I'm going on a little solo bike tour and needed some panniers. Unfortunately I couldn't find a suitable set of brackets. So here I am fabricating my own!! This is just intended to give a little inspiration to have a go yourself at "DIY Moto Pannier Racks".

THE FINAL EPISODE !! Thanks to everyone who watched my little project and commented, liked and subscribed. The aim of the videos was to show that with a bit of knowledge and confidence its not always neccassary to take our bikes to a mechanic. Hopefully I have helped a couple of you guys take on a little repair that you previously wouldn't have.

@@SteveM109r thanks for your kind comment buddy.
Dude what is the deal with all the grease totally unnecessary
I've never seen anybody use grease like that to do any kind of mechanic work
Thanks for the video. Just ordered one
@@bigcrazy9068 you’re welcome. 👍
This came us as a random UA-cam suggestion, I enjoyed it ! Glad the weather improved for the Lakes passes, Hardknott pass is a local road to me living on the Cumbrian coast, hope you had a great time 👍🏻
@@adrianstrand1120 thanks for your nice comment, I had an awesome time and continued to do so over the following 3 days. Watch out my next videos covering the rest of my 20Four Solo Tour. I’ve uploaded day 2 this week. Thanks again 🙏
I'm surprised you couldn't tap out the pump housing hole, and install a brass fitting where the hose attaches to.
@@Desertduleler_88 , that is actually what I ended up doing to the original pump after the project was completed. I just thought I would try it as i was bored one day😂.
Spencer that is bloody fantastic, looks incredibly professional especially with the powder coating, top job
@@kevinclose5339 thanks very much. I don’t like bodging or ‘making do’ if i can put in a little bit of effort to do a proper job with the resources I have. Also I’m hoping someone else will have the confidence or inspiration after watching.
Why did you grease an interference fit?
@@bikerstuff2, thanks for your question. I am a mechanical engineer and I have always found it best practice to lubricate when fitting bearings. It definitely cannot harm anything but without grease or oil there is always the chance that the steel could ‘pick up’ while the hard bearing shell is being fitted. Hope this makes sense?
Very good video, thanks
@@berndpfaffe2365 thank you 🙏
the dp killer is removable?you ll say is a quality product?
Yes, the DB killer is removable but I have not removed it as it sounds really good with it left in. The exhaust is definitely good quality 👍👍
great job would you mind selling one of them
@@6igRugger113 sorry pal, I fabricated it with the bike, fairing and clocks (old and new in my possession. I made no drawings unfortunately and I have now sold the CBR600.
Bonjour. Bravo c’est simple et efficace et surtout très discret esthétiquement. Félicitations depuis les Alpes 😊
@@thierrylaurainne880 thanks for watching and for your kind words. I would like to add that they performed perfectly for my little tour in the north of England. 👍
doing my headers as well but i need some studs plus a radiator now due to corroded alloy bracketry :) oh the joys of an older bike :)
@@600raficrow that’s exactly what happened with my CBR, one thing after another! It was the reason I ended up doing this series of videos. Cheers for watching 👍
Hi Ive just done a radiator replacement on my 99 cbr600f. I noticed you appear to be missing the rubber heat shield that sits between the radiator & the cylinder head/barrels. I absolutely love this series. It has helped me no end with various projects on my bike. It really gave me the confidence to just get stuck in. Many thanks.
@@SimonTarr-l2x , yesI was aware of the missing rubber sheild, it doesn’t seem to affect the running temperature at all so I didn’t bother to get one. Thanks for your kind comment, that was the main objective of the series, to give others the confidence to have a go☺️.
Nice job.Which brand is your front disc brakes?
@@orenmesh100 sorry I am not sure as they were on the bike when I got it.
@@spencer2237 Thanks.

Bearing size?
@@kenchanatv2490 I f you search on ‘Wemoto’ web site they have the bearings and seals as a kit. But to answer your question they are ‘6204 2RS DDU’ (20 x 47 x 14) . Don’t be tempted to buy cheap bearings though!!
Thank you for this content!
You’re welcome, I hope it was of some help.
It is! I need to change it in the winter too. Cheers!
Did you find the paint effects performance? And what paint did you use and apply it with? (Brush it spray can) Cheers 👍🏻
As far as I can tell, the paint did not affect the performance. I think I used Hammerite smooth satin black paint in an aerosol.

