Collection of short videos with my daughter and myself made with love for our love of board gaming. We highlight current games played and games we like. I feel board games help children learn and interact with others (especially us, parents). As always we are always looking for recommendations for other games.

Yep it looks a good board game but I think we know what the outcome will be 👍
where is the new videos... come on man... lets get busy....
When you understand the solo rules, record a playthrough (or a few turns). I really want to see how good it is.
You can only choose the general orders of the se toe initiate chit indicated a stalemate. In this case both players can choose either reactive or general orders.
Naz did not exist at that time. The Germans were fighting for the German Empire. It was a constitutional monarchy.
We talked about your channel on the last War Room show on Saturday... Hoping to send you over some new subscribers and inspire you to do more content.... hope this helps and we can get your channel moving forward and doing more great content.... thanks for what you do my friend... take care....
Just watched Jesters Warroom and he recommended your channel. I was already subscribed but he reminded me to check you out, it's been a while since I visited your channel.
Jester is the best! I love what he does as well and he shows that all types of games should be played by gamers - don't pigeonhole yourself. Good gaming!
Uh oh. Welcome to Jesters world freind. I'm usually in chat so say hello 👋. Big Commands and Colors fan myself. I like the blocks. As a kid there was a lot of war movies, and people in them moved blocks, so it's very thematic. I'll solo anything. Most of my military games are not solo variants, so it's just a matter of trying the best for each. Many more solo games now. Have you looked at American Tank Ace by Compass Games?
Saw you in the chat during his Marvel United game. Not into modern wars like WW1> I know its very weird. Been watching Jester probably 2 years but now he is always live playing something and I like to put it on and check it out.
Thanks for creating content with your actual, unpaid, opinion. I primarily play Euros but for some reason I collect solo wargames. Hopefully I'll get to them someday when I retire.
Thank you! I do hope to one day get back to the heavier Euros as I loved playing them with my older group. Also a sucker for solo wargames of certain events or time periods. I do hate to fall for pretty games and hype as we all do and like when others call them for what they are.
My reaction to my daughter liking metal was the exact opposite of my father's lol. I loved it. You know, your tastes may also be changing. Mine go back and forth over periods, so don't pass off everything. I need to do some culling down myself. I know I've got items I'm not doing anything with, that someone else would enjoy. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
That my attitude nowadays with games. If it hasn't gotten played in years it goes on a storage container. From there I will decide what to do. Lately I'd rather give them away to new heavy gamers to enjoy. My conditions, is that the game has to get played. Not sit on a shelf. Hoping to do more videos on games I recommend and call out junk ones.
King of Tokyo with Halloween expansion!
Yeap! We like KOT here as well.
Awesome!
Thanks!
We know what the little one’s pick is: Dungeons and Dragons! 😁
You got that right! But she likes to do those solo puzzle type games
😎
Glad to see younger gamers getting down and dirty with the old stuff! Awesome!
Love your family channel. People are looking for an anchor in this present crazy world. Channels like yours, getting back to the basics of life and sharing happiness, are badly needed.
Thanks. Sadly we haven't been doing much videos or even playing games lately. Life has hit us a little hard but we are getting back up. I do know what you mean.
@@BacktotheTable I wish you the best in "getting back up." A great way of putting it. My Mom and Dad taught us that successful people aren't those who avoid falling, but those who get back up and keep living the best they can. Again and again.
I'm looking for advice in starting war games as a newbie that I can play with my 6yr and 10yr grandsons also that I can play solo if thair is any?
Well off the top of my head I will say check out the Worthington Games games as they tend to be lighter. - www.worthingtonpublishing.com/ Once you play a few you can start to get deeper in them. Not to mention the many conflicts and time periods of these genre Also join this service - community.consimworld.com
The old board game Masterpiece was a favorite of mine. Collecting, selling, and bidding for famous paintings which had random values assigned. Two of which were marked forgeries. Had to try and auction those off to unsuspecting other players. 🙂 Pretty simple and really fun.
