#281 Tall Poppy syndrome in NZ
Tall Poppy syndrome is a term that I have heard around and about but not really paid much attention to, till I spoke to the press and it was mentioned a heck of a lot more.
But, what is it exactly and how does it alter social expectations in New Zealand?

Melanie & Peter’s Honeymoon 2024

We probably wouldn’t have even gone on holiday had my dad and his partner not been here. Originally I thought few people would be able to say they took their Dad on their honeymoon, but so far, everyone I have said this too has told me they did too! So maybe a bit more common than I first realised!

Thanks! I'll practice now. I had both knees replaced at the same time 11 years ago. I fell recently, then scooted on the floor to the couch and wriggled my back up onto the couch as I used my lower body, almost like a bridge to try to push. Then found myself struggling my clothes not going smoothly over the couch cushions. It was a nightmare. I'm trying this in the future.

Torn meniscus 6 years ago , bs doctors want to cut out the torn cartilage . Also got a CGM monitor a couple months ago . CGM monitor is the second useful thing i have gotten from a doctor . First was an MRI .

The infrastructure of our country is nearly destroyed. I hate to say it, but i'd go private at least for the assessment/diagnosis My father was ignored for a few year after seeing cancer like symptoms He's fine now thank god

I’m so glad your father is ok. Now. But yes you’re right. The shocking thing is, there is no option to go private - the only place that does the scan is in the public health system. Now how screwed is that.

I had a knee op last July -first two weeks were sleepless and hellacious …but it DOES get better. As I am sure you know , you’ve just got to DO the @#$& exercises. I had additional physio and the therapist kicked me out the end of October , laughing that I was wasting her time, I was so good. That knee has not given me a second’s problem since. Yes, it was worth it. And I worked out how to get up, just like you do, a year or so ago….

Thank you so much. This video will gladly be living rent free in my head. My kneecap was dislocated three times, and I don't even bend my knee to pick something off the floor. If I ever need to get up, without pressuring my knee's, this is the answer. Thank you for showing it!
