumph 1500 it looks like a modern Subaru (2010-2015) it could be salvageable. All I can say is if your passionate enough about it get a couple lift bags and some sonar bring that car to the surface tow it out obtain the title get some donor cars and rebuild that blue triumph
Some explanations are needed? Where is it?? Ocean, River? What happened there?? Tsunami, Katrina, Aliens, John Wick??
Google is your friend, lazy bastard
The title says Dorothea, if that means the quarry, then it is in the Nantlle Valley located in North Wales U.K
pepole may have died in the cars
How many bodies are in the trunks of those cars?
Great vid thanks for sharing :)
What a disgrace
4:00 He only has 1 bail out tank, no deco bailout? Were you guys using team bailout? What was the max depth during the video?
It was a large group of us, I think I went to about 50m from what I can remember but others stayed shallower at about 35~40m so easy to do on a single Ali80.
Dislike. Fuck youtube.
That actually look in better Nick than cars left out in the weather
When gangsters give the one guy the job of dumping the stolen car and we don't get to see that, this where he dumped it 🤫👈
They should raise them. it would be easy to raise them actually with todays technology. They have these very large airbags that they attach onto each vehicle And then it’s just simply inflating them and they drag those cars straight up to the top of the water. That’s how they recover sunk vehicles here in America To find bodies
Then go do it, since it's so easy
I know right. I'm suspecting there is no incentive to purchase the needed equipment and haul them away. With trained divers, It is easy as you explained, not sure of the depths so the logistics can be a challenge - but doable.
They should put a skeleton in one of those cars just to keep the pulse going at a healthy level in any divers that might follow.
Just behind the wheel 🤣
The title caught my eye and made my heart skip a beat....we share the same name. Only I spell it with an E not ans O....creepy 🙃
OMG TWINSIES!!! 😐

They say quarry s are extremely dangerous for this reason. Deep cold
Where is this? That’s one very deep quarry! I gather it was mined for some metal! Thank you for sharing!
North Wales, near Talysarn.
@@phildunny any backstory on why they were dumped?
@@kevinverduci7600 mainly stolen cars we think over ~50 years. The deeper you go the older the generation the cars are. There's probably about 30~40 piled on top of each other.
What was the name on the derby car??
Here before it blows up i guess