I've got the original Dune printing. It's a great game. A bit more colorful and organized than the reprint but that's fine. Still runs the same as the original from what I've seen which is good. Best played with a good group though. The more people trying to influence everything and chasing spice, the more fun. I wonder if a newer game is just going to be some type of movie adaptation. A new Dungeons & Dragons boardgame sounds very interesting. I'll have to look into that.
I am not a Dune fan but after playing the original (reprint) Dune game I loved it! You are right about having a good group. You need the full player count and a good group of people willing to smack talk and betray each other. D&D is bringing back Dragon Lance and hoping the newer stuff coming out stays true to the originals as my daughter is a huge D&D gamer now and want her to experience some of the earlier stuff.
@@BacktotheTable The Dragon Lance coming back is really cool. Been a long time. Looked into the Assault game also, but I'm not sure I'm into dropping 140 dollars for it. Sometimes I think we are pricing children right out of the market. Yea, Dune is so much dang fun. I wish they would do a remake of Amoeba Wars also. It was big when it came out. Game on and take care.
@@timd4524 $140 is a bit much. I can paint my own minis. My daughter and I have been running skirmish games using D&D 5e rules and maps and find it much better.
There seems to be a new trend where designers/publishers say their game plays solo just to sell games. I always look into them a bit before I buy. No big deal, just a lesson learned. On another note; thanks for making great solo content!
Looks like a cool gaming space! Sorry to hear about the shoddy contractor.
Not the first bad experience with labor up where I live. Sad because I was doing him a favor by paying him more than it was should have been.
Great seeing your game room. Looks like it's coming around. Understand about unreliable house contractors experience the same when I had my house built. Did you build the gaming table!? I was going to but the price of wood skyrocket and I put the project on hold. Have to go and check prices again. Good to hear our next generation is still into D&D. I started off playing common card games poker, blackjack, solitaire than moved into D&D. Should be a good bonding experience for you guys. I've had a few ventures selling some of my games as well so I know what your referring to. If you do a rolling thunder video will look forward to it. Take care.
Yes. Built the topper. Easy to do. Plywood and. 2x4 sides. Felt on top and voila! Easy and cheap. You can find dining room tables everywhere.
I think your new game room is great and love seeing the painting station. All the best of the D&D time with your daughter. Mine who is now 28, often mentions the time as a kid she got to play D&D with me, and it is a nice thing to hear.
I'm amazed on the amount of kids liking D&D and even more to see that girls probably more. At least around here seems females outnumber that guys.
@@BacktotheTable It is an awesome thing to hear about!
Digging the Tricorne hat.
Thank You!
Good picks!
Nice picks. I got Goonies to play with my niece and wife when the niece stays over. I'm also going to be teaching her some Dungeons & Dragons. She's played my Dungeon board game and really loves what she call my adventure games lol. Nice Revolutionary War game. I've been into the Compass Games Tricorne series myself. I use to have a copy of the American Revolution by Avalon Hill that was also a lot of fun, but I ended up selling that to a history teacher freind for his class.
I think Goonies and Adventure Tactics got her into D&D
Is someone holding your camera when you film this? The view kept shifting, a couple degrees, right, then left, while you were talking. If no one is holding it, you need to get a new holder for your camera to hold it steady.
I saw that after I posted. Time to retire that tripod. Never knew these things wouldn't last.
Dungeons and Dragons, that’s an awesome pick 👍🏻
She's hooked and got me into it as well. Been around D&D since the 80s but never any interest. Now we're modifying adventures for low player counts
Cheers! Best wishes and happy gaming!
Thanks! Just so you know I'm a fan of your content and a fellow Puerto Rican outside the island
@@BacktotheTable Thank you! Great to see your videos and to know you are a boricua like me. Cheers from PR!