Se aprivi le pinze la pulizia era più semplice, ho una cbr identica alla tua, solo che è il modello a iniezione
I didn’t want to disturb the seals between the two halves of the calipers. I have done it that way on other projects in the past. Mine has the fairing from the later F4i (injection model)

Hi. I have a Cbr fx and have a rattling noise coming from the manifold area. What do i have to remove to give me access to the header manifold bolts in case the rattle is caused by a loose bolt. Thanks
If I remember correctly….. remove the fairing sides and I think you can get to them with some level of difficulty. Failing that, I believe the radiator is the next thing to move. Possibly release the radiator fixing bolts and it may give you a bit more room. The worst case scenario is that you will need to drain the radiator and disconnect the hoses to remove it completely, then access is as good as it gets.
@@spencer2237 thanks Spencer
Hi Spencer. Thanks for the heads up about the manifold bolts. Managed to tighten them with just taking of the fairings and didn't need to touch the rad
@@nevergiveupever1069 Hi, i have problem with little noise from exhaust leak. Did you manage to tighten screws ? What about the seals ?
@@marcinsmolinski903 yes i managed to tighten up the nuts just by taking of the fairings . Its a bit tight and i needed a wobble joint. The gaskets must have been on cos i didn't hear and exhaust gases coming out but to be honest i didn't really check

