    I live in the metro Phoenix area and a little background on my current unit. It's a 24 year old Trane all-in-one heat pump and unlike most of these similar units being roof mounted, mine is ground mounted and all ducting to and from the house is through underground pipes. I have it checked twice a year before winter and summer by my HVAC guy and the unit has never needed a recharge but did need a new condenser fan motor this year due to bearing failure. While he replaced the fan motor, I asked if I should think about replacing the unit with a new one and his answer was a solid "NO". He explained how my old unit was built so much sturdier than the new models and has easily outlasted many newer ones. He said other than a catastrophic failure I shouldn't replace it. If you're thinking that he's using me as a "cash cow", other than a recent $400 fan motor replacement, all he gets is his $50 twice yearly service check fee.

    Hello,have a system similar to this in my house closet. My question is I can see outside light coming in from the top,is this normal? Does there need to be a way for the furnace to air out? Or does this need to be closed up on my roof? Thank you

    Heat pumps wear out faster than a split system where you have a furnace and outside air conditioner unit.

  • @sundancer3700
    @sundancer3700 2 місяці тому

    Another Biden blunder trying to sell us on this crap just like EVs. And this fall billions will start to be spent on the IRA program to give free heat pump systems away. How long before people go back to gas and all this money is wasted.

  • @adamarndt7617
    @adamarndt7617 2 місяці тому

    So a heat pump just takes a lot longer to raise the interior temperature of the home after it's turned on? It's that the takeaway?

      @@winstonelston5743We had a spike in the price of nat gas 2 years ago and it's come down a bit since then but it's still higher than normal. Natural gas, propane, electricity, water, I don't trust any of these greedy bastards.

    • @TBoy1247
      @TBoy1247 2 місяці тому

      Not necessarily. It can move more air so so time is about the same.

    • @adamarndt7617
      @adamarndt7617 2 місяці тому

      @@TBoy1247 ?? Air flow doesn't/ can't raise temperature. Thermal energy does. Same thermal heat input with 2x the airflow might make the temp more EVEN throughout the house, but it doesn't alter the rate of temperature rise of the interior.

    • @TBoy1247
      @TBoy1247 2 місяці тому

      BTU Output = Temperature Rise (∆ T) x CFM x 1.08. So you heat pumps make up for less ∆ T with more airflow. Cheers!

    I install a lot of 98% efficiency gas furnaces. They make the compressor last a lot longer than a heat pump by not using it during the heat cycle.

  • @jeffparry2426
    @jeffparry2426 2 місяці тому

    Nice, thought, but there is a lot of loss in a in the outside unit, and the line set. If they had no loss every unit would have the same seer rating... and they don't. It would be great if the water heating could be incorporated in one system w the HVAC.

    Our furnace is linking water underneath. The air conditioner man came out. He told us that we needed a water pump. He told us. Instead of letting water run down the pipe. Like it was doing. He will connect the pipe fm furnace. Run pipe outside the furnace. Run it into the bathroom. So it can be drained into our toilet. I do not lk that idea. Will this mess up my plumping? Thanks
