why u waste 15min
@@karetkarz213 don't like don't watch
@just4fans303 u are typical us movie maker. Dont show whad is needed in 30 sec just telling around in 30 min
Where do you put the oil in these bikes?
Thank you - only needed to do mine when taking the front wheel out and pad fell out - tsk! My previous bike was a honda that used an allen key for the pin removal so I your video told me I needed a punch to get it out. Big thanks!
You should always open the caps to the fluid revivors, or you can damage the pistons or master cylinders.
Keep some pliers, touch both sides
Thank you so much for this video. I always appreciate DIY tips for this bike.
The fourth wire is to quiet down the muffler. Someone to it out, that's why it's loud; I think.
Thank u so much brother. I appreciate it.
How did you get it off in the first place
@leighwalker19 I believe I had the gas tank off and used a long wobbler extension with a wobbler socket, but it still was really hard to get bolt removed. So when I fixed the leak behind the cover, I decided to modify the cover to make it easier to remove/install.
Chk u may have another fuse. 1 from your main battery live then follow the wire to the solenoid. Chk your ignition switch wiring its a loop system si any break will disengage power to bike. My ximenoid hsd ignition wire going to ignition cinnectio s burnt kept popping fuse
@@HaroonKhan-lu4xu thanks for sharing information 👍
My 2003 Honda rebel was struggling. Sputtering, sounds like it was going to break down at any second. The battery kept dying until all I got was the clicking sound. Hopefully replacing this should do the trick
@KXLXI yes, I hope it will fix your bike. If not let me know. 👍
@@just4fans303 it was oil on my spark plug. But, on the plus side the bike starts up first try with the new solenoid. It would take a few tries to get it started. My rebel is old, a 2003 😅
@KXLXI great, glad you were able to get it going. Sometimes if you overfill the engine during oil change it will push oil up into sparkplug fouling it. Or it could be a worn piston ring in that cylinder.
I cut my old ones off lol
@@Landos_authentic 🤣🤣🤣 👍
Use a bend O washer over that crack 🙏
The white wire coming out of the seliond does light up when I put the test light on it so does that mean the seliond is good because there's power coming out of the seliond through that white wire ?
When I put a test light on the seliond relay with the 30 Amp fuse is the light susspose to light up on both bolts or just the one on the positive side ??
@@Mackjr-k9o both.
Hey brother I am having such a hard time figuring mine out think you could help me I crossed my cables jumping the bike so had power before no issues with the bike no nonpower so bought a new seliond relay replaced and nothing maybe junk but I test with a test light and both the old one and the new one test the same so I think my old one is good so put back when the cables crossed and sparked it did blow the 30 Amp fuse and I put new one in but anyways there is no power to the bike ??
@Mackjr-k9o sorry been on vacation. I would try putting in a new btry and see what happens if it doesn't help then return to autp store and get your money back. Let me know what happens.
Can it get stuck in a on posinction with engine running and cant switch it off until your baterie dies.
@EmidioJorge-yi1lq not 100% sure but it's possible. You can get them cheap on Ebay worth replacing for $20 to see if that was your problem
I agree I ride my bike daily and would not do a fender delete.
Yep, just more practical.
Put a wood block under the tire when up on a stand and pulling out the axle to remove the wheel..makes a three handed job a one handed job Also recommend cleaning and lubing chain before removing wheel..much easier to clean off muck and excess lube on rim and sprocket once off bike so you can re install new mount freshly cleaned
Good tips! Thanks for your thoughts. 👍
What size socket do I need for that axle nut?
32mm
you still ride the bike?
No, I sold it.
I'm replacing the one in my 1985 Honda V65 Magna today
I got sick of the OEM front turn signals popping loose and replaced them with some aftermarket ones from TST Industries
www.tstindustries.com ? And what was the item specific name?
Thanks for this, man! Helped me out!
You are welcome, glad somebody is benefiting from them. 👍
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t that mean the bike is running rich and not lean? More fuel and less air.
I'm far from being an expert mechanic I could be wrong. But previous owner retrofitted the air filters under the gas tank which was starving the bike from getting proper air flow. If a motorcycle is running lean on air it will cause it to run hotter and I think that was causing it to run poorly.
Clogged air filter will cause your bike to run rich. Less air means more fuel.
@@chrisshandymanservicellc5357 ok, thanks for your comment
Hey heads up, use a solenoid from a 66 to 80s ford bronco, they’re cheap and better than the Chinese ones
Ok, thanks for the info. 👍
Hello, did u say how much these were?
Yes, they are around $20 on Amazon.
You have a video of changing the gasket.
No, unfortunately, I do not.
Sorry, had to re-upload video due to my poor editing skills.
Awesome video! I was going to adjust and clean my chain for the first time tomorrow this was super helpful. I just got my xsr900 last week and I'm loving it. Keep the videos coming 😊
Awesome! Congratulations on your bike, you will not be disappointed. Make sure and keep rpms under 9000 for first 1000 miles for safe engine break-in. I know it will be hard not to but I highly recommend doing that. Glad the video was helpful by the way Yamaha recommends checking chain tension before every ride.