nice fishing mate, how clear is the water you reckong, would be cool to see underwater footage with a gopro in the gravel pit, usually of bunch of fish stacked up in there.
The water is pretty clear to be honest, I might just try having a go at something underwater, great idea , thanks 👍
@@spencer2237 yeah thats neat :D
great stuff keep going - we love it
Thank you Richard. Hopefully in the coming weeks I will get chance to do some more work with the bike now that it’s spring time.
Nice
Hi there, very nice job, just want to know which site you ordered the new radiator from?
Hi, thanks. I ordered the radiator from eBay. It was a used one but in pretty good condition which is quite rare I think.
Great job Mate. I'v watched all the series. I'v got same bike, same year, whitch I bought month ego. Had to do a couple of things, like corb cleaning, suspension, valve clearance etc. It's nice to see how others do the work. Thank you and keep going with the videos. By the way. It was pretty big pike. You shouldn't let him go...😊. Greatings from Poland. Pawel.
Thanks for watching the series. I really appreciate your time. I haven’t had the bike running yet as I’m waiting for the British weather to improve!! Here in the UK we are catch and release with our fisheries so that it remains sustainable and enjoyable as a sport for others to enjoy. Hopefully I will have more footage of something motorcycling or fishing to share soon🤷🏻♂️.
It was quite dry and warm a couple of days ago, so I had an opporunity to ride my one. Only a couple of kilometers, but it seems to be everything allright. Enjoy your hobbys. Take care. Pawel.
🎣🎣
What did you use to create your own lower bracket? Nice work too man thanks for making this video!
Thanks pal. I used some aluminium flat bar 15mm x 3mm thick . Then just bent it into shape and once drilled and tapped with the correct thread I gave it a good spray coating of Hammerite paint. I’ll be honest, I did have to make the bracket a couple of times to get it right, but it’s nice and sturdy.
@@spencer2237 I cut some metal from an old wheel barrow, drilled some holes and bent it in a vice so it fits perfect. Haha
too much
Wonderful job!Maybe you drill some big bore holes in the panel to drop some weight😊
Thanks 🙏. That was my thought too, but it wasn’t really much different in weight to the original one.
Nice to see a Superdream out on the road and my Speedo does the same thing a bit of wd40 seems to fix it 👍
Great job mate. Grits from Poland.
Thanks mate, I appreciate your support 👍
Great job!
Thanks , just waiting for some decent weather to try how it runs🤞.
When I twitch my baits I tend to jerk the rod up a small amount whilst holding the spool and the baitrunner engaged... this reduces the chance of dragging the bait and/or lead through weed... also if a pike grabs it immediately whilst I'm resetting the rod, the freespooling reel allows for the fish to take line... 🤔 A sub and a like, mate ! ☺️ Tight lines and a Happy New Year! 😎👍☘️🍺
That’s a really good point actually. I shall take that on board for next time I’m out. Although I do have some new footage awaiting editing and I twitched my baits the same again!! Next time bud👍👍. Thanks for the sub and like😉👍
@@spencer2237 If the deads are popped up, you could continue to do it (twitch) your way but as I say the lead might get fouled... 🤔 BTW... I fish all my baits popped up, I feel like I get a more positive take ... as opposed to the pike faffing around, trying to get the deadbait out of a potential weedbed and the alarm beepin away pressuring you to strike before it has a good hold of it !!..🙄 I highly recommend the book "Pike Fever" by Jens Bursell... its my "bible" for everything piking... 😎👍☘️🍺
@@peterfitzpatrick7032 I agree, I have been using popped up dead baits since this video. I actually had some missing tackle which stopped me from popping up on this occasion. Thanks for your reply and I’ll have a look into the book you recommended. Cheers. 👍
Nice job! Have you got the f4i airbox installed on the f4 carb model also? is this airbox plug&play? Thank you!!
Thanks. That’s a good question, I’m not 100% sure what airbox is on there. It’s all just how I bought the bike. I am basically tidying up previous owners attempts but trying to keep the budget down.
Getting your tackle out on UA-cam should be illegal😤. Great video😂 professional editing job!
HA, nice one . Thanks
Nice job eh, well spoken and not rushed. As you left the bleeder tube on , did all the air find its way out from the calipers ?
Yes, it works a treat! And much quicker than I thought it would.
es bonito el escape y suena muy bien te felicito desde españa
Another great video. Did you just mask the tyres when you painted the wheels or remove them?
Ignore that - you answered the question about 30 seconds after I asked it!
@@DaveHairs , no problem. They came up pretty good actually. Not the best solution, but cheap for the time being.
do you use clear coat on the painted parts
I haven’t been doing on this project so far. Mainly because I’m doing it on a small budget and trying to keep my costs down. Im using paint that I have on the shelf already and they are not all the same types of paint. I did try clear coating the sidestand , but the clear coat caused issues with the paint underneath. Im using acrylic paint on the forks and the wheels, so should be tough enough hopefully.
I had ‘11 ninja 250R that the steering stem feels somewhat a bit loose and clunky when braking with front brake. Do it needs new bearing or just need to tighten it? And i heard that tappered bearing is better than old fashion style. Is that true? Thanks
It sounds to me like it could just need to be tightened up a little, but replacing them with tapered bearings would definitely be my choice of action. Tapered bearings are a good upgrade and much better than the original bearings. Hope this helps you 👍.
@@spencer2237 i give it try soon. Thanks 🍻
Always wondered how to do this on my bike and now I know thank you!
Glad to be of assistance, that’s why I decided to capture my progress and post it. Hopefully it can help others out there too.
nice work i have the same bike here in denmark .
You can send out the rear shock for Service and they will fit a. Schrader valve during the rebuild it make a big difference.
Thanks for your information. Im just trying to get the bike roadworthy and safe at the moment. If I like riding it and am going to keep it for a long time I will definitely be improving and upgrading a few things.
1.Nice job!! 2.I have the same bike like yours (the one on the backround) 😀 3.maybe yoy should use straps to tie the bike
1. Thanks mate. 2. What, the V-Strom? 3. It’s pretty stable on the centre stand on my ramp. But i do strap it down if I’m doing anything that needs a bit more force etc.
2 yes😂😂
Good work mate! Header looks bit different now!
Thanks mate! Im making decent progress now and the bike is starting to look a little better for it.
Another great video. Thank you. Where are you sourcing your rebuild parts (e.g. gaskets)?
Thank you for your kind comment. Im getting parts from a mixture of David Silvers, Wemoto and good old Ebay depending on availability and cost. Im trying to do this project on a small budget. More content is on its way by the way!
Really enjoying your videos. Just embarking on a similar project on a 600FS.
Thanks, I’m glad they are ‘watch worthy’ . I’ll be doing lots more videos as the bike needs so much more doing to it. I’ve already got a couple more almost ready to post. Good luck with your project, and enjoy the journey!
