Solo Ride Across South America on a Bonneville T120
In this episode I take on Northwest Argentina solo, riding my Triumph Bonneville T120 through some of the region’s most iconic and breathtaking landscapes. From the colorful valleys of Cafayate and the dramatic Quebrada de las Conchas to the stunning salt flats of Salinas Grandes, this journey tested both my bike and my resolve.
Map of the journey: www.google.com/maps/d/u/1/edit?mid=1AjpVLWT4K2bgF9SaXl2Ga7qME3b0pWs&usp=sharing
As a solo rider, I dive into the freedom and unpredictability of traveling alone, capturing moments of pure beauty and real challenges. My journey continues through Salta, meeting fellow travelers, and ends with an intense sandstorm at Paso de Jama-the gateway to the vast Atacama Desert. If you’re passionate about adventure, motorcycles, or discovering the raw landscapes of South America, this series is for you! Don’t miss Episode 02, where I face the infamous Atacama Desert solo.

Awesome video my man. The views were great, the music set the view and your narration good. All on a Triumph, makes it that much more special.
Thank you! I glad that you like it ;)
Great Videos and captures ! Sending Love From Turkey ! What was the digital circle thing on your bike that show the way I guess.
Thank you man! it is a beeline moto. more like a compass than a GPS.
Epic video and great adventure! What kind of gloves are those, they look stunning and comfortable?
Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and the adventure. The gloves are from AliExpress, and I’m planning to make a detailed video about my gear soon since a lot of people have been asking. They’re both stylish and super comfortable-perfect for long rides. Highly recommend them! Safe travels!
@ Thanks and I look forward to seeing more of your adventures . Rubber side down 🏍️
Hermosa moto, hermosas fotos.
Great stuff man :) keep it up
Thanks! working on that!
love your photos and adventure man ! Keep on going and drive safe , from Vietnam
Glad you like them!

A Bonneville, a Fujifilm camera and some spectacular sceneries, an outstanding combination !
Just another classy, old-fashioned guy enjoying the marvels of engineering and technology. Add a badass tattooed chick and a glass of whiskey, and we can rest in peace
Gran video George. the music was also super.saludes desde Japón, siempre por aca bienvenido hermano.
Hey, thank you!
Hi George ,, What made you choose the T1200 instead of say maybe the 900 scrambler or T100 ? In my opinion the 1200 is a heavy old lump and not that much more powerfull,,,, I wont touch a Triumph but my mate has one....
Well, it has 80hp ( +15 hp almost like having an extra Royal Enfield between your legs), 6 gears, double Brembo disc brakes, and cruise control. I like to travel, so it makes sense for me. Yes, it’s bulkier, and you have to man-handle it a bit more, but I’m a big guy, so it’s fine. if I was in the market for a bike today, I probably would chose the scrambler 1200x for the tubless tires and better suspension but I love my bike, its customized for me, and in the end, its a very personal choice more than a spec sheet choice.
@@georgebalmung HEhe I ride a RE Himalayan (about 30hp) and I travelled ,,this year to southern spain ,then on to Romania and around Moldova,, but I,m jealous of you in South America...YES 1200X is the Triumph to have (if you must have one !!) My Him is tuned for me ,,after I bought it I spent money upgrading to MY spec.. now after 6yrs ownership it is running like a dream (but the value has dropped to negative ) so I will keep for another 4yrs ,then buy a CF moto 450mt ... I hope to meet you one day on the road ,,and I will let you buy me a drink ,,, cheers
@@lipsee100 I wish I could live for a while in a place like Cafayate or Salta. an Himalayan would be a perfect bike for those places because its almost all narrow roads, a lot of trails and gravel and beautiful landscapes everywhere. I live in São Paulo, around me is just boring 6 lane roads, so is a long way to get into those interesting places.
@@georgebalmung HAHA San Paulo "Boring" I tell you man,, you do not know the meaning of Boring,, I live in Woodhall Spa ,,its full of old pensioners (like me) ,,,now that is boring... Actually I am thinking of going to Argentina in the next few months..I cannot afford to take my bike .. I maybe buy one there...Anything to get away from the english cold wet weather...just regarding Salta ,, I watched Itchy Boots ride that region and that is the area I want to explore...
Pure perfection! Thank you for sharing your adventures :)
Thank you! I am glad that you like it.
What year is your T120 and what side covers are those with the vent screens? Beautiful ride.
thank you! it is a 2023 model. the side covers are part of my customization. yes, they have vents!
@@georgebalmung I'm looking for vented covers for my 23'. Who makes them or what brand are they, if you don't mind saying?
@@azlong4596 AliExpress! It's not that expensive and fits really well. I like them because they're not glossy, and my main motivation was to avoid scratches from my boots on the original ones. but I like this one, it works fine and looks good.
Awesome trip. I have the same bike, you have nice setup. What saddle bag are you using?
some cheap ali express bag, the thing is, I mounted it in a very specific way so it holded beautifully during the entire trip. I will put a video together going through details of my rig. would you like to see it?
@@georgebalmung Setup looks awesome. I would definitely check it out when you upload video. Thanks for the reply.
Excelente!
Very well done. Thanks for sharing that.
Many thanks!
Ansioso pelos próximos!
já estou trabalhando nisso! 😅
Wow! What stunning landscapes and such a cool bike!
Thank you! I am glad that you enjoy it.
Bravo .Amazing trip.
Thank you Dave! I'm glad that you like it.
❤
Very nice video. One of the best that I have seen lately. Thanks I like the Bonneville T120 a lot, but I wonder what you do if you get a flat with tubes in a remote place. Did you carry spare tube and tools to fix it?
Thank you, Otto! There are a few ways to fix it-the main one is to ride with spare tubes. In addition to that, I carried some repair sprays and tools to remove the wheel if necessary. Tubeless tires are much more convenient, but spoke wheels are stronger and cheaper to repair if you encounter a bigger issue, like a bend or something similar.
Amazing, George!
Amazing, I like the photos)
The next episode will be on the place that you want to record your videoclip.

Enjoy!
Muito bom, edição incrível!!

Congrats, my friend! Amazing footage, awesome narrative and professional editing!
thanks maya!
Incrível a qualidade das imagens. Ficaria horas assistindo. Difícil vermos conteúdos relacionados a moto nesse nível.
striking images from the coast!
Nota 10 para este video, George. Edição, texto, sua narração são bem cativantes. Amei as fotos com o drone! Em suma, orgulhosa!
muito obrigado! =D

Bikes are an extension of the soul, a symbiosis between the present moment, the sound of the engine and the shadow that is projected on the road, bike and biker a single silhouette.
Beautiful places, wonderful machines
sem dúvidas!