@@just4fans303 Thank you, I am definitely not disappointed it is such a good bike to ride. It has been hard to keep the RPM down but at the same time it has plenty of Torque you don't need anything over 5300RPM and still you are going pretty fast xD. I cannot wait till im out of the break in period though. I did my chain today cleaned it re-lubed and tightened the tension... it got a bit late so I'll check in the morning to see if its at the proper spec. but I believe I am at about 50mm of slack. and it says to go between 45mm and 50mm in the manual so pretty sure its all g. One thing I did do was check the tyre pressure and it was at 25PSI in front and 35 in the back (Supposed to be 36FRONT & 42BACK) ive only had it a week.. so not sure if that is normal for new tyres or bike tyres to go down that much in only 500kms (300 Miles). What is your experience with Tyre Pressures? (sorry for any "silly" questions I have not owned/ridden a bike in like 6 years)
@scottlaverty6273 be careful I picked up something in my rear tire and was losing 10psi overnight it's a real small puncture but enough to cause it to lose proper pressure. I am not going to ride until I get it replaced too much torque and speed to take any chances having a blow out or damaging my rim. I found an acceptable tire on Amazon for around $100 going to remove the rim and tire and take it to a local cycle gear to get it put on. I'll do a video on it. Get a squirt bottle and fill with soapy water use liquid dawn it works well. Air up tires to proper level and spray all over the tires and look for bubbles 🫧 if you see bubbles you have a puncture and need to replace tire. I don't recommend getting it patched you only have two wheels and one life.
I just picked up my 2023 XSR900 yesterday here in Australia! I love this thing bro such a good bike. Thank you for this helpful video would love to see more helpful videos like this for general maintenance and info for the xsr900.
Congratulations!!! You will not regret it! Try and stay below 9000 rpm until you hit 1000 miles for a safe break-in. I am planning on doing some more videos soon. I have 3000 miles on my XSR now, and I'm already developing a flat spot down the middle of my tire, so I ordered a rear tire and will be replacing it soon.
Wow!!!…glad I found your video my friend, because this is my next project on my street 500. Your video is very helpful in showing and explaining how to replace the brakes on both front and rear of the street 500. Harley Davidson charges over $300.00 to do this brake job and your video makes it look sooo easy and will save me the money spent on going to H D👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💯👍🏻
Your welcome Tony. That is why I started doing these videos to help others with saving money on DIY repairs. I'm focusing now mainly on my new Yamaha XSR 900 but I'm glad I could help. I did a really thorough video on how to replace the btry in street 500 which is a real pain in the ass but I show you step by step how to do it and the btrys sold from O'Reilly auto parts work great. Much cheaper then paying Harley to install and much cheaper btry.
How many miles do you have on the bike?
Around 2400 miles
Thanks for the clorox wipes tip.
Your welcome
Damn good job.
Thanks for the kind words
if you started the bike from cold and it reads 175deg that's just the water temp, sensor on outlet from the head (hottest part of cooling system). Need 10-15 mins or riding to bring oil temp up if you want it thin. Also, balance the bike upright with 1 hand on pillion seat then position your paddock stand so not struggling agains bikes weight.
Still warm enough for an oil change
I'm a fan of motul, I use the 300v because it's green and smells nice 😆
I also use (maxi lube) anti-friction metal treatment. I add about 3 Oz. Once I top off with fresh oil.
I got oil leaking out of the dust cover. The round cover right to the right of that. Any ideas how to fix that
Not 100% sure but I know these bikes will get oil coming out of air intake areas under gas tank if you overfill them with oil. Make sure you put exact amount of oil and don't just rely on the sight glass to fill it to correct level.
Correction: the correct ft. Lbs. Torque for engine oil drain plug is 32 ft. Lbs. And the engine oil filter is 13 ft. Lbs.
Ytf is this vertical!
looking at this or a 2024 gsxr750 just kinda leaning toward this for the more upright position and i know if i get the gsxr ima be flying all the time... Kinda need to grow up a bit but still want a capable bike.
15 years of spirited super sport experience here. I just traded in my 22 gsxr750 (same as the 24 btw). First few hundred miles and I can honestly say this xsr is pretty damn capable. I will have to take it to a track day but I would be surprised if I’m not within a second of my old pace.for the comfort, Torque, and massive insurance discount you absolutely can’t go wrong with the yami.
Yes! Very comfortable neutral riding position with insane power has the same power as MT-09. Great for short to average height riders. Very happy with my XSR 900! Top speed is 140 mph, which is plenty fast for what I needed. No regrets!
If it’s lean, it will be overheated.
I'm glad you got r figured out. I bet the puppy likes it too. Haha
My dream bike <3 Imma get it this summer and trade in my CB650R :)
good choice, just like mine
What happens if the brakes sound like there scrubbing in the rotor like making sounds with the wheel spinning freely
Make sure that the brake pad is facing the rotor and the metal backing on pad is facing out. Use some brake cleaner on brake pads and rotor. Could also be something wrong with your caliper, and it's not releasing the pressure on the pads against the rotor fully when the brake lever is not applied. If you can't resolve the issue, take it to a bike repair shop and get it looked at. Do not ride it like that!
Now I will work on my breaks! Thanks!
What’s the part number for that selonoid I can’t find one anywhere for my v star
Don't remember, but I typed in 1995 kawasaki Vulcan 1500 on "Ebay" and that's where I found it.
Am looking at this bike here in this video and it look very pretty new and old school
Ya, I love the retro look but some people don't. It's the same power as the Yamaha MT-09 but with retro look and longer swing-arm and shorter seat height.
How's it going brother I got the same bike as u and I'm not the tallest what shocks did u add to lower ur bike 2 inches jw man
Cool. I think they were designed for Harley Davidson got them on Amazon and had to drill them out 1/16 to fit over my posts on bike frame to fit. But they worked great 👍
