Why am I here? I just read a book about the Transcontinental railroad. They sang this and other songs with the sledgehammers creating the beat. Too bad there were no video recorders back then. It would have been quite a sight.

Thanks for making this. I'm a beginner clawhammer banjoist and Soldier's Joy is probably my favorite banjo tune out there. I'm also trying to learn this style of guitar and fiddle at the same time so this is a really useful video for me!
