Chez could get through life on his good looks alone--but fortunately for you, he's so much more than just a hunk!!
This 2012 gelding is a lover with excellent ground manners who has clocked 100s of miles out on the trail. I started training him when he was 3mos old, and in no time, he was a pro at hobbling, tying, being laid down, trailering, being ponied, having his feet worked on, and the list goes on! I trained him following the Downunder Horseman techniques coupled with my experience of riding horses on the ranch, barrel racing and Equestrian Team. Last year, he was our pack horse into the Red Buttes Wilderness, britching and crouper non-issues.
He has been on most of our annual camping trips we've done the last 6yrs. He is excellent on the high-line!
I own Chez's dam, and my family owns his sire. His dam is a killer trail horse, competed in endurance competitions, super smooth and tough as nails. His sire has been one of my family's most tried and true trail horses--even when he was a stallion, he would be the lead horse on pack string. Chez gets his looks, sensitive feelings and feet from his sire.
Which brings me to the next point: he has poor quality feet, & I can't afford the upkeep on them. He requires hoof protection 24/7, as they will chip apart without. I will require buyer to sign an agreement stating that you will provide hoof protection at all times (shoes, boots, etc). If you are not financially and/or situationally able to provide this, please do not send inquiry. Chez would benefit greatly from regular supplements that encourage healthy hoof growth-I am not in a situation that I can provide this for him, nor can I provide a dry area for him during the winter. This is the ONLY reason I am offering him for sale. I have not had lameness issues with him outside of when he has thrown shoes.
Chez LOVES attention and the kids love leading him around, brushing him and giving him treats. Chez is not quite “a kid’s horse” yet, but would be suitable for an experienced & confident kid, one who knows how to deal with a horse that can be light on his hind end when feeling fresh. The more he’s worked, the better he does, and he remembers his lessons very well.
Chez is very athletic; relaxed out on the trail. He does great as the last horse on the trail where he doesn’t have someone tailgating him. It doesn’t bother him if the other horses get ahead of him. Crossing water, logs, going through brush, over hoses and such comes as second nature to him. Trailers like a pro in a variety of trailers.
Chez is a conformationally correct, absolutely stunning gelding that will WOW anywhere you go! He has a ton of potential!