Great video and some brilliant games there! Especially 'Stealth & Sea' and 'Target for Today'. Really enjoyed it, subbed!👍
Nice! I have been wanting to find a Days of Wonder copy of Cleopatra, heard good things!
Its a very light game but works great with non gamers due to the looks of it and the simple game play
Dig the X-men sweatshirt. Had to sell my original copy many years back. Nice to see. Like the game selection also. To many games, not enough time. Although when my wife and I sit my niece we usually get a few in. She loves uncle's adventure games.
Your SLC operators begin the game on the blue side giving them 2 actions each on their turn.
Plains Indian Wars SUCKS BALLS. Look at the map. Kansas City is 200 miles north of where it should be. The Rockies are shown on the California coast. Just ... brutal, and I can't get past it.
Given the 4th of July weekend will be here before long, perhaps you should have a Revolutionary War game day. :-)
Love your thinking! Always do. Usually 1775 from Academy Games but I got more into war games this past year so I have choices
I can totally relate to your statement about finishing 10 but collecting 30 more ... it applies to all sorts of hobbies!
Looks like a beautiful board!
I got the campaign game mixed with the strategical game mode. The strategical game is a much shorter game.
I thought the noise sounded like a sheep baa-ing! Nice extra box add on…. 😁
Well done overview of the game. I went back and forth on this one when the Kickstarter was running, now I'll probably be looking around for a copy. I'm curious how the solo game works. Thanks again!
Thanks brother! That solo looks scary. I'm looking forward to getting the whole map used and play both sides but will hopefully look at the solo this week. You guys keep my attention span short by showing me so many cool games.
@@BacktotheTable Keep sharing your thoughts of the game on here, if you get the chance. I'd like to see more about it.
Post the list and timestamps.
Ill look into how to do that. Thanks
Sir, at the beginning you mentioned another game of the same subject/period. What is the name of that game? And is it good too?
I was referring to Custer's Last Stand (Worthington Games) and the series Indian Wars of the American West by Legion Wargames
@@BacktotheTable thank you!
I'll have to try Paleo. Never heard of Storm Weavers. I'll watch your series on it. Core Space looks cool but I will run far from that rabbit holes. I have enough of those types of games. :) Thank you for the box tip. Try Final Girl. It is an awesome solo game. If you liked Hostage Negotiator, you'll love it. If you didn't, you might like it anyway, because it puts meat on the bones.
Waiting on Final Girl. Yes Core Space already knew a few expensive and extras. Easily $$$.
Glad I could help you remember . . . and that you are enjoying the game. Keep up the content. Enjoyable.
Thanks for talking me out of Into The Woods. Your last video showed me it's too heavy for me and won't ever get played. Hopefully one day!
I purchased this game when it first came out. I thought it might be a bit complex because it seemed to have a lot of possible actions. It actually is not a complicated game on a 10 point scale I would rate it's complexity at a 3 or 4. Not bad at all. The game is very underrated, I feel, and is history based and a lot of fun. I own over 400 games and this is a very good game.
Don't be afraid of Midway Solitaire! It's not overly complex, just procedural. If you follow along with the sequence of play, step by step, it's not too overwhelming. Perhaps a solid medium weight game but I wouldn't call it any heavier than that. Anyway, great video! Just discovered your channel and I'm checking it out now.
If you were reminded about Bleeding Kansas from my video on Plains Indian Wars, then mission accomplished-always looking to explore new games and formats. Thanks for this video-great selection of games!
You're right! It was you. I was trying to remember. Thanks for the videos
Sadly they sell out quick because they only make small print runs with limited advertising geared to veteran gamers. Hence, they make small sales. Compass Games does a bit better than most. Good games.
I passed on those in hopes of picking them up later. But want to see videos on them to see if they are different than the Quebec one I have played
Nice little haul! I’m cracking into the two new games I received from Worthington, 414BC Siege of Syracuse, and 1565 Siege of Malta
