I payed off my student loans. Nobody helped me. I'm not rich. It's painful to realize how little Americans understand economics. It's surprising that people would post such a lack of understanding of economics. The student loans are paper held by the Federal government. Until congress sold this paper to banks and private equity companies and sold this debt to the American people. It's like writing a car loan, selling the loan to a bank, and deciding to forgive the loan and leave the bank holding bad paper. . Current law stops this from happening. These dummies don't realize the Federal government doesn't hold these loans anymore. The Government doesn't hold these loans since the government sold this paper. That's why what King Biden is breaking the law forgiving debt they don't own.

President does not have the power of the purse. Only congress does.

Because they use loan forgiveness as a solution when it's treating a symptom instead of the problem. It's another issue of inflation by complacency. Stop allowing these children to rack up crazy debt for a degree they could've gotten much cheaper or not at all considering a lot of the degrees they're getting that won't benefit them financially at all. Once they start doing that, the universities will lower tuition and costs to incentivize students to come back to their campus. Speak with your wallet and do better. I do not condone loan forgiveness because that teaches the next graduate that they too might be able to get loan forgiveness and the cycle continues. It's nonsensical.

Higher education costs money in this country. If you don't know that before you sign your student loan, all the education in the world isn't gonna help you. On top of that, with the exception of a professional degree, college is a complete scam.

Why should i pay higher taxes for those who went into debt for a trash degree they can't use? They should have learned a trade skill instead, but now have to pay off their debt via unskilled labor rates. I am not responsible for their parents having failed to teach them basic life economics.

The banks and IRS want student loan forgiveness. Money to both. People don’t win with this idea. Banks get quick money and IRS gets taxes from Income. My guess the debt is off the end of the loan so the payment doesn’t change. Just a government gimmick for votes.

He's not even forgiving that much. He's forgiving about 170 something billion the full amount, amount is really 1.7 trillion. If I ran up a bill at Applebee's that was 1.7 trillion dollars and I tipped $170 billion that would be considered a shitty 10% tip and I have to make sure not to go back to that Applebee's or they would spit in my food. Joe Biden basically gave struggling students the equivalent of a shitty tip. And that's if it gets passed through which I don't think it will.
