    What would you have changed if you could do it again? I like the idea of building a container house in Thailand, especially like your high ceiling and large space design. I'd add more glass though to let some natural light in maybe.

    • @superszymos
      @superszymos 6 років тому

      I would change -1. make it more open (glass opening on the garden). 2. I would make foundation slab - this would cost me 70 000 thb but scamy shit company took 400 000 thb for making foundation on pilars (its strong and will last forever but the cost was possible to cut). 3. Tiles (my wife chose it) i would change maybe .

    • @thattablebloke
      @thattablebloke 6 років тому

      Thanks, similar idea to myself. So technically you could build this for close to a million if you don't get ripped off? I love the large main area, it would look great in an industrial kinda loft style. Did you have any issues with water/electric and the usual stuff?

    • @superszymos
      @superszymos 6 років тому

      If i have to build one more now yes it will cost me about 1mln for this house. This is true. No problems with pipes and no problems with electic. Not before not now. Building is not sinking - masive foundation is keeping it all (masive foundation for light house). Houses of my friends crack mine not and im sure it will not. Thank You and if You need some plans send me email on weekend so i will send You what i can.

    All very nice but considering how cheap it is to build a house in Thailand, is it really worth it?

    • @superszymos
      @superszymos 7 років тому

      Now the cost of building house in 2017 is from 8000-10000thb per sqm. I payd half of this price and i dont have problem with cracking walls. Construction is working well during winds and sesonal changes. Most of houses build localy is made wrong, and will last 20-30 years maximum. The same in bangkok and condos are made for even less. I know because i work with sinking buildings in netherlands and i saw it in bangkok. If i had chance to do it one more time - yes i would do it one more time.

    What about a British citizen who would like to build one of these, but does not have Thai family? Can I just lease the land for 30 years (that's OK)? Also, does this structure require planning permission from local authorities in Thailand? I notice you have foundations, which suggests to me it would be classed as a 'permanent structure' that needs planning permission. If so, how complicated is that? Thanks.

    • @superszymos
      @superszymos 7 років тому

      With Thai family its easier - all the prices 20-30 % down :D. Yes we made all the permitions - it took 2 months and 500E but i helped alot with what i could. I am working as foundation (rectification) specialist so i advice to make foundations and good ones even for containers (with pales). Thailand aspecialy bkk area is now sinking and all the concrete houses are cracking. I have also one house (normal one) in trat and its only 15 years old and i can see sinking problems. Containers are light but gley is everywhere in thai. Its complicated problem. Now i think that the cheapest and the best is to make a foundation slab for containers. No diging, no pales, if made proper will last forever (proper means in european way) with good reinforcement and real concrete.

    does insulation protect shipping container home from outside from rust if insulation is done outside shipping container home or is it better to keep simple container look from outside without any insulation by using oil paint outside shipping container home this is due to my low budget.can u please suggest me?

    • @superszymos
      @superszymos 7 років тому

      I keep it painted i sugest. When You will buy container try to make shades (with roof so structure will be protected from sund and rain). Containers are made from the best quality steel and the can rest years on sea on hard contitions so when You will buy one old container, just grind it, clean before painting and paint. Simple like 123

    • @chuckmyntti
      @chuckmyntti 7 років тому

      shipping containers are made from core-ten steel. the rust layer stops and provides protection. The rust itself is the protective layer... don't grind it away.

    • @superszymos
      @superszymos 7 років тому

      I dont think its possible. To cut a hole in this metal cover its so hard. The best kind of steel is used to build containers so they will survive minimum 15 years on sea.

      Deponds in what conditions. In Thailand - longer than traditional berick/ concrete one. Its light so its not sinking and cracking like regular thai houses. For more info write "sinking houses thailand"

    • @superszymos
      @superszymos 7 років тому

      Im happy to that You are interested. I am now doing multiple biger projects (34mstudio.com). Its realy hard to say what the cost will be. If we talk about thailand it can be diferent in ssome states. In trat cost will be 20%-30% lower than in bkk area (cost not including land). Shipping containers for me per one 40ft is about 100 000 thb and for my wife it was 50 000thb for the same. The negociations about steel and roof materials are the similar. The price for my wife in the same shop is diferent than for ma - 10-20% different :D. People many time ask me why i make masive foundations (also for containers buildings). All the thailand and aspecialy bkk area have problem with sinking ground. Please wisit my webiste (im doing rectification project in NL). Steel structures are easylier to spread forces and if it will be placed on good foundation the efect will be long lasting. Just write sinking bangkok or sinking buildings thailand in google and make research :D. The price calculation have to be made in place by local people who know market and will check the prices first.

    A great design, thank you. It is the best container home design on the web, inexpensive and DYI capable. One question, concrete floors are expensive, would pillars and a hung floor be less expensive?

    • @superszymos
      @superszymos 7 років тому

      I t will be less expensive but snakes and reptails can hide there. I made big foundations because in thailand there is big problem with foundations. Always remember to make good foundations or maybe even foundationn plates on pilars so You will be sure building will last 50 years. The container houses are nice because there are not heavy and building is not sinking. I have friends who bought 10 years ago buildings near bangkok and cannot sell them - they are sinking and there is nothink chap what You can do. Im working with special foundations in Netheland for years and the most problem now in Thailand is Foundations. Please dont do it cheap if You want to save money. I payn 400 000 for foundations for this house but im sure it will last more than 25 years. More infor abour foundation problems on 34mstudio.com

    • @superszymos
      @superszymos 7 років тому

      The design is not supermodern but many architects forget about making house in the way that it will be usefull. As You can see sometimes on visualisations- empty houses with no furniture, big windows (suicide in thailand), covered with wood (insects eat everythink and you are spending fortune for chemy), flat roof (in thailand its disaster), no shades (another crazy idea) and forgeting that your house should be connected with nahbarhood, not like house in tghe desert :D. And in thailand You have to also take care the belives when You design bhouse. You design it for custommer. Its not like in europe or states. The entrance cannot be opposite the back door, the Budda room have to be faced north, the wind should go through "lank", the design made in the way that snakes and insects will not visit You in night. Stewpid european architects take care only about their ego and make cubic houses, super simple, yet unusefull and expensive. Hehehe. Chock dee Wisit 34mstudio.com

    • @webosm6494
      @webosm6494 7 років тому

      Well, you build a tin can for 1.5Mb. I'll say i could build that tin can for around 700.000. A real house would be more expensive no doubt. But isn't it a bit strange to build a container house then cover it up with normal building material, have a huge foundation for a very light weight construction and numerous other strange decisions. And... Why compare a tin can in the middle of nowhere with Bangkok premium real estate. Chantaburi is even for Thai people difficult to find on the map. You have been had by a now more wealthy Thai or you are blowing up the price in the hopes of finding a fool to separate from his money.

    • @superszymos
      @superszymos 7 років тому

      Im not looking for custommers, i have them enough in europe for few years, the foundation i design in the way that next minimum 50 years i will not worry, not in thai shity construction style when after 5 years you can place fingers in wall, because foundation is spleeting apart. Check about frouds and cheats in building site in thailand, and you can get it cheep, if your concrete is mixed with old derbis and shit. Materials ware expensive, i bought them in normal shops, i execkly know how much everythink cost, because im doing it profesionaly for life. And i have to cover the steel structure in some way and how i will do it if not by using normal building materials. Foundations are masive, yes because i place 1,2 m of gound on land and with foundations i know what im doing, im engeneer specialising in foundations (rectifications) of buildings in netherland. I just didnt do it anyway like most of people do. And Chanthaburi is not in the middle of nowhere, its not a bkk with polution and trafic but people are liveing there in normal way.
